Beate's Weekend #64 & Cute Card Thursday #35

Whew! This morning I got up at the crack of dawn. Took my shower and got dressed and headed out to get my "MAMMIES WHAMMIED". Happy Halloween!!! It really wasn't a bad experience at all. The lady who does my mammograms is the same person since I moved here in 2001. She's sweet as a button and very accommodating. Thanks Becie at Wysong!

Now when I got home I ate a late breakfast and then I started on my challenges. Beate's weekend challenge #64 was looking pretty easy to me, so I gave it a whirl. Below you can see what I came up with.

Seasons Greetings

Hubs went to Hobby Lobby last night and bought me some new toys (punches)!!!
One was this multipunch edge from The Paper Studio. I had to get the hang of this puppy before I started using it on my projects. It does multiple edges. For instance you can edge cirles, squares and straight lines. It's fun to play with but it takes some getting used to. I literally had to stand up and hold it down with one hand and whack the lever with the other. It's works better on a little thicker paper than regular scrapbook paper though.
I used my Creative Memories - Corner Rounder, my round punch from The Paper Studio, as well as my square deckled edge punch and my Scalloped Circle punch from Marvy for my tag.
Ingredients:
Punches - The Paper Studio - Multi Punch Edges, Deckled Square, & Circle
- Creative Memories - Corner Rounder
FlairDesigns - Merry Little Christmas Collection - Holiday Cheer Words & Festive Forest
Cosmo Cricket - Over Easy
Bazzill - Buttercream - orange peel texture
No name - cardstock - Pearl white
Ribbon
Copic Marker

Cute Card Thursday #35 CHEERS
I don't do a lot of mug or cuppa stamps. But I found this in some of the freebies I got from my friend Sue Siebens and decided it would work for this challenge. I loved using all these different patterns. Is it too busy??? Hope not! I was pleased with it. :-}

Ingredients:
Making Memories - Geometric Window Greenhouse Paperie - both sides
Basic Grey - Archaic
Bazzill _ Dk. Green
Copic Markers
Color Box Chalk - Olive Pastel
Ranger - Clear emboss powder

Finally this card was for a sketch, I won't say which one, but I was too late to submit. But I loved the way it turned out so I am posting it to my blog anyway.

Ingredients:
Verve - Birthday Surprise
Stamps - free
Bazzill - dk green
lime vellum embossed with the Bird Call from Cuttlebug
Basic Grey - Archaic as my bottom border
Ink - Encore Ultimate Metallic Gold & Stampabilities - Black & Archival Brilliance - Pearlescent Beige

Ok my doorbell will start ringing any minute with Trick or Treaters so I have to go.
I'll be back to play again tomorrow. So come back and see me sometime. Don't forget to post a comment and join my followers.

A Scrap Addicts Sketches WK #22 - Let it Snow!

I created this winter card for A Scrap Addicts Sketches WEEK #22 challenge.

Basically cardstock - Bazzill and ribbons. I also added the little plastic snowflake buttons and sequins. I stamped the words - Let it snow! with individual alpha stamps, but they don't have a name on them. I used Stampabilities Black. One little swatch of Basic Grey's Color Me Silly cardstock.

I have a day of sketches today so I'll probably be back later to post.

Kazan's Sketch #12 & SplitCoastStampers #200

These two sketches were a lot of fun!

Joshua 24:15 (Kazan's Sketch #12) at 2Sketches4You blog.
I just have to mention, for Kazan's sketch I used a photo frame instead of making a card. I used my Copic Orange marker to color the frame. Then I stamped my images in black and heat embossed them. Then I added my buttons and ribbons. Then the flower went on. Lastly, I stamped the Joshua bible verse from Verve, and embossed it as well.
Ingredients:
Joshua 24:15 - Verve Stamp
be. Desiree` frame - Creative Imaginations
Copic Marker - Orange
Stampabilities Ink - Black
Ranger Superfine Embossing Powder - Clear
Buttons, flower & ribbons - free

DREAM
SplitCoast Stampers Challenge #200 This challenge called for three like items (the sample was squares, but the rules said we could use any shape), I choose my favorite lime green flowers from Prima Marketing. I embellished them with jewelry pieces from my stash. I also added some crochet flowers I cut from a piece of crochet lace.

I cut the vellum into strips with my deckled edge scissors and then I laid them out, leaving a little space between each piece.
Ingredients:
Amy Butler Lotus Faded China - Acanthus Die Cut
Lime Vellum
Making Memories - Geophysical Window Greenhouse - pp
Prima Belle Fluer - Lime
Ribbons & jewelry - free

I enjoyed this challenge because I was able to use more green!!!

MOJO #58 - With Love

This was a really fun MOJO MONDAY sketch for me. I have been prowling blogs a lot lately and have seen a lot of pink & brown. Well, I really like that color combo so I thought I'd give it a try myself. And this is what I came up with! My inspiration was this button in the middle of my flower, that came in a kit from Keep In Touch Card Kits called the "Ooh La La" Embellishment Pack. This pack is filled with vintage buttons, some unique Etsy finds and a fancy gift tag that make this mini kit a stunner! Anyhoo, back to the card...I did not have a pattern for my little pocket so I made my own. I used my X-atco guillotine paper cutter grid to score my fold & cut lines. The rhinestones were huge swirlies I cut into pieces and arranged to fit the card. I embossed my pocket while it was still flat. Then I scored it and folded it.
Ingredients:
Freebie cs dark pink
Freebie cs pearl pink
Bazzill cs Chocolate scallop weave
Cuttlebug embossing folder - paisley
Flower Heidi Swapp
Ribbons, buttons, rhinestones (Say It With Crystals), Sentiment Tag (With Love) all from kits

Oh Hey!!! My Verve Stamps and my Copic markers all arrived in today's mail!!!!
I get to play tomorrow, my other friend Sue Meyer is coming over to spend the day with me. She plans to sew, but I may get her to make & take a card before she goes home.

Ok it's pushing 2 a.m. and that spot between my shoulders is starting to burn. I'll post something new on Tuesday night. So yall come back now, ya hear!!!

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #63

Beate's Weekend Sketch #63

Hope today tickles you pink!
For this card I am going to attempt to instruct a tutorial.
Items you'll need:
1 Background Stamp
1 Image Stamp
Background Inks - various colors; I'll let you choose but I used my Rubber Stamp Paintbox (a rainbow of colors in a rectangular box)
Image Ink - something to coordinate with the background (I used Color Box Fluid Chalk in Warm Violet
Cardstock - 1 neutral color for you to stamp your background, image and tag and 1 accent color for matte.
Heart punch or if you have Nestabilities you can use that.
Then you can choose to embellish as you like.
Step 1:
Ink your background stamp, stamp it onto your cardstock them emboss.
Step 2:
Re-Ink your background stamp, stamp it onto your cardstock then emboss. Set aside.
I'm sorry I don't have images of this. I thought about the tutorial afterwards.
Step 3: Stamp and emboss your image. Cut it out and mount it to accent colored cardstock and trim. Set aside.
Step 4: Stamp your sentiment tag. Mount on accent colored cardstock.
Step 5: Take your heart punch and starting in the bottom left hand corner punch just the rounded top portion of the heart. (You want to scallop the edge). See photo.

I punched the first time, then I moved the punch over one notch of the heart and punched again. Continuing around the edge of the cardstock.

When you've gone all around the edges, simply add a pop dot to the back and start assmebling your card.
Here's my finished card. TFL.

Scarlet Lime Sketches #1 - Peace & #2 - Happiness

SCARLET LIME OCTOBER KIT SKETCHES

Peace You've probably seen this one already but I wanted to post these two together. So, I won't list the ingredients again.

Happiness is not something you experience, it is something you remember. I took the sticker sheet from 7 Gypsies MEMORIES and used the entire middle section as my background. The sentiment is also from that same sticker sheet.

90% Scarlet Lime Kit products:
Sassafrass - Life is Beautiful - Woodland Whimsy - Rose Thicket
Basic Grey _ Ambrosia - element stickers
Black shiny finish cardstock
Mustard green light weight cardstaock
Stickers - 7 Gypsies - MEMORIES
Bits and Baubles from the kit.

The Rose Thicket pp had the scalloped border across the bottom. I cut it off and flipped it up to edge the bottom of my card.

CPS #87, PTW #13, CBCC #9, Gifties from Jennifer's Sweet Designs

CPS #87 'tis the Season
Whew! It's been a few days since I last posted. I've been on a creating "friendzy"!
I started out with the Card Positioning Systems sketch and then I was on a roll!
Again playing with Sue's freebies and goodies, I was burning rubber, litterally! Hahahahaa.
I bought some of those daubers by Ranger from
LuminArte
. I didn't shake them up at first and I was very disappointed. Once I read the "fine print" I realized I had to shake those little puppies up. I used the Cinnamon to ink all over the Fancy Pants pattern paper. Then I also inked the edges of the ornament tag. Those ornaments are two separate stamps from freebie Sue. I used the stickles on them and I'm thinking they looked better before. Hey, hindsight is 20/20. Heeheheee.
Ingredients:
Red Foil - cs
Gold foil - cs
Ribbons, Chipboard & Sentiment - Keep In Touch Embllishments Kit
Free - Ornaments stamps
Water color pencils
Stamp N Stuff Pirate Gold - Opaque Embossing Powder
Stickles _ Icicles
Cuttlebug - Embossing folder - Ornaments
LuminArte Radiant Rain - Hot Cinnamon
Fancy Pants - pp

Paper Take Weekly Sketch #13- Peace On Earth
When I first looked at this sketch, it frightened me. I'm serious, it looked like there was a LOT going on. But then I dissected it piece by piece, and after further consideration, I decided to give it a go. So here it is...

I know these are NOT traditional Christmas colors, but I liked the combo and this lovely rub-on from the Kaiser Crafts collection - Enchanted is stunning with a little shading of the wing with my water color pencils. I played around with different backgrounds for this lovely little bird and settled on this flicked brown acrylic paint on Bazzill Buttercream cardstock. Then I inked the edges of this tag with my Vivid! mini acid free die inkpad - Coffee Bean. I also used this ink on my sentiment tag I printed out on my computer.
Ingredients:
Felicity Scribble Scrabble - Chocolate - pp
Bazzill - Buttercream Orange Peel texture and Sunflower
Kaiser Craft - Rub-ons - Enchanted
Ribbon & flower - Keep In Touch kit
Water color pencils
Rhinestones from my jewelry stash

I have to admit, I am very pleased with the way this one turned out. Hope you like it too!

Created by Courtney sketch #9 - Best Wishes

My first attempt at a Created by Courtney sketch.
This pattern paper from Crate Paper is simply gorgeous!!! You really don't have to work very hard when you use these. The colors here are really pretty and all the products looked like they seemed to belong together.

Ingredients:
ADORNit - Breezy Teal - Dots
K & Co - Lotus Faded Chipboard stickers
Kaiser Crafts - clear rhinestones
Crate Paper - Blue Hill Collection - Sky
Sentiment & Flower from a Keep In Touch kit

Gifties from Jennifer's Sweet Designs
I received a goodie package from Jennifer of Jennifer's Sweet Designs . She's a REALLY talented lady!!! Jennifer made the (SPOOKY) card on the right. In my giftie from Jen I received these cut outs of a haunted house and some little bats, some ribbon and a Spellbinders Nestabilities rectangle collection. Jennifer was the first person to tell me about these clever little tools and ironically, she gave me my first ever set!!! Thanks Jen!
Back to the image below, once I saw Jen's card, I do what I normally do...
My creative wheels start turning and I try to duplicate or create my own version. That's mine on the left. I used the cut outs Jennifer sent me and some stickers from the Renae Lungren Halloween collection at Creative Imaginations to decorate my haunted house. More of the stickers, buttons and the mesh came in kits from Scarlet Lime & Keep In Touch. The background pp is Basic Grey's - Oh Baby! Boy - Garic. I zig zag stitched all around the perimeter of the mesh attaching it to the Basic Grey cs. The ribbon was a giftie from Jen too.

These are two little tags I cut with the Nestabilites from Jen's giftie.

Today was a rough day. After the goodies from Jen's giftie, I stayed up til 2 a.m. playing. I had to get up at 8 a.m. so I could get ready to go to the dentist (teeth cleaning). I've had a crown for well over a year now and I am still experiencing some pain. He took x-rays and can not find anything wrong. Still it hurts when I chew. So now I have to go see a specialist in 3 weeks. YUK! Anywho, long story short; I took a much needed nap this afternoon. Only to realize between being at the dentist till noon and napping this afternoon the entire day was gone! Poo Yi! okay, a lot of you are wondering what Poo Yi means. I'm originally from Louisiana and Poo Yi (yi is pronounced like EYE only with a y in the front that sounds like the y in young) is a word we use to express how we feel when we are stressed. So go ahead give it a try. Come on, you can do it! POOOOO YIEEEEEE! Feel better???

Stamps are more from Sue's freebies and I used my Randiant Rain dauber ink to paint in my Santa and my Zig Writers for the elf. The present was from a kit. I cut the cs with the nesties. I'm diggin' those things!!!

I have one more card that I have finished but I don't have the ingredients written down yet.

Thanks for spending a little time on my blog and checking out my creations. I hope enjoyed what you saw. If you did, or you didn't leave me a comment. I live for FEEDBACK!

Oh and I just wanted to add, I've got two NEW cards on my Zack's Nana's Christmas Whimsy blog.

Kazan's Sketch #11 Perfect... & 1 in a Buzzillion for OCC

Perfect the way you are. Kazan's 11th Sketch.
I was on the prowl again tonight when I came across this blog 2 Sketches 4 You. I am lovin' the way this turned out. I've been in a purple phase lately. These patterned papers and carstock from Sue have kept me reeling! I am having so much fun with FREE stuff!

Ingredients:
Prism - Prismatics - White Sheen
Scarlet Lime - Oct kit - stamps
Rub-ons - Deja Views - All Girl
Urban Lily - love seals
Color pencil - curelean
Cuttlebug - perfectly paisley emboss folder
Stampabilities - Black
Embossing powder - Stamp N Stuff - Sterling Silver Opaque

1 in a Buzzillion is for the sketch at OCC.
This was a fun sketch too. I really had fun playing with my free (Sue's) stamps. I used a stamp that looked like a sponge texture. Pretty cool!I stamped it twice with different colors of ink and then embossed with different colors of embossing powders. That Bazzill dotted swiss cs made another appearance as a backdrop for this one. I used the negative part of my dragonfly for the frame of the dragonfly. The peek-a-boo is some ink stamped and embossed to give some color and pattern to the dragonfly's body. I used my scallop punch several times and cut varied sizes and stacked them to enhance my sentiment "You are 1 in a BUZZillion".
More free stuff from Sue; buttons I snipped the backs off to make then flat to add as embellies.
Ingredients:
Bo Bunny - Sun Washed Plaid
Scenic Route - Liberty/Franklin Street
Bazzill - Plum - Dotted Swiss
Stamps - Sponge - no label
Embossing Powders - Super Fine - Clear - Ranger & Personal Stamp Exchange - Bridal

Two Challenges in One - Merry Christmas Barn OCC 10-18 & Splitcoast WT188 Plaid

Howdy!!!
Don't you just "LOVE" when a plan comes together?! I sure do!

Ingredients:
Bo Bunny Barnred Bead Board reversible heavy weight paper
Scenic Route - Grafton/George Street
Prima - Voila! - felt adhesives
Ink - ColorBox - fluid chalk - Lime Pastel
Ranger - Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder - Clear
Pen - Slick Writer - Black #82021 - Bold
DecoArt - SnowTex
Assorted Rhinestone, button and sequins
K & Co Craft Bond Glue

This card started out with the stamp, "Merry Christmas" from my friend Sue's collection on Christmas. I liked it so much I just had to use it. I wanted to create the barn effect because I am ga ga over this Bo Bunny Barnred Bead Board heavy weight paper.
I stamped the "Merry Christmas" on white cardstock with the Lime Pastel ink and embossed with the Ranger clear embossing powder. Then I cut the barn doors and the white all out in the same shape.
I adhered all 3 pieces to the Scenic Route Grafton/George Street pattern cardstock.
Next I embellished the tree with the rhinestones and the trumpeting angel sequin.
On the barn doors I used the Prima Voila! felt stickers for handle and hinges. At this point I took my black pen and framed everything in. I glued the button on the door and painted on the SnoTex to look like snow had settled around the hinges and at the base of the barn doors. Lastly I put my snowfake sequins and buttons together and attached them in random spots.

The barn doors partially open...

The barn doors opened completely...

A Scrap Addict's October 16th Sketches 1 & 2

A Scrap Addict's Sketches at A Scrap Addict's Sketches
#1 Happy Birthday
First off I have to say a HUGE "THANK YOU" to a friend (Sue S.) for lending me and giving me tons of cardmaking supplies last night. So for a while you'll see me post cards that don't have products labeled because Sue's gifts don't have ANY labels on them! There will be an exception here and there and when there are I will label the products used.
Now to get on to the first card... I REALLY enjoyed this one and love the way it turned out.

Ingredients:
Freebies - Quadrants - Bamboo, Bushes
Bazzill Dotted Swiss Plum
Prima flowers w/ earring

#2 Double Happiness For some reason this one presented a few challenges and I'm STILL not sure what I think. I believe the hardest thing about this one, for me, is the color scheme and theme. I like Oriental things as much as the next person, but I'm not sure it translated very well to a greeting card.
I'll let you be the judges...

Ingredients:
Hero Arts - Chinese Characters
Prima Transparent Scrapbook Tape - #870133 - Urban Cosmos
Bo Bunny - Back to Backs - Barnred Bead Board (both sides)
Quadrants pp - Fan
Scenic Route - George Street
I cut out one of the fans from the pp and inked and embossed in gold a fan stamp. I added a white plastic button with the back cut off with some sequins and an orange crystal. The butterfly came from Sue's gifts. It looks like it may have come from Hobby Lobby's floral department.

Thanks for looking.
Saturday is hub's radio club so I'll be home alone to play. Hopefully I'll get some inspiration and be a little more creative! LOL

Sketches By Tamara - LOVE is... & Birthday Queen

Tamara's Sketch #66

Yes, LOVE is SCIENTIFIC! Ha!
This is going to be a quick post because I have been playing with new products all afternoon. I received some ordered kits and some kits that I won from Kelly McMaster at Keep In Touch.
Ingredients:
Stickles Icicles
Creative Imaginations - Christine Adolph - stickers - Winter Garden - my flower stem
daisy d's - Stephanie Doskeis - Hooray - stripe paper
Bazzill - Orange, Red & Black - weave texture
Bazic Grey - fibers
Glitz Designs - Basic Table - pp
Glitter Alphas
Buttons
Glitter leaf

The flower came loose in a bag with a simple white brad. I added the loose brown flower with the orange button. Then I glued on the green bead. I used the stickles on the edges of the petals of the flower to spruce it up a bit.
Outside says, "SCIENTIFIC" and on the inside it says, "LOVE is..."

BIRTHDAY QUEEN TAMARA RECIPE

Scrapping Recipe Challenge #19

Hi Everyone! Tamara's "scrapping recipe challenge"! for this week is Scrapping Recipe Challenge #19. First off, here's the awesome scrapping recipe that was provided by Carol.
Felt
Stickles
An office supply or a library pocket
AND anything else in addition to the three required elements

Beginning with the office supply or a library pocket. I used the shipping tag and I made my own pocket with more of the background cs. I included personal notes from the day my oldest Daughter, Holli was born.
Her full name: Holli Lyn Schaub
Date she was born: Dec. 11, 1979
Time she was born: 1:49 P.M.
Recorded by: Zack'sNana
Moment to Remember: Remarks- Daddy was working offshore when I went into labor. He made it home in 3 hrs! Finally, after 36 1/2 hours of labor, YOU were born!
Location: Lakewood Hospital
Recorded by: Mom
Ribbons, bits and baubles added with embroidery floss. Tag reads BIRTHDAY QUEEN (some Aussie friends of ours dubbed Holli "The Queen" many years ago).

To attach my pocket I used my sewing machine and zig zag stitched around three sides. I scallop punched the opening at the top of the pocket.
The little flower was punched with my 3" punch and then I snipped around the edges of individual pieces stacked and pop dots attached them to my card pocket.
I dotted my stickles on.

This photo doesn't do the card real justice, it actually looks a lot better in person! If I do say so myself...
and I do! ;-)

Ingredients:
Prima - Valerie Foster Designs - Voila! - die cut felt art strips
Collage Press - Journaling Cards - Inventory
Polar Bear Press - Sherbert Surprise
s e i - Alley's Wonderland - Tea Time Tulips & Stripes
stickles icicles - irredscent
yellow square brad

Butterfly Love - CPS Sketch #86

This is the card I made for CPS SKETCH #86.
I drew my inspiration for this card from both the metal frame and the Heather Bailey fabric. The frame has some lovely shades of what else, GREEN! :-O
I mounted the fabric to Butterscotch Bazzill and then I zig zag cut the edges. Then I mounted that to the Lime Green Bazzill. Then I started building on that. I took some extra fabric and adhered it to the back of the frame. I took a small piece of bubble wrap and mounted it behind the fabric in the frame opening for a quilted look. I added the swirlies then mounted the frame on the card. I embossed the 2 butterflies with the Cuttlebug Snowflake folder. Then I took out my jewelry stash and created the body and head of the butterfly. I mounted that on top of my little fabric pillow inside my frame. All 4 buttons are different. I liked all the shapes/designs and couldn't choose one to go with so I used them all. I used DMC #899 Pink embroidery floss for my buttons and my tag. Getting to my tag, Apple Green for the base, then Scenic Route Liberty/Franklin Street (orange) finishing it off with the LOVE sticker and more embroidery floss.

Ingredients:
Heather Bailey fabric swatch
K & CO - Kimberly Hodges Metal Art Frame
K & CO - Grand Adhesions - Wedding Collection - LOVE sticker
American Crafts - Thickers Vinyl Shape Stickers - Swirlies
K & CO Craft Bond Glue
Bazzill - Weave Texture - Butterscotch, Apple Green & Lime Green
Scenic Route CS - Liberty/Franklin Street (orange)
DMC #899 - Pink embroidery floss
Buttons
Jewelry beads
Cuttlebug - Snowflake Embossing Folder
Cuttlebug - Butterfly Die

Tomorrow I will work on the Sketches by Tamara sketch #19 using 1.Felt 2.Stickles 3.An office supply or a library pocket. Till then...

Longing for Zackary...

Ok I admit it, I miss my grandson, Zackary Michael Estridge! Oh and when he calls that's how he introduces himself. :-)
I used my Baby Giraffe from Sizzix in my Cuttlebug. The picture didn't come out so hot. But the card is really cute. I have that 6 x 6 paper pack from Basic Grey _ Archaic. I'm lovin' me some Archaic PP! Oh and over the weekend I got this new 3" scalloped circle and punched it three times out of 1 archaic pps, 1 chocolate Bazzill cs and 1 tan Bazzill weave texture cs. Off set them so they'd show better. I stitched with black thread (and I went off the beaten path with this) 2 more of the archaic pps onto a Felicity Scribble Scrabble cs. I snipped Geoff's ears so they'd stand up a little to make it look 3D. I blacked in his mouth, imagine he's saying, "I'm longing to see you!"

Toodles Peeps

Side Note:
When I talked to Zack on Sunday I told him I was going to make him a card with a Giraffe on it that said, "I'm longing to see you!" He asked me to hold on and I heard him say, "MOM, can we please go see Nana? She really misses me!" Zack is only 4 years and 11 months old. But he is such and OLD SOUL. And my "Sweet Boy".
Thanks for looking...
On Weds. I'll be adding my take on CPS Sketch #86

Mojo Madness Contest - Week # 56

Howdy!
Ok it's a MOJO MONDAY Sketch from Julee Tilman over at Poetic Artistry. For some reason this sketch just drew me in. I really enjoyed working on this card!
More of this Bo Bunny Back to Backs Chiffon Dot. I really think this cs makes for a great neutral backdrop. I also used more of the s e i Dill Blosssom Caraway pattern paper. I think with these two cards; the "Chirstmas Star" and "In loving Memory", I've really shown the versatility of these two products.

Ingredients:
Bazzill - Buttercream - orange peel texture
Bazzill - Chocolate - weave texture
Bo Bunny Chiffon Dot
s e i Dill Blossom - Caraway- both sides
Felicity - Scribble Scrabble - Chocolate pp
Stamps - Dove - Christmas Wishes from Little Paper Shop
Stamps - Sentiment _ In Loving Memory from Little Paper Shop

The Christmas Star

Hello:
Ever get in the feeling you NEED to make something? Well, my hubs went errand running on Saturday evening and stopped in a scrapbook shop and bought me some goodies! He's the best! Anyway, what he came home with were some Christmas papers and some bling! One of the pattern- papers he bought me was Flair - Star Bright. Now, from the moment I saw this paper I knew it was destined to be cut up. Once you see "The Christmas Star" below you'll understand what I mean.
I really loved this paper! I just wish now I had more of it! Hubs only bought one sheet. :-(

So I made quick work of snipping the stars off the 12 x 12 sheet. They just seemed to be begging to be nested. So I politely obliged.
The bling resting on top is a piece of costume jewelry from my stash that has a cluster of crystals in it (picture doesn't really show them very well).
I started it all with 2 things; the Chiffon Dot card stock and the Star Bright pattern paper. After cutting the stars out, I cut and sewed the caraway pp onto the cs with red thread. Then I traced the largest star onto the Tomato cs. After which I cut the red star larger than my tracing. Then I put it through the Cuttlebug with the paisley folder. The tomato cs and the next three stars were attached to one another with a brad. Then I attached the others with another brad and pop dotted that section on top. Then I took the Christmas sticker ( Gather good wishes and hold them close all year. ) and attached it to a piece of the Chiffon Dots and used some silver square brads and pop dots to attach that to my card. Last thing, I used K & CO craft bond to attach the jewel.

Ingredients:
Costume jewelry
Silver Square Brads
7 Gypsies CHRISTMAS stickers
s e i Dill Blossom - Caraway pp
Flair Star Bright pp
Bo Bunny Back to Backs cs- Chiffon Dot
Bazzill - Tomato Washboard Text.
Cuttlebug - Pretty Paisley embossing folder

Anywho thanks for looking.

Toodles Peeps... Tuesday I have a check up for my diabetes with my G.P.(got to visit the vampires too). Hopefully when I get home I can post the Giraffe card I made for my Grandson Zackary, because I am REALLY missing him!

Road Trip - Get Well Card - Christmas Trees gone bad...

Today Mike and I took another road trip. But before we REALLY hit the road, we stopped at Shades of Green in Frisco, TX to buy pumpkins and mums. Later in the week I'll try to upload pictures of my fall decor. :-P I just wanted to add one more thing to this bit about the road trip. We found gasoline for $2.65 a gallon at the Diamond Shamrock/Valero on hwy 35 in Gainesville, TX. Since we have one of their gas cards we got an additional $.03 a gallon off. We paid $2.62 a gallon for gasoline!!! How's the gas prices where you are??? Can you beat this???

Now to some cards I finished this weekend.
This one kind of bothered me. I started it for a CPS challenge last week but I didn't care for the way it was looking. UNTIL, tonight! I added the Get Well sentiment and the crochet flowers and the rhinestone from my costume jewelry stash. And now I am lovin' it. Hubs likes it too!

Some old scrap piece of marroon cs I found, just big enough for a card. Ran it through my Cuttlebug with the Tall Grass embossing folder. Then I added both the black & white polka dots and the black & white check ribbons. The sentiment is a cut away from a Rhonna Farrer rub-on mounted on Bazzill white & black cardstock with silver brads. The black and white pieces were 2 two sided carstocks I got in a Scarlet Lime kit in August (just had a scrap of that leftover as well and I can't remember the name). All mounted on white weave texture scallop edged Bazzill cs.

Inside I wrote my message and added a stamped Chickie (For Peeps Sake- Snag'em Stamps) at Imaginisce. I used Color Box Fluid Chalk Ink Pad in Warm Violet to stamp her. Then I colored her in using my glitter pens. I drew her little shoes and purse.

Then I swear I was jinxed!
Cuz all sorts of bad things started to happen with the next two cards...
I'll explain below. If you're STILL here, keep reading...
This one I embossed the Bazzill white with the Snowflake folder from Cuttlebug. That was pretty! BUT, I then took the swirlie from Fancy Pants - ALL FALL - printed Chipboard Shapes collection and colored on it with my Zig Evergreen Writer. Well I didn't notice but it wasn't drying very well and I was getting ink all over my fingers. I smudged the white cs with the green ink. :-(

So then I took the swirlie and I rubbed it all over the embossed surface of the white cs. It looks nice but I can STILL see the smudges. :-(
The white was mounted on red and I used a white writer and the evergreen writer to mark the dots on the borders. Then I punched holes and threaded a white fuzzy fiber through the holes. I took the star from the ALL FALL Shapes too. I sanded it to get a rough surface. Then I added embossing ink and poured on Ranger's Super Fine Clear embossing powder and then heated. I repeated this process several times and on the last pass, while it was still wet I dropped it into Magic Scraps silver glitter. Oh and did I fail to mention that the swirlie and the star are self adhesives? Well, that's great when they stick! But because of the embossing on the cardstock, I had to add K & Co Craft Bond Glue.
Still here??? Whew! :-)

Now on to disaster #2...
I loved the colors I started with and then it all went south... umm southwest... oh, it just went baaaad...

I colored the stamp in with my color pencils and then I added Stickles Icicles on top of that. I cut the corners with some shaping scissors and I think that's when everything started to go off...

Ingredients for this one:
Bazzill - Plum Pudding - Dotted Swiss
Bazzill - Lucky Green Apple Green - Washboard Texture
Bazzill - Sunflower
Tourquoise cs from years ago
Lace - Freebie
Ranger - Stickles - Icicle
Stampendous! - Fluffles Tree
Colored pencils
Evergreen Writer
Basic Grey Fibers to attach the sentiment.
It's all crook'd. So it's going in the "What I've learned from my mistakes bin."

If you made it all the way, GOOD ON YOU!
Hope everyone had a tremendous weekend!!!

Anything But Square - OCC Challenge & Card_Crafts Group Swap

I was haunting blogs this morning when I came across the Our Creative Corner Saturday Challenge. I thought it was "veeeery interesting..." So I've decided to play along!
My Cricut came in pretty handy on this one! I used the Stretch Your Imagination (Basic/Foundations) cartride. Using mutiple colors of cardstock and Basic Grey's archaic 6 x 6 paper pad's patterned papers, I cut out and paper pieced the turkey's body. It's a really groovy collection of patterns. One American Crafts Holiday House Foam Fall pumpkins and one Fancy Pants ALL FALL Rub-on. A Fancy Pants Argyle ribbon for his scarf. Add to that 7Gypsies Thanksgiving stickers. One green rhinestone for Old Tom's eye.

Trying some thing "NEW" These are my own photos...

I had these wonderful photographs lying around and I wanted to use them somehow.
So I picked up the one of the church steeple. Isn't it just beautiful??? This steeple is on top of the First Methodist Church of Paris, TX. The church itself is very pretty, but I really love the steeple. I wanted to use a muted background on both of these to showcase the images. Also, I didn't want to over embellish them either. I got the idea from an e-mail I received in my box today from Day Spring. They make plaques with these Roy Lessin sayings on them with the
Bible verses.

The background cardstock on this one was from Basic Grey but I couldn't remember the name. I also used a peice of vintage jewelry on this one. It's part of an old earring. The printing on the photo reads:
God is with you...
with words of peace,
with a touch of mercy,
with a sure promise of hope
with hands of healing,
with abundant grace,
with tender care, and with
a heart of everlasting love. Roy Lessin
Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with everlasting kindness I have drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3 NKJV

The one below is Scribble Scrabble Felicity, I even included the border. The flowers are from One Mind... One Heart... Sassy collection.

The printing on the photo reads:
Lord, work through me to plan with wisdom,
to guide with vision,
to lead with humility,
to listen with understanding,
to work with excellence,
to succeed in a way that honors You. Roy Lessin

It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13 NKJV

One More!
This one I created Friday, October 10, 2008. It's the entire church, not just the steeple.

Ingredients:
Papers/Cardstock - 7Gypsies - Broadway
daisy d's Chloe Collection - Daffodil
Bazzill - weave texture - Sunflower
Rhonna Farrer Greetings Rub-ons - Hope

This week's Sketches! Design Team Spotlight is: Jackie Gallagher
Jackie was asked to choose her favorite Sketch from the time she has been on the Sketches! Design Team and she chose Card Sketch #60.

This card came together pretty quickly for me as I used my Scenic Route - Providence - Scrap Strip patterned paper. I have been waiting for just the perfect time to use this beautiful butterfly pendant on a card or scrapbook page and the time finally arrived!!! The image doesn't do it justice though.

Can't Sleep???

Hello Again!
I read in an e-mail a friend's relative was having a rough go of it. This little sentiment came to mind,
"Can't sleep? Don't count sheep...
...talk to the Shepherd."

I know personally when I'm struggling just talking to the Good Lord helps me to calm down and think clearly or in this case rest easy. So this one's for Jessica. God Bless You.

Ingredients:
Bazzill Weave Texture in Green, White & Black
Bazzill Orange Peel Texture in Butter Cream
Ribbons - White small rick rack, Black braid
Cuttlebug - Sophie Die Cut
Sizzix - Lamb
Pop Dots
Stamps - Technique Tuesday - Whirly Gigs
Pen - Signo - uni-ball - White Impact
Ink - Color Box - Fluid Chalk Ink Pad - Lime Pastel
I printed the sentiment on the Butter Cream Bazzill using my computer. The font I used is called Curlz with a font size of 24.

Love Grows When Shared Sketch for A ScrapAddicts Sketches

I started this card for a sketch at Carbone's Corner with A ScrapAddicts Sketches but I'm not sure if it REALLY qualifies. I entered it anyway and we'll see what they say.

Ingredients:
CS - Bazzill Sage - Orange Peel Texture
Stamp - Stampin' Up! (1997) Love Grows
Ink - Rubber Stamp Paintbox - Rainbow
Punch - All Night Media - Corner Punch
PP - Pink Paislee - Spring Fling Collection - Green Lace
PP - Collage Press - Tell Your Story _ Margot
Flowers - Prima - Belle Fleur - Rain Forest
Embossing - Cuttlebug - Paisley Folder
If you didn't know before, between this card and the one below you will know, I LOVE GREEN!!! OH, and I love BLING too! :-)
More costume jewelry here.

PLAYIN' WITH NEW TOYS
I bought an s * e * i scrapbook in a bag kit (winnie's walls 6 x 6 memory book kit) last week and I was playing with it today. Below is what I produced. It's called U R Absolutely Fab!

It's stamped with at least 7 different stamps! I added some rub ons and more of my Prima flowers and some jewelry findings I had in my stash. Oh and I almost forgot, the green check ribbon. What's really cool about this kit is all the patterned papers, 6x6 album, tags, templates, brads, ribbons and instructions come inside!
Of course I went "outside the box" because I made a card instead of a scrapbook page. ;-P What you can't really see from this picture is that behind the green check ribbon, that lower triangle is a pocket. The instructions were for tags to be used to fill the pocket. I tried to make it look like mine was a basket/bouquet of flowers.

Jennifer's Sweet Designs Sketch- Make a Wish - I WON!!!

That's right I won, a RAK from Deanne Burton at
AM I A SCRAP ADDICT?
I'm sooo excited!!! I never win anything and this past week I won two contests. I also won for Abigail's 2nd Birthday (to see this card scroll down to the bottom of this blog page) I made for a challenge at Keep In Touch

So let's just say, "It's been a REALLY great week for me!"
The card below garnered me the RAK.

I bought a Cuttlebug last week and was just playing with it and embossed and cut out these butterflies. Then I saw Jennifer's Sweet Designs Sketch and decided I had to try it using my butterflies.
The background paper was from a Keep In Touch kit and so were the majority of the embellies. The rub-on sentiment is Urban Lily - celebrations. A little glitter and some Bazzill textured cardstock and we're cooking with gas!
