Sanon's Birthday Card & Wishing You warmth, on a cold day.

Howdy!
Just a card I worked on today for Sanon. For those of you who don't know him, Sanon worked with my hubby Mike here in Dallas. But when the company folded Sanon and Mike went to work at different companies. Eventually Sanon's visa ran out and he had to return to Thailand. However, while he was here, we considered him our adopted son. We miss him a lot and since Dec. 6th is his birthday, I made this card.
Everything I used to create this card was FREE except for the Copic markers I used to color the peacock.

Hot Cocoa

This is another card I made just for fun. I think it will still be a holiday card when I figure out the inside sentiment. Again just about everything is free here except for the Stickles and the Ranger red ink. The sentiment on the front is a FireCracker Designs by Pamela stamp.

Dawny P & PaperTakeWeekly Challenge - 1 card, 1 sketch & 1 Challenge

Howdy!
Ok, this was a first for me working on a Dawny P sketch . But it was fun and I decided to use my stamps from FireCracker Designs by Pamela to create this little gem. I needed a "snow" project for the PaperTakeWeekly Challenge so I combined this with the Danwy P sketch and Voila!

This card is 4 x 5 inches. I used a ribbed cs from Bazzill in deep navy blue. I added the light blue cs from CratePaper, the Sweet Branch Collection "Shine" to back my little snow scene. My caption reads "Gifts of Love, Given from the Heart" and was punched with my circle punch, then mounted on my scalloped circle. My little cloisine' heart is a scrap jewelry piece. I also used some little silver beads from my Scarlet Lime kit with my Stickles to similate falling snow. I just love these button brads from K & Co. My water color pencils worked well to color this little snowlady. This little "Charlie Brown" style tree is one of my fav. stamps.
Inside is stamped on pink cs Happy Holidays.

Well, Thanks for Looking...

Beate's #67 - Little Red Dress

Hello Again!
I had this little red dress, which used to be a pendant, that I have been hoarding for months. My friend Sue Meyer bought me this little poodle and I thought she looked so cute in my Little Red Dress. So I put them together for Beate's Weekend Sketch #67. I swiped my red Marvy ink pad on my white cs. Deckled the edges of my sentiment cs.
I just have to say, I LOVE THIS CARD!!!

Marvy Matchables Ink Pad #2 Red

MOJO#61 - I Love You

Hello Again Hello!
Well, I've been here but not able to craft nor blog for a little over a week. My parents arrived on the 10th and they just left this morning. I've been going through major withdrawals!!! Anywhoo. I'm BAAAACK!

My MOJO card is one of love...

Most of the items used in the creation of this card were no name products or at least I could find "no names" on them. :-)
I used the shiny textured cs from Sue as my background for the card. I inked up some white cs with the Fresco Chalk Dye Ink - Vatican Wine because I couldn't find a pink to go with the rest of the items used on the card. I used my zig zag scissors from Provo to edge one of the layers of pp. The tag and all it's embellies were from a sheet I received in a kit a while ago. But there were no names/labels on it either.
For my bottom sentiment I used Creative Imaginations Chipboard Sonnets. The brads are from Imaginisce Stack & Twist. I also used Sue's I Love You stamp as well as her tiny heart stamps to finish off the decoration of my card. I love playing along with Julee's sketches and using my own personal MOJO! LOL

If I can, I'll be back later this afternoon to post another sketch/challenge card from Dawny P or the Paper Take Weekly Challenge.

Zacks' Birthday Was So Much Fun! But very COLD!!!

The birthday boy and his big day!

We got up early Saturday morning and left about 8:30 a.m. It was a 3 1/2 hour drive from Allen, TX to College Station, TX. It was quiet most of the way as dd Jessi, Dad and I napped. Mom stayed awake and chatted to keep Mike company while he drove. As we drove along hwy 45 south, in the north bound lane we saw several of those huge wind turbine blades. We concluded that they were heading to west Texas for T. Boone Pickens to build his wind power turbines to power those small communities. LOL

When we got to College Station we went to Taco Bell for lunch. The party wasn't due to start until 2 p.m. and it was only noon and we had eaten breakfast at 7:30 so we were all a little hungry. When we finished lunch we drove to the party spot; Veteran's Park. It was soccer day at the park! People everywhere and the pavillion stage was taken. So we waited those folks out and then grabbed the three tables up there. It was high and surrounded on three sides by walls. Wind barriers! By the way, did I mention it was COLD!!! I think the temps. were in the upper 40s but the wind was blowing like mad! Soon kids started to show up. There were 6 including Zackary. One little girl didn't sit still long enough to get into the picture.

We let the kids play while Holli (Zack's Mom, our oldest daughter) and her boyfriend Devin cooked the burgers and hot dogs. When the meat was cooked we all ate. Then we had cake!
After everyone had cake and punch, Zack opened his presents and then it was time to disperse. We all loaded up into our respective vehicles and headed back to Holli's. We visited for a while and then we packed Zack up and then Mike (dh), Jessi (dd), Mom, Dad, Zack and I drove home to Allen. We managed to get in just about midnight.

Here's my creative masterpiece! Zack's picnic birthday cake. He really liked it. The big shape in the top right hand corner is a cake at the picnic. We took it off and that was Zack's piece. Everyone said the cake was beautiful and that it really tasted good. I used chocolate layer cake for the bottom and white cake for the top. I used cream cheese frosting for the filling and crumb coat. I covered the cake with fondant. My mom helped me roll out the fondant and roll and shape EACH blade of grass (which went all around the base of the cake) and every little red square. We also did the flowers on the cup cake. All the ants and the picnic food were plastic.

Thanks for looking...

Zackary's Turning 5!

Oh you don't know what a big deal this is in our family!!! Zackary is our only grandchild and my parent's only great grandchild. So every Nov. there's a big "to - do"!
Here's the card I made for my mom and dad to give to Zack. I haven't created my own card yet. I love this froggy stamp. It's a freebie from Sue.

Anywho, I made this card on Thursday morning. But Thursday night had me and my mom elbow deep in fondant and red and green food color paste. Finally about 11 p.m. we finished the cake. I love the base of the cake but the little cupcake on top looks like *$$*! Oh well, I'll pass it off as "the ants ate it". You see, Zack wanted an ant cake. I finally convinced him of a picnic cake. So that's what I made. I rolled white fondant and placed it over the entire cake. Then mixed some red into some white and rolled that out. Mom cut squares and I placed them in a checker board pattern over the white. Once that was complete I added some green to some white fondant and then we started making grass. I don't have a good photo yet. I had to hurry and get it back into the freezer. I will have a photo BEFORE we cut it on Saturday at the party. Oh I almost forgot, I had little plastic ants to decorate the cake. Holli, Zack's mom has some little food items to make up the picnic. I know it'll be cute. Just hope it tastes good! LOL Sorry to tease you. But I am hoping you'll come back on Sunday for the big REVEAL! Heehee

MFTSC56 - Happy Anniversary

I saw some really pretty cards made using Frances Byrne's MFTSC sketch and decided to play along. It really is a neat sketch. Hope I did it justice.
I used my Cuttlebug again and embossed with the snowflakes folder for my two accent strips. I simply cut one row from each side and then I used my chalks to highlight the high spots. I used my Nestibilities and cut the inset and the frame for the "LOVE" sticker. The lovely pattern paper is from Scarlet Lime's November kit.

Here's is the sentiment on the inside.

Ingredients:
pp - Scarlet Lime
cs - Bazzill
snowflakes embossing folder - Cuttlebug
Stamp - freebie - no name

Robyn Weatherspoon's sketch #1 at Outta This Funk

Another first for me and Robyn too I guess. I played with Robyn's sketch on Monday and here's what I came up with.

I used some scraps leftover from another card to add to the corners of my card. Then I punched holes and added the square brads in red and lavender. I cut out an extra sentiment and popped it up with dots for some depth. I added the sequin ornaments and the light bulb buttons for more demention. I just love polka dotted grosgrain ribbons and this red and white was perfect! I colored in my stamped image with my Copic markers and added some silver and gold with my sparkle pens. I tied raffia in the holes of my buttons and called this card done!
Ingredients:
Creative Imaginations pp - Be Jolly Trees
Glitz - pp - Kringle Trees - back - green grunge
Unity Stamp - Sleigh Ride
Copic Markers
Creative Memories - Precious Element - Gold & Silver - glitter pens
buttons, raffia & sequins

Stampin' With Stacy - KWerner's Color Inspiration Challenge #30 - Get Well Soon

Hi!
I tried a new challenge today. I popped on over to Stacey's Stampin' Stage and played along. This one came together pretty quickly. The challenge was to use Kristina Werner's Color Challenge. The colors are old olive, certainly celery, sahara sand and whisper white. I don't have those exact papers so I made do with what I have.
I stamped the sentiment and then rubbed the edges of the cs with the same ink. Again, I am a freak for green so this one is a fav!

Ingredients:
CratePaper - lemon grass collection - lime
Making Memories - GeometricWindow Greenhouse - Paperie
Colorbox liquid chalk - Olive Pastel
Ranger - Clear - embossing powder
Bazzill - Olive weave texture, White smooth texture, Olive Parchment
brads, buttons & ribbons

MOJO Monday #60 - Deck The Halls With Celebration

The sketch at Poetic Artistry was just too, too fun!!! I had to play along. I can't look at this card without smiling! It puts me in the "spirit"!
First of all, I've been hoarding this Glitz - Kringle Trees pp because I love it that much! I used both sides. I don't have a major 6" scallop punch. So I used my 2 5/16" round from The Paper Studio and my 3" round scallop from Marvy. I punched three of each, then I trimmed them to fit the top of my card. I used my Trinity Trio stamp from Unity to stamp my trees. My Copics came in handy for the trees and the ornaments. The frame is a scrap I found in my stash, cut to fit (it had adhesive on the back). I never throw anything away. The sentiment is a no name. I used embroidery floss to string my Christmas light bulbs. Then I wrapped them around my sentiment and tied the ends in a knot.

Ingredients:
Glitz- PP - Kringle Trees
CS- Mustard - no name
Unity Stamps - Trinity Trees
Copic Markers
Stampabilities - Ink
Brads, ribbons, buttons and bulbs

Beate's #65 - A Life Richly Blessed

I started out thinking I would kill to sketches/challenges with one card (this one). But I sorta got off track. Because of this I missed out on participating in a BIG challenge at My Favorite Things. Oh, I finished the challenge but I missed the deadline.
This is the card for Beate's Weekend Sketch #65

The most work that went into this production was the background. I used my watercolor pencils. First I colored with several colors in the red/pink family. Then by scraping my pencils with the x-acto knife I was able to fleck off bits of the lead onto my cs. Then I took my spritzer bottle and spritzed in a few different places. Once the cs was wet enough I was able to drag a dry paint brush over the colors and this gave me a stria (sp?) effect. Then on my sentiment tag I just colored reds, oranges and pinks spritzed and swirled with the paint brush. My golden deer was from a vintage card. I cut him out and mounted him on the black. I added the little white bow. My frame was painted with my gold paint pen. The frame was scalloped with holes in it. I placed the green rhinestones into the holes. I added the flower and the ribbon along with the brad and button to the left top corner of the card. Underneath is another piece of watercolored cs mounted on black shiny cs.
The flower is from Heidi Swapp - crimson florals. I also used Creative Imaginations - Chirstine Adolph's epoxy stickers with a holiday theme. The snetiment reads: A Life Richly Blessed.

As Promised - - - Verve sketches 2,3,4 & 5

Welcome Back!!!

Without further adue- as promised 3 Verve sketches!

VSHR2 - To make this card I was inspired by today's arrival of a kit from my friend Kelly McMaster at Keep In Touch Card Kits. The only products in this kit with labels were the stickers -
Melissa Frances Designer Stickers. But it doesn't title the sticker sheet. I hope this is correct; the sheet is #PP06, they are Christmas stickers. The second photo shows the sticker inside the tag. See below:

I also used my "NEW" multi-function border punch from The Paper Studio on the top flap of the tag.
My tag didn't have a hole in it and I needed a place to run my ribbon through. So, I took my 1/8" round punch and punched two holes 1/4" apart. Then I took my x-acto knife and cut a slit between the two holes. Then I ran my ribbon through and tied a know on one end. Voila! This card was extremely easy to make and could be very quickly reproduced.

Julee sure gave us some FUN sketches this week!!!
VSHR3

I started this card by embossing and sanding the pink peral cs. I love the way it turned out! Just little added highlight! Then I stamped my Elegant Stocking from Unity Stamps. I just think this is a beautiful stamp! I mounted the image onto the red Bazzill cs with the green mini brads. I also mounted the embossed piece on the same cs. I layered the vinyl overlay onto the pp. I attahced it with the jumbo pink glitter brads. I stamped my Merry Christmas (no name) stamp onto more of the pink pearly cs and then mounted on the red. I added all the embellies and I'm really pleased with this card. Hope you like it too!!!
Ingredients:
ki Memories - sheer delights - greenery - vinyl overlay
Creative Imaginations - Signature Collection - PP
Unity Co. - Stocking of Elegance - stamp
Red Copic - Marker

Ok last one!

I had this stamp of 5 Santas and 4 stars. But I could only use three images in the sketch. Sooo, that meant, ink one Santa and one star and stamp. Then repeat with two other Santas and stars. This beautiful pattern paper came in my kit today it's from daisy d's. I received another 'free' gift this week from my friend Sue Meyer; a bag full of beautiful red and white ribbons. Some came from Wally World and some is Offray. All very pretty. Thanks Sue.

MOJO#59, Lilacs & Lupines RAK Challenge #3, Holiday Release Sketch Blitz - Day 1

My friend Sue Meyer arrived at 10:30 a.m. and we headed to my craft room. She sat with her back to me and sewed children's clothes (some really cute stuff!). I sat with my back to her and created cards. We chatted and stopped every now and then to exchange comments about each other's projects. Sue's a very creative person in her own right. She runs a booth in the local Antique/Craft Mall. Her hubs Rick & my Mike met at a radio convention last spring and we've all become fast friends! Anywho she helped me put some patterns and colors together and I helped her with some of the items she uses on her kiddy garments. I think I'll take some pix next time she comes to show off her stuff!
Now on to the card sketches!!!
Two sketches in one...
The card above was created for the Mojo Monday Challenge at Julee's blog and for the Random Act of Kindness Challenge #3 at Lupines & Lilacs. The challenge was to create a card or altered item, post it to your blog (if you have one) with a little story of the W's (what, where, when, etc you can leave names out if you mind) and how your card/altered item is going to touch someones life.
A kinda "Pay It Forward" challenge.
My card is created for my long time friend Lenny Alleman back in Louisiana. That's my WHO. Lenny has been a good friend for many years. I worked at a day care center for 5 years and Lenny brought her children there. That's WHEN & WHERE we met! Lenny's husband Arvin did repair work on my A/C in exchange for my after hours babysitting. When we moved to Texas they came and visited us a few times. But since 1978 we've kept in touch.
Just a few months ago Lenny was diagnosed with breast cancer. That's my WHAT. I had no clue until a month or so after she'd been diagnosed. She'd already had surgery and started chemo. Through the days, weeks, months that past I kept writing to her and sending my love and prayers her way. I'd been creating cards and sending them to her with my well wishes. At some point in her therapy process, Lenny sent me a card she had made herself! She complained that it wasn't nearly as pretty and fancy as mine but she'd attempted to create something for me! So I continued to send her my cards and encourage her about HER progress. Last month I sent Lenny a care package of scrap and card making stuff! Yesterday I got a Halloween card from her! See below...
Front of Lenny's card.

Inside of Lenny's card.
I'm sending my card to Lenny, because she is still going through treatments and needs encouragement and uplifting EVERY STINKIN' DAY!!! That's my WHY. She says she is doing ok and is working with the products I sent her. I love this exchange between the two of us. I love knowing my cards cheer her up. I love knowing I gave her something to do to take her mind off of needles and tubes and drab hospital rooms. I LOVE my friend!!!
GET WELL SOON, LENNY PIE!!!!

Ingredients for my card:
Pink Paislee - Retro Spring - Stamp
FireCracker - sentiment - stamp
Scarlet Lime - polka dot pp - Olive Polka Scalloped Interface - by Alexx Kesh

Embellies - Keep In Touch Kit
Ribbons from Sue's collection

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Created for the Holiday Release Sketch Blitz - Day 1.
For the card below I used my Verve Stamp - happy birthday from the Birthday Surprises collection. Ribbons, buttons and butterfly are from my Nov. Scarlet Lime kit.
I used white cardstock and navy cardstock from Bazzill. My sentiment was stamped with the Happy Birthday stamp from Verve.
It was a fun creative day!
Tomorrow is a doctor's visit so I may not get to play until late afternoon. I may get more challenges done tonight as there will not be much to watch on TV with the election results running non - stop. :-)
Thanks for Looking.
Three new Sketches!!! Scarlet Lime November Kit!!!
Hello Again:
Well, my Scarlet Lime kit for November arrived today and I fell in love with the pattern papers. two of them in particular. These pattern papers are created specifially for Scarlet Lime and there are no names on them.
This first card is for the sketch at CCEE's A Sketchy Challenge
Everything but the background cardstock & vellum is from the Scarlet Lime kit. even the stamp is a Scarlet Lime original!!!
Ingredients:
Scarlet Lime November Kit-
Life Is Beautiful - stamp
daisy d's - A Village Market Journaling - stickers
Crate Paper - Prudence Coll. - glitter borders
All embellies, fabric swatch & lace - Scarlet Lime kit
These next two sketches looked pretty easy so I had fun trying them out.
This next card is for A Scrap Addicts Sketch #1
For this card I found a piece of corrugated cardstock and cut a strip to fit across the top of my card. Of course again, about 50% of this card is Scarlet Lime kit products. However the stamps are freebies from Sue S. So is the corrugated cs and the shiney embossed paper the heart is stamped on.
First off, I cut the Paper Pizazz - Vellum Swirls to cover the patern paper from the kit. I really am playing with vellum a lot these days. Don't worry soon I'll move on to another product I can't work without. :-) The second step was to stamp and emboss my image and my sentiment. I used the Stampabilities - Black ink I am sooo fond of and embossed with the Ranger clear powder. Then I adhered my corrugated cs (inked the edges with Color Box - Prussian Blue ink and added the Crate Paper - Prudence Collection - glitter border for another layer. I added the black shiney cs as backgrounds for my image and sentiment. I pop them up with dots. Cut this beautiful piece of lace from the kit and glued it on. The little flowers on my sentiment are from Cloud9 - Embellishment Kit - Finley's Estate.
I'm really liking this card!
This next card is for A Scrap Addicts Sketch #2
More Scarlet Lime...
Ingredients:
Scarlet Lime Kit
Provencial Fare - Stickers - tinkering ink
Cloud9 - Embellishment kit - Finley's Estate - Rain Dots
Hello Sunday!!!
Well, it's acutally Monday morning, early now. But I wanted to tell you all about my Sunday. Mike and I left about 10 a.m. for points unknown. We got on hwy 75 headed south and encountered a motorcycle club of some 800+ bikers traveling to a fund raiser for a Collin County (my county) children's organization. Every on-ramp to the freeway was blocked off for 4 miles. It was crazy! But I did get a giggle every now and then when I would see a big burly biker with his tats and bandana and somewhere on his bike was a stuffed animal or 2 or 3! It brought a tear to my eyes. This is the fastest growing club in the country and the woman on the radio said who they were but I don't remember. But I'd just like to extend a big "Thank You" to all those bikers out there who donate their weekends to benefit children. Well, Mike (the hubs) got tired of waiting in line to to get on the freeway so he took a detour and we headed east!
We drove through some pretty countryside and saw some beautiful fall color, even if it was 81 degrees in NC Texas! Sorry, no pix. Mike doesn't like to stop and go very often. He did, however, have to stop at one point. We had a flat tire. :-( We ended up in Wal-Mart's Tire & Lube Center in Canton, TX. We sat for about an hour while we waited for Dale to find us a new tire and put that baby on our mini. When it was finally done we were outta there. We headed out to Tyler, about 30 miles away and ate salads at the Sonic. I also had my favorite drink from there, diet cherry limeade. YUMMO! After which, we picked up Starbucks and headed home.
We arrived here about 8:45 p.m.
We watched a recorded episode of Texas Country Reporter and todays Amazing Race episode. WHY, why, why, are there sooo many whiners on this season??? Poor Phil, I sure hope he doesn't have to listen to them like we do.
Ok, I'm off to bed. It's almost 1 a.m. Monday.
Tamara's Sketch #40 Guest Designer, Love, Honor & Cherish
I really liked the idea of panels on this sketch. I immediately saw them as panels of a larger stamp cut into strips. So that's what I did. The stamps are no names. I used my watercolor pencils to color the flowers and background. I then cut and mounted the panels. After which I cut a piece of vellum oversized. I colored in two of the flower stickers from Memories Complete (grandparents). I then stacked them and popped the smaller one up. I added the metal butterflies & heart from Scarlet Lime
My satin ribbon was white so I used my Fresco Chalk Inkpads in Vatican Wine and Sicillian Spice to stain it a matching color. I also used them on my background after which I deckled the edges and mounted my sentiment onto. Voila!
CBCC Tuesday #11- Gone Fishin'
Oh, I just had to play with this sketch by Courtney at Created by Courtney.
It was a great challenge. I varied from the exact layout but I think I got the gist of it! I've been holding on to this splash pattern paper from American Crafts. The name everyday HOW'S IT GOING? appears on the label line, but for some reason that just doesn't seem to jive with the pattern to me. Oh well, I don't name `em, I just create with `em! :-)
I got more free goodies from my friend Sue Siebens on Thursday night!!! Thanks Sue!
I'm trying to highlight the hook I made with my wire and my jewelry pliers here.
I used my Copic markers to color my fish. I hope he looks authentic, I didn't want to make him cartoonish.
In my gifts from Sue was this fabulous mesh! Ok, I know there are sticklers out there for product names and I swear I couldn't find one. But she had some of this in Gold as well as this silver! Also all the little embellies ( tiny fish, feathers, rhinestones, rope w/tassle and ribbons) are freebies from Sue as well. Ha! Even the no name fish stamp is one of Sue's!
It's nice when you can create and it didn't cost you a dime!!! My fishing pole was created from cutting and breaking away a portion of a popsicle stick. The wire is from some old jewelry findings and the silver beads were in a Scarlet Lime kit.
"Thanks for notic`in me." EEYORE
