It's TEXAS BLUEBONNET TIME!!!

Hello Again!
It's beginning to look a lot like SPRINGTIME!

Picture #1 was taken on a country road outside of Ennis, TX.

Picture #2 was taken on the roadside of HWY 45 - the exit to Ennis, TX

Picture #3 was taken outside of India, TXEver seen a real LIVE road runner??? Well this fellow was with it's mate, but by the time I got the camera situated one had escaped my lens. Picture #4 taken outside of McKinney, TX
Picture #5 was taken of the Plano, TX Hot Air Balloons landing in Prosper, TX

Picture #6 was taken on a dirt road outside of India, TX.
Sometimes the things we see make me just scream, "I gotta have a picture of that!" This was one of those times.

And to that I have 2 things to say; "Don't Mess With Texas" & "Keep America Beautiful, Don't Litter".

Hope you enjoyed your little trip around North Texas as much as we did!

SASSC9 - Hope

Hi Yall!!!
Well, what is up with this CRA-ZEE weather??? Yesterday here in N. TX is was in the 70s nearing 80. Today it's raining and cloudy and in the 60s and in the wee hours of the morning we are expecting a possibility of snow flurries! CRA-ZEE!
On to my card...
So for the Sweet N' Sassy sketch challenge at PCP I decided to do a Spring look card with an inspirational quote. My flowers were all stamped separately and colored then cut out.

Then I put a piece of scrap cs through my Cuttlebug using a floral edge & Swiss Dots embossing folders. Then I smudged on some ink in country green to highlight the embossing. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of pale pink ppand then used my 3" scalloped circle punch to cut it out. I used the same punch on the backing piece. I punched holes and added the bronze brads for a little bit of a metal look.
Ingredients: Cuttlebug, Stampabilities, Basic Grey, Unity Stamps, There She Goes Stamps, Paper Makeup Stamps, Color Blast Ink

Droopy the Wonder Doxie... 09/09/1994 to 03/21/2009 R.I.P.

Unless you know me personally you probably don't know who Droopy is. Well, he was our companion. He was our baby boy. He was our furry friend. We bought Droopy 14 1/2 years ago from a pet store in Tomball, TX as a puppy. It was a love at first site thing; he was reddish brown in color and his eyes were green and his nose was red. He was the cutest little Dachshund I'd ever seen. I protested for several months after our previous furry friend Pepper had to be put down, that I was NOT ready for another pet. But when I saw Droopy, my heart melted and I didn't care what the cost, I wanted him! Well, sadly on Saturday, March 21, 2009, Droopy went to doggy heaven. He did not eat for two days and drank very little. He had just been diagnosed with canine diabetes on the 19th. He was put on insulin and a special diet. He didn't really like the food, but I believe there was something else going on that we just didn't know about. I watched my sweet old boy's jaunty strut turn into a struggle to stand and walk. It was breaking my heart. So my husband and I made the decision to relieve Droopy of his suffering. We've both been in a sad state for the past 30+ hours. Can't talk to each other or anyone else about Droopy without crying. Needless to say, I haven't been very creative this past week & weekend. I promise if you stick with me though, this coming week I'll try to do better. March has been one heck of a month for me. Please April get here quick!

Below is my favorite picture of Droopy and our grandson Zackary. This photo was taken in 2003 when Zack was about 4-5 months old. These two were fast and furious friends from early on. I'd put Zack down on a blanket or quilt all the time and Droopy would either lay next to him OR he'd stand guard. These two loved each other and they are my 2 favorite boys! Zackary, at 5 years old, called me Saturday night and said to me, "Nana, I'm so sad. Droopy is gone and I'll never see him again. He was a really good dog. I miss him." Choking back tears, I said, "Me too baby. Me too."

If you managed to read this far, Thanks. Please remember Droopy in a HAPPY HEALTHY place.
Side Note* Monday evening, March 23, 2009. Zackary called tonight. He saw Droopy in a cloud!

More Doctors and a little MOJO Monday - Dearest Friend

Hi There! I know you are probably getting tired of hearing how sick I am. I know I'm tired of being sick. Today was another trip to the doctor. During the day on Weds. I developed a lump in my neck (swollen gland). Normally I'd think nothing of it, but it hurts! AND in 2003 I had a swollen painful gland in my neck and it turned out to be a blood clot in my left jugular. SOOO back to the dr. I went today. Also having some muscle spasms in my left side/back. After some meds. for the muscles I was sent to the lab for an ultrasound on my neck. Good news, no clots. Bad news, I still hurt!!! So I haven't felt like crafting today. I made my Monday MOJO card last night when I couldn't sleep. It's no great prize but it took my mind off the pain for a little while. On top of all mine and hub's bronchitis and other stuff, our little doxie Droopy (15 years old) was diagnosed with diabetes. So now we have to give him shots of insulin twice a day. In the words of Scarlet O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day!"

STRC40 - Sletches by Tamara Recipe Challenge #40 - Be Yourself!

Hello Again! This is a 2 - fer...

This little charming jumping girl is from Stamping Bella . She was a free download. I love her! She's just too stinkin' cute and perfect for Spring! She was all the inspiration I needed but I used the recipe challenge at Sketches by Tamara to complete my card. You need to use 3 different pattern papers, stars and staples. I managed to work 3 pp in and my stars are pretty obvious, and the staples are holding on my ribbon. The photo doesn't really do the ribbon justice. It's all iridescent and sparkly. The other challenge was from Cuttlebug Challenges . The challenge is to use your punches in a different way. So I chose to use the bits that fall out of the punch instead of the negative spaces. Hence the stars. I guess they can disqualify me if they want to because I didn't use my Cuttlebug. Hey, the ball is in their court. LOL
Of course I used my favorite method for coloring my image - SPICAS!!!! If you haven't checked out Stamping Bella yet please go by and give them a look see. They have some fab NEW Ketto images that are just precious. In the next couple of days I'll be creating some cards using my most recent Ketto purchases. I am waiting a shipment today!
Ingredients: Stampin' Up! - cs, Keep In Touch Kit - ribbons and sentiment, Stamping Bella - image, Spica, ChatterBox Inc. - pp, Bo Bunny - pp, Prima - pp Harmony collection, Stickles, Martha Stewart star border punch

Anyhoo, this card (tag) was created for the Inspirational Card Sketch challenge #8. I happened to see Fink's cute creation on her blog Fink's Happenings. I really thought it would be a fun challenge. Kazan's Sketch 22 & Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge 7

I have to admit, this is the first time I have played along with a Flourishes challenge. The challenge is to use ribbon. Along with the Flourishes challenge I decided to use Kazan's sketch 22 as my jumping off point. I am so happy with my creation. I know there's another challenge in here as well but I can't remember who posted it. The other challenge is to use food on your creation. I used this adorable cherry pp. Ingredients: Everything you see here except for the cs is from Keep In Touch Kits. Cardstock is Bazzill.

Just for fun!!!

I received an order from Keep In Touch kits today and I just couldn't wait to play. Now I haven't found a challenge or sketch that this card goes with so, I am saying it's just for the fun of creating!
You can see I was a little impatient to photograph this one, the glue is still a little wet.

Ingredients: Keep In Touch Kits and a few items from my Canadian friend Dani.

Dani sent me some Oriental embellies several months ago when I botched my first attempt at an Oriental themed card. Dani this card is for YOU!!!!

PTW - March 9, 2009 - You're a Star

I know I'm a little late with this one but when I saw the sketch I just wanted to play. This card is for Dawny's sketch on Paper Take Weekly. I stamped my image on Kraft cs. Then I used Spicas to color it in. I love these sparkling pens. The pp is Sassafrass Lass and the red cs is Stampin' Up! There's not a lot to this card and I must admit it took me about 20 minutes to put this one together.

2S4Y Bonus Sketch - Happy Birthday

This little guy reminds me sooo much of my grandboy, Zackary. He loves to play in the dirt and with rocks and plants. I created this card for the Bonus Sketch at 2S4Y. This little fellow I purchased as a download from Paper MakeUp Stamps. They named him Jack, but my little boy is Zack! I just love these dp by Chatterbox. They just meld so well and brown and white make great accents.
I first cut my image out with my scallop circle punch. Then using my MS cutting system I cut one circle of the floral dp and one of SU brown cs. I matted my image and then used pop dots to raise it all up. My organza ribbon was from an old kit. I stamped my sentiment and then punched holes and added brads. I colored my "Zack" in with Spicas. Then I used my watercolor pencils to color his skin and the background. I used my blender pen and it was fini'!

CPS107 - Psalm 24:15

This is my card for the CPS 107 sketch challenge.
I made this card last night, as soon as I saw the post for the sketch. I love the way it turned out! Too much fun! Yes this is a tri-fold card. I added the sleeve to keep it closed. It was pretty easy to make. I cut an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of green cs down to 5 1/2 x 9 1/2. Then I scored the cs at 2 1/2 and at 6 1/2 and folded. I used the cornice edger on the 3 inch end. Then I cut my pp 1/8 inch smaller all the way around and used the cornice edger again.
The sleeve is 2 x 9 and then the green cs is 1/8 smaller all the way around.

Open view.

PCPALOTA7 - Buzz Me

I love this card!!! Alota Rubber Stamps is having a color challenge at PCP. The colors in the challenge are - Pink, Purple & Green. I think I covered all the bases. Hubs and I took a road trip today. Still sick but just couldn't be cooped up in the house another day. We drove to Paris (that's Texas) and we stopped at some antique shops along the way. When we got back to McKinney we stopped at super Wal-Mart and hubs went into the scrapping department and bought me Martha Stewart's circle cutting system, doily lace edger, cornice edger and a single heart punch. Yeah, he spoils me! Ha!! That said, I used all of them on this card. Can you guess how I used the heart punch? Don't see it???? Well, I used it to make a decorative matte for my image.
I stamped my images in black, heat embossed and then colored them in. The lavendar & green cs are SU and the deep purple dotted swiss cs is Bazzill. My sentiment is computer generated.

The Pink Elephant Challenge #5 - Miss You

My card is for the color challenge at The Pink Elephant. The colors in the challenge are pink, green & brown. I am addicted to this pp from JilliBean Soup. I used Stampin' Up! brown cs for my background. Then the JilliBean Soup pp. I used SU pink cs and I edged both the pp and the pink cs with my Martha Stewart Zig Zag edger. I stamped my sentiment on a small piece of cs I put through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. Then I used my round and scallop round punches on my sentiment.
Now, to my elephant, my girlfriends and I back in high school used to write notes. I always drew this little elephant and across her butt I used to write "The End" to close my notes. I hand drew this elephant and cut her out and mounted her on the lime green cs. I added a little piece of pink checked ribbon to her tail. I used the ColorBox Chalk Ink pad to color her.

SC219 - Grateful

My little birdie was created for the sketch challenge at SCS sketch challenge #219. I loved the sketch and felt it was quite different from others I've seen out there.
I just love all the pp in this Jillibean Soup Collection Cream of Mushroom Soup. They play well together.
I stamped my little birdie first then I heat embossed. Then I stamped my frame around her and heat embossed. Next I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. My background cs is a parchment color and then my elements are matted with a brown to match my ink stamping. The ribbon, button and little crochet flower are all from past kits.

2Sketches4You sketch21 - Groovy Baby

Yesterday, when this shipment from Unity Stamp Co arrived in my mailbox, I was smitten!!! This set is soooo darn cute! (As a teenager in the 70s) These stamps were right up my alley and brought back some fond memories. I felt the pp from The Paper Studio was the perfect background for my "flower child" card. I'm not sure this is what the designer had in mind when she/he created this set of stamps but it works for me! I stamped the mushroom, and turtles twice and used dimensionals. I stamped the hearts 3 times and used dimensionals. I cut two of the daisies from my pp and used dimensionals. So I proceeded to use the sketch from 2S4Y to create this card. AND I LOVE IT!!! Hope you do too!

Deanne Burton's Sisterhood of Scrap sketch - Happy Easter

Hello:
I've been sick for the past week and I haven't been able to be as creative as I would have liked. I miss the sketch challenges I normally participate in. But this bug has a hold on me and it doesn't seem like it'll let me go any time soon. I worked on this card on Friday afternoon and evening. I am finally getting it posted now.

So I saw this sketch on Deanne's sketch blog and I wanted to play along. I used my Martha Stewart edger on both the white and the pink cs and on just one end of the purple for my sentiment. I tried to incorporate all the elements the sketch called for. I love this egg stamp! I just had to stamp it in gold and I used gold embossing powder on it as well. My sentiment is computer generated.

Ingredients: Stampin' Up! - cs, Imaginisce - flower, Petaloo - flower, Alota Rubber Stamps - egg, old jewelry pieces, Cuttlebug - D'Vine Swirls

Alota6 - Dog Gone Happy... You're Home!

Hello!
Well, from the moment I saw this little happy pup I knew I wanted to use him for the Alota6 challenge at PaperCraftPlanet. He reminds me of Pluto. I stamped him on white cs then I used my red chalk and applied it with a Q-Tip. I colored him with brown Copic and gold Spica.
Then with my deckle edged scissors I cut him out and matted him with a piece of red cs and another piece of black cs.
I used the same application for my sentiment. My little pup is just sooo Dog Gone Happy!
My little charm reads, "Bad to the Bone".

My thought process with this card was for someone who may have been in the hospital or on a LONG trip away and when they returned home, I was just so "Dog Gone Happy" they were home again!

SC218 - Dream Big

For some reason I've been using my Cuttlebug a lot lately. It's really hard to tell in this photo but I used a flower border embossing folder on the light blue strips then I punched them with my Stampin' Up! scalloped edger. The image is from an old Scarlet Lime kit. I stamped it with ColorBox Chalk Ink in Rouge then I heat embossed it. I tore the edges and then used my Fresco Chalk ink pad in Vatican Wine to distress the edges. I then edged the top and bottom with eyelet lace and a piece of chiffon baby blue ribbon on top. The flower is Imaginisce and the buttons are from Keep In Touch card kits.

You might want to click on the photo to blow it up to see all the details. I love the way it turned out. CS is from Stampin' Up! Oh and I believe the ghost flower is from Jenni Bowlin or is it Heidi Swapp???

CPS105 - Just A Note

Ok, sometimes men can be REALLY dense. Hubs is no exception. When I completed this card I asked him what he thought; now this man is a stamp collector. You tell me, isn't it self explanatory???

Bless his heart he just didn't get it and I had to explain that the four images were postage stamps. Anyhoo, this card is for the CPS sketch challenge 105. This challenge is sponsored by my favorite card kit shop Kelly's Keep In Touch kits.
I cuttled with my Cuttlebug, a bunch! I sent my green cs through first. Then I used the postage stamp die and cut four squares. Then I used the postage stamp embossing folders for my four images. I colored with green and red. I used the tag die and cut my semtiment.

MOJO MONDAY 76 - escape

This one is for Julee's MOJO Monday sketch challenge #76. I always enjoy playing with Julee's sketches. And this time was no exception. I really do love the simpicity of this Imaginisce tree (fairest of them all). I stamped it in another shade of green and added some pink Spica ink to it. The ribbon set the color pattern on this one. I sent my green cs through my Cuttlebug with the D'Vine Swirls folder. I layered everything on top and I used my Creative Memories corner punch on most of the layers.

TECC57 - What's the dirt?

Howdy!
I picked the Pat the Bad Dog set to create this card for Taylor's sketch challenge this week. Now I really don't think Pat is a "bad dog", he just can't find his ball for a game of fetch. Don't you just love this little charm? My friend Sue Meyer is constantly giving me gifts. One day she arrived with this little mesh bag and all these little doggie charms she found in a $1 bin at Hobby Lobby. Thanks Sue! I actually won this stamp set from a drawing at Our Craft Lounge. I love all things dog!!!

Okay now to the card. I used a ruby red cs for my card base. Then I cut a piece of Basic Grey cupcake confetti pp. I used a scrap of a hot pink cs and a piece of green apple vellum, layered and edged with my Stampin' Up! edger. I punched the holes a little bigger and used some brads from my friend Dani in Canada. Thanks Dani! My Spellbinders came in handy for framing Pat. Spicas added color. TFL

LOTVSC20 - Lili of the Valley Sketch Challenge 20 - Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Another *new* challenge for me. This one looked a little intimidating, so I had to play!

I just stumbled across the Lili of the Valley Challenge Blog and thought I'd give their challenge a go.

I embossed my cs using the Perfectly Paisley folder in my Cuttlebug. Then I smudged the design with the Copper Metallic ink. I stamped my 3 flowers separately and used dry embossing on them. I cut them out. Then I took the Baja Breeze and Ruby Red cardstocks and ran them both through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss dots and D-Vine Swirls. Then I smudged them as well. Then I took all the separate elements and attached them. Voila!
