Stampin' Out Alzeheimers

Stampin' Out Alzeheimers

I'm sure you've all heard about this by now - but I wanted to tell you about the widget I added to my top right sidebar. Once again the stamping community is rallying together to help fight this horrible disease. Here's what's going on, borrowed directly from Melanie's blog...Jen Tapler, from Jen Tapler Designs, and Susanna Boyd of Card of the Week are hosting a 7 day stamping and scrapbooking event to help raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's Disease. Alzheimer's Disease is currently the 7th leading cause of death in the United States. It is a fatal, progressive disease that slowly robs a person of their precious memories. We are involved in the memory preservation hobbies - so what better cause for the papercrafting community to join together to support? The site, Stampin Out Alzheimers.ning.com, will feature a variety of challenges, contests, classes and more in different paper crafting categories (stamping, cardmaking, paperscrapbooking, digi scrapping, hybrid, etc) - with prizes donated by over 30 generous sponsors. It's set up as a "Pay to Play" community. For a small donation (any amount will do), you'll get permission to join the online community which will be up from May 25 to June 1st. 100% of these funds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association to help with their efforts to provide and enhance care and support for all those affected by this heartbreaking disease. The site isn't "live" yet - it will open soon and the events will begin on Monday. For a quick link to join and make a donation, check out the widget in my sidebar. Check out the video on Paper Craft Planet's home page for a special mesage from Susanna and more about the event by clicking here.I'd LOVE it if you'd share the badge (see it on the sidebar on the right? just click where it says "add to site" and it will give you the html to copy and paste) on your blog and help us spread the word! We'd like this to be the largest community fund raising effort in the stamping and scrapbooking space. Please help. You'll help us raise awareness and money for Alzheimer's.

Verve VLVMay03 front, inside and back - Across the Miles

Another late night!
It's been a while since I played with one of these challenges. I simply forgot they were going on. But tonight I was looking for something fun to challenge me and I stumbled upon this sketch and "FAVORITES" challenge - use your favorite color combo, embellishments & Verve stamps (or other favorite stamp).
Here's the sketch:
This is the front of my card. I cut the bird and the flowers from the Whimsy stacks pp. The border on the left side is from the All Dressed Up stacks. I cut 2 pieces from one sheet and glued them together. I added ribbon, mini envelope and rub on from a Keep In Touch kit. I layered a transparency to the right half of my card front. My favs: Color Combo - GREEN, black, blue & white, Embellishments - brads, ribbons, rub - ons, Verve Stamp - my favorite Verve stamps are the scripture ones ( I didn't use any stamps on my card though). This is the INSIDE. More of the Whimsy Stacks pp.
This is the BACK. Still More of the Whimsy stacks pp.
Ingredients: DCWV stacks - Whimsy, All Dressed Up, Sweets

PCPCuttlebug-ers26 & USS06 - Fabulous Dad

Hi There!
After a long afternoon/evening road trip I came home and got right to work on my Challenge for the Cuttlebug-ers at PCP. I sure hope you will play along with us this week. The Cuttlebug-ers 26th challenge is to use metal or foil in your Cuttlebug. I used a piece of copper and the Floral Fantasy embossing folder in my Cuttlebug. Then I took my heat embossing tool and heated up the copper. This speed tarnishes the copper. It's not very noticable in my photo but the heated spots change from the normal copper color to different shades of blue and purple, depending on how long you heat the metal. I saw this effect on Carol Duvall's show a long time ago and totally forgot I had this copper until I started thinking about this challenge. I used Unscripted Sketches #26 to create my card.
A HAPPY FATHER'S DAY card for the Hubs!!!
Ingredients: Copper, all embellishments are from Keep In Touch Kits.
BELOW is my 1ST attempt at the CB#26 challenge but you can't really see the embossing.

USS05/JI11 - A 2-fer - Why the long face?

You're Baaack!!!
This card is for: Jazzy's Inspiration Challenge #11 & Unscripted Sketches Saturday Sketch Challenge #05. Here's Jazzy's inspiration for this week.

Judging from the sketch this looked pretty simple. But I cut everything out and then realized I'd gathered too many elements. So I had to cut back. I finally settled on this. So I believe I used the correct colors and the sketch is right. What do you think?
Ingredients: PollyCraft - image & sentiment, Love Elsoe - notebook paper, DCWV - All Dressed Up Stack - pp, Bazzill - red, white & black cs, ribbon & staples.

MFTSC81 - What's the Dish?

Hi There! Glad you stopped in!
This is my card for the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #81 presented by Cindy Haffner.
I'm not sure my card qualifies but I'm posting it just the same. When I saw the pp in the DCWV The Pets Stack I had to use it! So I started cutting out bits I wanted to use to make a scene. The only stamps used on this card are the paw prints. All the other elements for the scene were cut from the pp. The paw prints on the front are stamped in ColorBox Sky Blue and then embossed with clear powder. The base cardstock is also from the stack and it has little doggy bones on it. The swirlie is just the number 6 cut from white cardstock I colored with my Copic marker #B12.

The 'dish' popped up on dimensionals on the front of my card. I drew on the grass with Copic marker #G99. I used the Martha Stewart picket fence border on the top of the front of my card to add a little more color on the brown. I used the zig zag Nestie to cut the frame for my window.

Thanks For Looking!

CCTC60 - Happy 16th Birthday

Last call for the night or first call for the morning...
This one was created for my Godson, Joshua who is turning 16 in June. But it's also the card I made for this week's Cute Card Thursday Challenge #60. I used my Cicut to cut my numbers and the th is handwritten. I used JustRite Stamps Happy Birthday stamp. I masked Happy to stamp Birthday and then I masked Birthday to stamp Happy. I colored my numbers with Stampin' Up markers and then went back over them with my clear glitter gel pen. PP is from Basic Grey's Lime Rickey paper pack and the others are from DCWV All Dressed Up stack. As this is a card for a young man I didn't add a lot of embellies, I simply placed a piece of white ribbon on an angel. I used the Martha Stewart stars border punch. Voila!

2S4YS26 - It's Party Time & Bonus Sketch - Longing to see you!

I'm Baaack!!
Here's more of those wonderful glitsy pp from DCWV Stacks. These are from All Dressed Up Stack and Sweet Stack. The cupcake cake is cut from one of the pp in The Sweet Stack. The flowers are from Petaloo. The card stock is from Bazzill; it came cut with the scalloped edge. This is a tri - fold card. I made a belly band from chocolate rick rack. I also used two Martha Stewart border punches for this. This one was made for Kazan's Sketch. I may be back later with my creation for 2 Sketches 4 You's Bonus sketch. Here's my Bonus card. My grandson, Zack called me on Tuesday night and he was missing his Nana. So I had to make him a card. I'm not crazy about this card. May have to do another for the sketch. But tomorrow this one goes out in the morning mail to Zack. Love you Buddy.

SK050909 - Happy Birthday Cupcake

Hello Again!
I just finished this one and had to get it posted. I am thrilled with it! This one is for the PaperCraftPlanet Sketch Challenge for 05/09/09. Don't you just love this color combo of pinks and chocolate? I know I do. I used to think blue and black were universal colors that went with everything. Now I think brown 'fits' in that category as well. I love mixing brown with pink, or blue or green or ever orange. I think it goes well with all of them. I added a bit of shimmer here with this wonderful shimmer pp from the All Dressed Up Stack from DCWV. I also matted my cupcake & sentiment on a silver cs.

Ingredients: Bazzill - cs, DCWV - pp, Imaginisce - cupcake stamp & brads, JustRite Stamps - sentiment, Martha Stewart - border punches, Rick Rack

ART SHARE/BLOG CANDY - From Snoop in Missouri

Hello & Welcome:
I just wanted to post the first gift I received from my Art Share/Blog Candy Exchange. This beautiful Note Card Set is from my friend Snoopy. Snoopy and I are both members of Card_Crafts_Group @ Yahoo.com. Snoopy is a very telented card maker. I have always enjoyed swappin g cards with her. I was sooo happy when she signed up to play along with the AS/BC Exchange. But I was even HAPPIER when this arrived in the mail the Saturday before Mother's Day. Isn't it stunning. Photos don't do it justice. Snoopy embossed the white cs with the sheet music folder in her Cuttlebug. She not only made the folder to hold the cards but she made 4 cards as well. Each one as lovely as the next.
Thanks 'Snoop Dawg' ever so much!
Please drop by Snoopy's blog and see how wonderfully creative she is. And PLEASE leave her some love!

I have The Pet Stack, The All Dressed Up Stack, The Sweet Stack, The Whimsy Stack, and The Pocket Full of Posies Stack. PPCW16 - NOT SWINE FLU!

Hi There:
No this is not a card about the "Swine Flu". This card was created for PaperPlay Challenges Week 16 challenge Flying High, use wings. So I have a little pink butterfly on Miss Piggy's knee and a dragonfly about to light on my flower. Miss Piggy likes bling! She has rhinestones everywhere! From the top of her sunbrella to the dots on her beach towel. She's so shiney!
I used my Nestie and cut Miss Piggy's scene out. Then I took another piece of cs - the hot pink, and cut slits with my exacto and slipped the top pieces into those slits. I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder over Miss Piggy and the hot pink. I came back with Spica and highlighted some of the embossed dots. Ingredients: Bazzill - cardstock, PollyCraft - image, Spicas, Copics and gel glitter pen, Cuttlebug, Nestibilities, Kaiser - rhinestones, Provo Craft - Art Accentz - dragonfly, Keep In Touch - embellies

CPS113 & Seasons Card_Craft_Swaps - Seasons in the Sun

Hey!
Sheesh, I have been fighting with my printer for the past 2 hours. It's new-ish and I can not seem to get it to print on colored cardstock which is REALLY pi$$ing me off! Anywhoo, I got it to print on plain white and it's okay. The theme for this swap was to do a card representing the seasons or a season. I used my Rubber Stamp Paintbox by ClearSnap and stamped my Unity Tree in a rainbow of colors to represent my seasons. I smudged ink in blue and green to make my sky and my ground. I added Copic orange to my Imaginisce flowers to give them a little more seasonal color. The sentiment is computer generated. I used the sketch from CPS113.
