Friend - CSBZNMay2010sample & SPDS March

Friend - CardSketchesByZacksNana - May 2010 example card & SoftPencil Digital Studio March Challenge ribbons & bows. The little Japanese girl is one of SoftPencil's digitals. Isn't she just too cute! I had some scrap designer paper from Tinkering Ink Botanical Bliss paper pad. I don't know about you but when I think anything Asian or Oriental I think red, black and gold. Below you will see snapshots of how I created the black matte for my image and for the frame.
1) I used my 2 5/16" circle punch and punced my image. Then I punched a piece of black cardstock with my 3" scalloped circle. Then I used my 1" circle punch and punched around the white circle cutting half a scallop a whole scallop and another half scallop. Then I would skip the same. And so on. Below is how it turned out. It's not equal all around. But it really doesn't matter. It still  has that Oriental feel to it (think of the roofs of their buildings).

2) For my matte I punched my half flowers first. Then I cut two slits on either end of the two middle flowers. I slid the deckled rectangle nestie up into those slots leaving the flowers outside so the nestie would not cut through.
