Sweet Potato Soup

Hello Everyone:
I just found this recipe in the circular that comes from the local nursery "Shades of Green". And I wanted to share, it sounds soooo yummy!

Sweet Potato Soup
3 sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
2 cups chicken broth
1 chopped onion
1/8 teaspoon each; nutmeg, cumin, chili powder
1/2 fresh jalapeno pepper finely chopped
salt to taste
1 1/2 cups light cream, half and half or milk
1 heaping tablespoon peanut butter
sour cream and cilantro for garnish

Preparation:
1. To speed things up microwave the potatoes first.
2. Boil sweet potatoes & onion in the chicken broth until potatoes are tender.
3. Puree in blender or food processor.
4. Add spices, dairy product and peanut butter.

Serve hot garnished with dollup of sour cream and a fresh spring of cilantro.
(NOTE: When used as a meal can be served in a bowl made of bread with a small fruit or vegetable on the side.)

I'm getting in the mood for fall! Hey don't forget to Fall Back (with your clocks) tonight!!!!

MTSC44 - Happy Chanukah

Hello Again Friendz!
I watched some tv this afternoon. Caught up on some shows I had tivo'd and just vegged out. Then I came on line and popped over to Cindy Haffner's blog. Cindy is a wonderful source of inspiration. I saw her card for Mercy's sketch and I just wanted to play along. I made this card for a friend who is Jewish. She's asked me to make a set of Chanukah cards for her for the holidays this year. I am not finding very many resources for Jewish ink stamps. If you know of any, I'd sure appreciate a "hollah" from you! Now on to my card. TFL!

GHOULS ---- 30 Done, Done & Done!!!

Hellooooooo Friendzzzzz!
Some of you, those that follow my blog, may remember a few weeks ago I posted a little Jack-O-Lantern treat box. At the time I mentioned I was going to attempt to create 25 - 30 of these ghoulish treat boxes. Well, I DID IT! I actually managed to create 30! From bats to mummies to witches to ghosts, to Frankenstein's monsters and yes jack o lanterns too, I've got them all done. Now I am waiting for the goodies to arrive so I can fill them and then arrange with my daughter, Holli to pick them up. TFL

Rest In Peace - Nuncy Joseph Schaub

Nuncy Joseph Schaub July 27, 1952 - October 1, 2009.
Nuncy was my brother in law. My husband Mike's oldest brother. Nuncy had many health issues, still, his death was unexpected and a shock for all of us.
Nuncy was a funny, fun man. He was always laughing and joking with everyone. He never encountered anyone he didn't make laugh or smile. He loved all of his family and numerous friends. He enjoyed music, mostly the James Gang, Fog Hat and the like. He is survived by his wife Janice Lassierre Schaub, his daughter Kara Rose Schaub, 3 brothers; Michael Christopher Schaub, Paul Joseph Schaub, Mark Jacob Schaub, 2 sisters; Louise Schaub Mier & Sharon Schaub Templet, 5 nieces, 5 nephews, 1 great nephew and 1 one great niece, 3 brothers in law and 2 sisters in law. May he rest in Peace.

Inside: When Jesus is my portion, a constant friend is He, His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches over me.

Betty's Black Forest Trifle

Hello Friendz!
With fall creeping up on us I just wanted to share a new recipe I dreamed up by spinning off a Kraft Foods recipe. The original recipe called for Sara Lee's pound cake and fresh strawberries. Well, I tweeked it a little and came up with this "TO DIE FOR" recipe! And believe me it's HEAVENLY!

Betty’s Black Forrest Trifle

2 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA, 1/3 Less Fat than Cream Cheese, softened

1-1/2 cups cold milk

1 pkg. (5.1 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding

2 cups thawed COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping, divided

1 can cherry pie filling

2 boxes Betty Crocker Walnut Brownie mix

Make brownies according to package direction. When cool using a plastic knife in a sawing motion, cut brownies into cubes.

BEAT cream cheese with mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in milk. Add dry pudding mix; mix well. BLEND in 1-1/2 cups COOL WHIP. Spoon half into 2-1/2-qt. clear bowl (it's not only yumm-o it's beautiful to look at in a clear bowl). TOP with layers of brownie cubes, cherry pie filling and remaining cream cheese mixture. I added a dolup of cherry pie filling on top. Refrigerate 4 hours
Wish I had the fore though to take a pic. Sorry... but I bet your drooling anyhoo.

MOJO MONDAY & The Greeting Farm Black & White Sketch Challenge - Love is...

Howdy!
Well, I thought my MOJO had left the building until I went and got inspired by sweet, talented Cindy Haffner. She created the cutest little fireman card for The Greeting Farm black & white challenge sketch. I just knew I had to try that. I love black and white cards! So I used Julee's MOJO Monday sketch and combined it with The Greeting Farm sketch and voila! This is a stamped image I received in a swap from my dear friend Trish Davey. Also the pieces of cardstock which make up my background were Cuttlebug-ed by Trish as well. I used Spica in black to color the little raised birds. My dress is colored in with my clear glitter gel pen. I didn't have any black ribbon so I used my black Copic marker and dragged it over the white satin ribbon. The sentiment says: That Love is all there is, is all we know of Love. Emily Dickenson

Chesteen Book

Helloooo!
The other day I was prowling blogs again and I happened to come across THIS article and THIS image on Taylor VanBruggen's blog Taylored Expressions. Since hub's cousin is getting married in April I thought I'd give this a whirl. Below is my "Chesteen" book. Okay, Taylor, how'd I do???

Ingredients: 7 Gypsies (book), Cricut (Sampler Cartridge), Petaloo (Flora Doodles), various pp, stickers, ribbons, Basic Grey (fibers), Me & My Big Ideas (Alpha Stickers)
We aren't going to make the wedding. The couple is getting married on a cruise ship and then departing on a 7 day cruise. So I will deliver my gift to the bride later this month and she will have it for her shower in March. Best Wishes & Congratulations Ashley & Jeremy!!!
BTW, Ashley told me her favorite colors are PINKS & PURPLES!
