Deepest Sympathies

Today's card is a sympathy card. It's always a hard card to make, but most especially when it it for a friend whose child has passed. No matter what age they are when a child passes it is hardest to imagine. Recently a high school classmate's daughter passed away. She was only 19. A  brilliant, beautiful girl, taken too soon. My heart and prayers go out to my classmate and his family.

Below is my card.
  Outside front

                Inside partially opened.

                                          Inside completely open.

All of the stamps used on this card are from Close to my Heart #D1199 Come unto Me

My card takes a full 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of black cardstock cut in half at 5.50, and one piece cut at 5.50 x 3 inches. Score & fold one half piece of carsstock at 4.25 inches and set it aside. Then score and fold the other half at 2 inches, 5 inches and 7 inches. Mountain/Valley fold this piece of cs. Score and fold the 5.50 x 3 inch piece in half at 1.50 inches.

Assembly is pretty simple at this point. Take the 5.50 x 3 inch piece of cs and adhere 1.50 inch flap to the back of the base card (5.50 inches x 8.50 inches) leaving the other flap free. Adhere that free flap to the other 5.50 x 4.25 piece of carstock, joining them as one long base of 22 inches x 5.50 inches. Now you can stamp and decorate as you wish.

CTD376

My entry for the Color Throw Down Challenge #376. The colors are pale pink, pale blue and tan. My butterflies are from Inkadinkadoo. I colored with color pencils and added a bit of Wink of Stella to them for some sparkle. I used Spellbinders Shapeabilities Ornate Squares. I daubed the Close To My Heart - blush and sky on to my die cut. Then using a color pencil I scribbled hash marks on the center. I used a Martha Stewart border punch on a piece of dsp from Glitz paper pack called Love you madly. It's all mounted on dimensional adhesives onto Stampin' Up! Pink Pirouette cs. The little Pastel Flowers are from The Paper Studio.

FMS190

Today's card is entered in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #190

For my card I chose Barn Door Red Distress Spray Stain from Tim Holtz. I stamped the cake from There She Goes - Make A Wish set in Staz-On Black. Then using a fine tip paint brush and a little bleach I was able to bleach out some of the red to make it pink. The sentiment is from Close to My Heart - D1375 Treasures set.
I used SU! Spring Flowers EF. A little washi, a little twine, a hat pin with added beads and Voila!

If you'd like to play along in this challenge you can reach Freshly Made Sketch #190 HERE.

CCC44

Christmas Card Challenge #44 - Anything Goes!!!
I used real red cs with a piece of multi-red striped vellum. I ran the vellum through my Cuttlebug with a candy embossing folder. I added a piece of a doily. I borrowed the stamp from my friend Deb, but I think it is from Close to My Heart. I stamped the trees onto white cs with Fern Green Archival ink. I added Ranger Pearl Paint ruby red to decorate the trees. Real Red grosgrain ribbon and a Stampin' Up! embllishment and this one was done.

Paper Players 165

This week The Paper Players Challenge is Tic Tac Toe.
If you scroll down some you will see the tic tac toe board. For my card I chose right across the middle --
Patterned Paper, Embossing & Any Shade of Blue. I also through in some pearls from the middle bottom.

The patterned papers are from Stampin' Up! The blue cs is from Close to My Heart.

Below you can see the pearls a little better.

My stamps are from Chocolate Baroque. Love their stamps!!!
The scene stamp was stamped in Versa Mark onto the blue cs and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Same thing for the sentiment. Yes I am in full swing on Christmas card making. I am so excited for cooler weather.
I have a Christmas/Winter card swap going on my FaceBook so if you'd like to join in the swap just (e-mail me) and I'll add you to the swap.

TPP159

Today I am playing along with  The Paper Players challenge #159. Below is my card for the challenge. I chose the "Black Magic" technique for my card. The more I try this technique the more I fall in love with it. It's basically stamping your image in WHITE ink onto BLACK cs. Then when the ink dries you use your color pencils to color the image. Then you come back with a white Signo Gel pen and highlight. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeazy!

For my card I chose Close to My Heart's Treasures stamp set. I used the largest dandelion flower and the straight stem along side of the sentiment stamp in the collection. The butterfly is from Stampin' Up! Best of Butterflies which is one of their anniversary stamp sets. I colored with my PrismaColor Pencils. I invested in their 132 ct pencil set and I just adore coloring with them. They work perfectly for this technique.
Go ahead and give the "Black Magic" a try. I know you will love it as much as I.

Here's the challenge at The Paper Players this week.

My Sunshine - SSCCCCA22

You are my sunshine - Stampin' Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge Act#22. The colors for this week's Curtain Call are: Real Red, Pink Passion, YoYo Yellow, Basic Black and Whisper White. My cardstocks are all SU - pink passion, basic black and whisper white. I stamped my dandelion in black, red, pink and yellow. Then I came back with pale pink, red and yellow and added 3 more blossoms. These stamps are all from the same set at Close To My Heart. The shape of the white and black was hand cut. I just wanted to see something different than my regular squares, circles, ovals and rectangles. So there you have it! I also pierced the black in the upper left hand corner.

Make a Wish.... SSCCCCA20

Make a Wish....... Stampin' Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge Act #20. Stacey's colors this week are Real Red, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Whisper White. I often have a hard time with Stacey's challenges because I am a embellie hog! I love to just load embellies on and Stacey's cards always seem so stream line. Elegant, but streamline. I think Stacey is a true believer of 'less is more'. Wish I could follow her lead. But try as I might, I always seem to go to the other side... Thus, in my attempt to stay plain a simple I did NOT over embellish, however my card does have a lot of pattern to it. I have three dahlias from Fred, She Said. The loopy ribbon effect is from Bazzill's Just the Edges. The pattern paper is from DCWV The Crafty Stack. The image is from Sassy Studio Designs Stamps and she is colored with Copics. The sentiment is a stamp from Close to my Heart's D1375 Treasures set. The red cardstock is Coredinations.
