Fun Day Creating with... Denise Sullivan - Stampin' Up!

Saturday was such a F U N day! My gal pal Deb Segler picked me up at 9 a.m. and we hit the road to Frisco. We located Denise Sullivan's home and made a  B-Line for the front door. Once we were inside there was such an awesome array of lovelies to look at from Denise's home's beautiful decor to the displays of cards and charms she's made in previous classes. Oh, my eyes adored them!!! She wasted no time in getting us started. We opened up our "Bring on the Cake" 13 stamp set (W 121899, C 121958).  It was part of the price of the class. We also had supplies from the Ice Cream Parlor dp and quick accents pack (122242). We chatted, we stamped, we played. We got door prizes!!! There was the aroma of fresh brewed coffee and snacks wafting from the kitchen too! I tried the dates wrapped in bacon (OMW!) those were delish!
The first project Denise talked us through was the Stampin' Sound Card (121009) Recordable. We used the dp and our stamps and markers as well as some pompom fringe and the stickers from the quick accents.
Our second project was the gift card holder. This is just too cute! more stamps, markers, dp, stickers and cardstock as well as an added touch of ribbon and a button.
Our third and last project was the manilla folder jumbo card! That's right, this is a single manilla folder! It's folded in severl places to make pockets for you to add cardstock with your own personal messages. We used our stamps, stickers, markers, dp, and ribbon. This one was soo much fun!
Here's a view of the inside of my folder with pockets and inserts.
Deb and I left. As she drove me home, all the way we chatted about how much fun we had in the class and how sweet Denise was and we planned our next get together!

Hope you enjoyed looking over these projects. I hope to be bringing some peeps into my home soon to teach them how to create some fun projects myself!

happy birthday - TSTC047

happy birthday - Twisted Sketches Twisted Cards #047 - distress it! I cut my piece of Stampin' Up! designer fabric in a rectangle then I frayed the edges. I stamped the heart and then I used my Stampin' Up! paper distressing tool and roughed up with edges. I added the corduroy ribbon and some button, twine and rhinestones.

Just a Note - weeM44

Just a Note - wee Memories Challenge #44 - Source of Inspiration. Well, I totally love my Paper Crafts Magazine and I often draw my inspiration from what I see or read about in it. Today is no exception! I saw the card on the right with the blue ribbon (March/April 2011 issue pg. 46 Ever After card) on it and simply fell in love. But as we often do, I changed it up a bit. I used Kraft cardstock and I stamped a flourish design from Wings of Friendship on it in white. However the white wasn't bright enough to show. So I turned the Kraft cardstock over and stamped with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder (should have used white, but I am currently out of white). Then I used a brown with white polka dot ribbon to make my bow. I stamped the 'just a note' sentiment in Early Espresso on Confetti White cardstock. Then I stamped on top of the sentiment in Crumb Cake using the flourished heart from Always Elegant set. The little antique brass frame was in my stash. I can't remember where it came from as I've had several of these for years!  When I try this again, I will used some white embossing powder and a different color ribbon.

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS CHALLENGE #101

Hello and Welcome!
This week's challenge is to use your dies in your bug. But I want to see you using them in tandem. You see I cut the dark purple and the white with purple and the purple print papers all with the Top Note die. Then I went back with a tag die and cut the purple print piece. Your card does not have to look anything like mine, but I want to see at least 2 dies used in tandem to create your project. Also, I'd like you to use purple somewhere on your project.
Remember to have fun, no stress!!!
Tag your photos : pcpcuttlebug, pcpcuttlebug101

JFF - Felt like creating something....

Used my Big Shot and some Tim Holtz dies and stamps from Aviary & Perfect Punches with Marina Mist, Whisper White and Bashful Blue cardstock. Images were stamped in Early Espresso and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The tag itself was from my friend Deb Segler. Ribbons are from my hoarded stash.

I really haven't felt like doing much of anything since my 8 days in the hospital. I feel like my get up and go done got up and went. I see doctors on Friday, Feb. 18. Hopefully they will take the pic line out and I can get off of these drugs. Then MAYBE I'll start to feel like my old self again and get back to the challenges and creating that I so love and miss.

Have a terrific day!

Day 4 Home - CSBZN

Day 4 Home - Yesterday was a pretty good day. I got up about 8:15 a.m. and Mike changed my bandages. It went smoothly. Then Sue came by with Jaxston Cooper and we visited until it was time for her to go pick Isabella Ryan up at pre-k. I took a little nap after they left. Then I ate a small lunch. I watched some TV.
By the time Mike got home, I had managed to throw together a lasagna (no big whoop here: pre cooked noodles and Ragu from a jar. All I really had to do was cook the ground beef and I threw in some sliced pepperoni from the deli section of the supermarket. When the meat was cooked I layered with shredded cheese from the dairy section of the supermarket and threw it all in the a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes covered. Then another 10 minutes uncovered. When Mike got here, he served us each up a dish and we watched a movie.
Now to my cards. These cards were so easy! Created for my card sketch group for the March Sketch Swap at CardSketchesByZacksNana.
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Embrace Life (branches & flowers), Wings of Friendship (sentiment), Artistic Etchings (Eiffel Tower)
Ribbon - 1" Black Grosgrain with White stitching
Cardstock - Stampin' Up! Blushing Bride, Regal Rose
Ink - Stampin' Up! Early Espresso, Pixie Pink

Day2 - Home

There's snow on the ground and it's chilly! But it is good to wake up another day after a good night's sleep in my own bed. Mike is working from home today. The roads are too treacherous for him to drive. I was grateful for that as my sis went home yesterday afternoon.

I am hoping to get started on the 40 invites to my great nephew Jackson's baby shower. I need to get rolling on this as the shower is March 19. I am creating the cards, sis is mailing them out and the mother of the little mother will be collecting the RSVPs.

So I am going to go rest my back a little while then I'm going to come back and try to get this started.

Thanks for hanging with me through my illness and for your sweet comments.

Day 1 - I AM HOME!!!!

Hellooo!
I am back at home finally. Had a great night sleep in my own bed. I still have a "pic line" in my arm and someone is supposed to come by today to show me how to use it for my intravenous antibiotics. There will also be someone coming on Tues. & Thurs. to draw blood to keep a check on my White Blood Count (WBC). It finally got down to 11.9 (normal is 11) on Monday so they told me I could come home.

My sis made it to town to sit and wait with me for a few hours until my actual release at about 7:15 p.m. We watched the bachelor and Castle (sis' picks). Then we all went to bed. I slept on my SIDES!!! This is a first since my surgery on the 6th of Jan. So it was a great accomplishment. I mist say, the stay in the hospital was VERY productive in the healing of my surgerical wounds. It is about 80% closed.

I feel terrific today. Was a slow start, as I move in sloe motion. But once I am up and the joints are lubricated I am good. So I am off to fix and eat some breakfast with my sister. So yawl hang in there. I'll be back to posting in the coming days.

Thank You ALL for the prayers and the kind words. They are all greatly appreciated.

Day 7 - Hospital Stay

Ok, now I've bout had enough of this place! Don't get me wrong. Everyone is wonderful, but I miss my home time with hubs and I miss Seamus and I miss just doing flat out whatever I feel good enough to do. It's confining here with no crafting. No play time at all. I sleep, eat, drink and pee. That's about the extent of it all.

Not to mention, I missed the beautiful SNOW that sent Dallas into a stand still. It was beautiul out my hospital window but I sure love to watch Seamus, The Big Lug play and jump in the snow. He loves it!

Ok, time for a shower and maybe a nap. If your still coming and checking in, Thank You for your loyalty. It's greatly appreciated.

Love,

Day 6 - Hospital Stay

Woke up feeling great! Thought I might be going home. Then doc. came in and said my WBC is still elevated and basically they will not release me until it is back to normal at 11, mine is 13.6. He says if it's normal on Sunday I should be good to go. Walked the halls and made it down to ICU waiting area. Sat there for about 20 minutes just looking at the snow that I missed all week. I do have of view of I-75 out my room window. Traffic moved at a snail's pace for a really long time. BUT , both day and night the snow was lovely to look at.

Anyhoo, at 4:45 p.m. I had chills again. Then by 5 I was so hot and tired I cut my walk down the hall in half and made a b-line to the chair in my room. I've been here ever since and it is now 6:10 p.m. Please keep me in prayers. New development this evening, muscle spasms in my back. Trying to get my doc. to prescribe a muscle relaxer for me.

Yawl take care too. I am so missing my creative time. But as many of you may know a hospital room (esp. ICU) is not condusive to crafting.

Much Love and Thanks for Yor prayers,
