Hello And Welcome PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS!

I've been racking my brain to try to bring some new challenges to the table. So Thursday night and Friday, I stayed over at my friend, Deb's house. We played all night and all day!!!
So I was telling her I needed some new ideas and she asked me if I'd ever marbled. I told her I had done some marbling in the past ( way back). However, the more she talked, the more I realized we weren't speaking of the same technique. So that brings us to Challenge #136 - Marbling the Deb Segler way.

She said to use a marble and an old ice tray. Since I didn't have either I used an old acrylic brad package and a round bead. So either way, here's how you go:
1. In the container (ice tray or whatever) drops several drops of re - inker. I used Calypso Coral, Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Lucky Limeade.
2. Drop in your marble or bead.
3. Roll the marble or bead around in the ink.
4. Cut 1 piece of white cardstock 4" x 5.25".
5. Place the cardstock in a clean used meat tray or I used one half of my stamp cleaner witht he rough stuff taken out.
6. Drop the marble or bead onto the cardstock and keep moving the tray around rolling the marble/bead on the cardstock.
7. Keep up with process until you have the color as saturated as you like.
8. Clean the marble/bead.
9. If using an ice tray drop another color into another section of the tray.
10. Drop in the marble/bead and repeat steps 6 - 9. My suggestion is not to use more than 4 colors as it will muddy up the colors.

Now when I had completed the marbling process, my cardstock was still a little too white. So I spritzed it with a little bit of clear water. I gently blew on a little puddle and moved it around until I liked what I saw. Then I used my heat tool to dry and set the ink.

Now this is your background paper/cardstock. I put my peice through my "bug" with an embossing folder, matted it on a coordinating paper, added some embellies and ribbon. Voila!

If you find this technique too labor intense just get some dsp and emboss it and upload your photo. But if you try this technique, I'd LOVE to see your creations!

Twitterpated - this card was created for the CardPatterns Challenge #149. What a F-U-N sketch!
For my card I used NEW Framelits - LABELS Collection dies from  the largest to the mid sized die. I stamped my flowers with Mixed Bunch and cut them with the coordinating Punch Blossom Punch. The flowers were all stamped in Cherry Cobbler. The sentiment is from Whimsical Words set. The cardstock is Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzaz. Both layers of the dsp are from Stampin' Up! Twitterpated collection (LOVE IT!). The Baja Breeze Pleated Ribbons is NEW from Stampin' Up! and the Rose Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is also a SU product. The HAT PINs are new to SU as well. I added the beads myself.

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS #125

Hey,
I know I forgot to post a challenge last week. But I was pooped when I returned from my friend's retreat. So I slept a lot and wasn't too crafty once I got home. If you'd like to see how busy I was while I was at retreat you can follow this link (HERE).

On to the challenge this week. Well, who says these challenges have to be cards???

This week your challenge is to make it 3-D. Below is a picture of just a few of the 3-D projects I demo-ed at retreat. I hope these will inspire you to get crafty!


No, your project does not have to be Christmas themed. At least it's not a requirement for the challenge. But if Christmas makes you happy, go right ahead. :O)
All of my projects were created using Stampin' Up! products. The cones were all created using the Petal Cone die (current) and the Oh Christmas Tree PopUp (retired).

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS #124 - 3 SHADES OF YELLOW, plus a little embossing and a little die cutting. My flower is a SU punch but the leaves are die cut and it's a little difficult to see but the pale yellow right behind the flower pot is embossed with the SU Stripes ef. All stamps, ribbon, twine and cs are Stampin' Up! products.

Hello Again! This is my PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS Challenge #123 this week. Make a wedding card using ONLY WHITE! The other rules that apply are to heat emboss and to dry emboss and use dies or punches.
I wish I could take credit for this design but once again I spotted this on my friend Monika Reeck's blog and I fell in love! Well who wouldn't!? :O)

Holiday Emboss -- PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS #121

Hello!
I am back from my birthday retreat with Deb Segler @ Priceless Memories Scrapbooking Retreat (page takes a little while to load but stick around there and enjoy her website) in Wylie, TX. Special Thanks to my dear girlfriend, Deb for this wonderful gift. It's one birthday party I'll remember for years to come. :O)
Now to my card. I moderate the PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS on PaperCraftPlanet which simply means I post the challenges for the ladies who want to play along. This week we are embossing both with embossing folders and with powder and heat. I hope you'll join in the fun over there with us at PCP. PCPCUTTLEBUG-ers#120

This is my challenge for the group on PaperCraftPlanet Cuttlebugers this week - emboss with heat and an embossing folder and they must use the color palette -- pink, black, green and white. When I started out with the Friends Never Fade SU stamp set I had no idea it would turn out this lovely.
I used Versa Mark and my Wild Wasabi and Melon Mambo embossing powders to create the focal image on basic black cs and heat embossed. Then on a piece of Melon Mambo cs I used Versa Mark and the same stamp set and randomly stamped the same images then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I ran the Melon Mambo cs through my machine with the Herringbone ef.  I cut the corners with my 1/2" circle punch. Then I cut a piece of Lucky Limeade cs 4" x 5 1/4" and daubed Old Olive ink around the edges for some distressing. Added some Rose Red 1" stictched grosgrain ribbon and an Antique Brad. The sentiment is not SU but it reads: Each new day brings a new way to praise the Lord.

2011 Christmas Card Challenge Week #29

Be merry -- My card uses fabric as my flower. I used several dies to create my card. The flower utilizes the Bigz L Fun Flowers die and the Large Daisies die. I cut multiples of each and just kept layering until I got the size, shape and look I wanted. I added a corduroy covered brad. I cut a piece of cardstock using the Top Note die and then I used chalks to add some red and yellow to the raised areas. I iced the edges of my tag and spritzed with Champagne Mist. Tied some twine onto my tag and wrapped it arounf the top note cs. Christmas Card Challenge (FABRIC).

This card is also my challenge card for the PCP Cuttlebug-ers this week.

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS #116

This week for the PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS Challenge #116 we are making what I call a marquee card. You can see my sample above. This card was created and embellished with cs, dsp, punches, dies and bling from Stampin' Up! I embossed some vellum for the panels on either side of the marquee.

Deets for scoring, folding and cutting the cardstock:
Cut cardstock 11"x 5 1/2"
Score and fold at 1", 5 1/2", and 10"
From the 1" score line on left cut from 1" and 4 1/2" down to the 5 1/2" line.
Score and fold only the 1" side panels at 2"
Score and fold marquee (center) at 4 1/2" which would be 1" down from the 5 1/2" fold line.
From the other end of your cardstock score and fold at 10" this will make the kick stand for the back of your card.  Refer to the pictures above if you get confused. Or you can e-mail me.
When the scores, folds and cuts are all complete you have 2 options; you can either leave the card as is or you can decorate the inside of your card.

PCP Cuttlebug-ers #112

Hello Again!
Although I post a new challenge every weekend on PaperCraftPlanet Cuttlebug-ers Group, I sometimes forget to post those challenges here on my own blog. Let's face it, I lead a pretty hectic life. But I try and some days that's all I can do. Know what I mean?
So today for Challenge #112 we are using dies, border punches and stickers. I used 2 dies, 2 border punch and 3 stickers. You can use as many of each as you choose but you must have at least 1 of each on your project. Please use tags: pcpcuttlebug, pcpcuttlebug112

Happy Birthday For You! - PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS Challenge #108

Ok, I've been taking it easy on you all so this time I challenge you to create some sort of a pocket card with something that can be put in or taken out of the pocket (a sentiment, a flower, a gift card, etc). I have a friend named Holly that lives in Arkansas. Holly created a video tutorial of a pocket card she made. I followed her tutorial and tweeked it a bit. You can use Holly's and my pocket or you can create one of your own.


I used my 'bug' to cut the big flower on the right face of my card. The smaller flowers I punched. I used a variety of Stampin' Up! dsp from the Play Date collection. I stamped my For You sentiment with Real Red ink (stamp is from the SAB set Punch Bunch). I used my Stampin' Write Markers in Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pacific Point to ink up the Happy Birthday stamp from the same set. My finished card is 4.25" x 5.5". The dotted layer is 4" x 5.25". The striped layer is 3.75" x 5". The pocket started out at 3.75" x 5" and was folded on the diagonal from the center point of the left side to the right top and bottom corners.

Pretty in Pink - I think!! CPS108 & PCPCuttlebug-ers #106

Pretty in Pink - You think???
This card was created using some discontinued dsp from Stampin' Up! Why oh why did they discontinue this??? It's gorgeous paper! The challenge at CardPatternsSketch #108 was to use a really beautiful sketch. I love the simply of this sketch and I think it works really well with a semi monochromatic color palette. The stamps are from set #120453 and it's called Just Believe.

The PCPCuttlebug-ers Challenge #106 this week is to use pink and to use your bug to create a card or other art project.

you should be fawn-d over - weeM46 & CPS105

it's your birthday, you should be fawn-d over. My card was created using the sketch at CardPatterns and the challenge at weeMomeries was a theme -- Woodland Friends. I used this sweet little fawn from Technique Tuesday. I stamped it with Stampin' Up! Early Espresso ink and then colored with markers. The flower branch is from Stampin' Up! set Embrace Life. I colored the flowers again with markers.All dp is from Stampin' Up! Springtime Vintage paper pack.
 I also used this card a a sample for my CUTTLEBUG-ERS GROUP at PCP.

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS CHALLENGE #101

Hello and Welcome!
This week's challenge is to use your dies in your bug. But I want to see you using them in tandem. You see I cut the dark purple and the white with purple and the purple print papers all with the Top Note die. Then I went back with a tag die and cut the purple print piece. Your card does not have to look anything like mine, but I want to see at least 2 dies used in tandem to create your project. Also, I'd like you to use purple somewhere on your project.

Winter in Blue - PaperCraftStar#30 Scraplifting Jan Del Bone

Winter in Blue was created for PaperCraftChallenges#30 challenge to scraplift one of the DT member's creations. I chose this card by Jan Del Bone. I liked Jan's monochrome simple card, she used kraft, I used Pacific Point. I stamped Lovely as a Tree with Whisper White ink then I heat embossed with some Bridal embossing powder which has a little iridescence in it. This card also works for my PaperCraftPlanet Cuttlebug-ers #100 challenge.
