2018

Hello There!

Well it's 2018 and today I post my first card creation in this new year.
Below is a card I made for my Uncle Dud. You see, I am from south Louisiana originally and my dad's cousin Gladys whom everyone called T-Boone. I called her my Aunt T-Bone Steak! She loved that. Aunt T-Bone Steak and Uncle Dud (Dudley) Meaux lived in a small town in Louisiana - Abbeville. I used to love going to their house for visits. I can still conjure up in my mind the aromas coming from Aunt Gladys' kitchen. I miss her. She passed a couple years ago. Now Uncle Dud is a widower. But let me tell you something, he's going to be 90+ at the end of January and his mind is sharp as a tack. He touts the miracle remedies of dietary supplements like CoQ-10 and Selenium. Hey! Who and I to judge? He's in his 90s and still going strong!!! God love him.

Voila! Uncle Dud's birthday card.

For Uncle Dud's card I used the NEW Barn Door Bundle from Stampin' Up! This bundle is item #145990 (CLEAR) or #145989 (WOOD MOUNT) can be found on page 43 of the 2018 Occasions Catalog.

Hunkydory

Card I created using Hunkydory Crafts. This card was created using Enchanted Dreams Decoupage Dreams porducts. The colors are simply gorgeous and they add touches of gold here and there for accessories. Lots of bits and pieces to mix into the design. Sentiments are included. Honestly the only thing I added was a couple of my own dies and a couple scrap pieces of SU! cardstock for mattes and dimensionals. These cards can be 3D too! Below is the front of my card.

Below is the inside of my card. I was even able to elevate elements on the inside of my card!
Sorry I can't make this image any bigger or it will not fit on my blog page. Let's just say, this card measures a generous 5 13/16" x 8 1/4" in size.

There's even enough embellishments to add some glam to the back of your cards!!!

FMS190

Today's card is entered in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #190

For my card I chose Barn Door Red Distress Spray Stain from Tim Holtz. I stamped the cake from There She Goes - Make A Wish set in Staz-On Black. Then using a fine tip paint brush and a little bleach I was able to bleach out some of the red to make it pink. The sentiment is from Close to My Heart - D1375 Treasures set.
I used SU! Spring Flowers EF. A little washi, a little twine, a hat pin with added beads and Voila!

If you'd like to play along in this challenge you can reach Freshly Made Sketch #190 HERE.

MonikasBirthdayChallenge

My sweet friend Monika is celebrating a birthday this month! She wants to celebrate with a challenge. So her challenge is to CASE one of her cards. For my CASE card I chose the card below.

This was a fun challenge for me as I don't create a lot of masculine cards. Which happens to be Monika's favorite card to make.
I hope she likes my attempt at CASE-ing her card. If you'd like to help Monika celebrate her birthday month, hop on over to her blog and play along. Just click HERE to follow the link.

CMC48 Flowers

Hello Again!
Here's a lovely card I made. I started this card at midnight and here it is 1:41 a.m. But my dear friend Monica Reeck invited me to play along with the challenge at Card Maniac this week because she is a guest designer. So Monika, this one's for you!

The theme for the challenge is FLOWERS! So I colored with Copics on this lovely Lily Elf from AuroraWings.com. Mitzi has some really beautiful images and they are digitals you can purchase and color ASAP! I love that. I'm sort of an instant gratification gal.

Any hoo, I sure hope you like my flower entry.

Happy Birthday

Just realized how long it had been since I posted anything on my blog. Sorry followers. I have been busy with prep for Christmas.

I have an aunt on hub's side that has a birthday on December 30 which happens to be my and hub's 36 anniversary. In all the cards I have in my collection I didn't see anything that I liked well enough to send to Dear Aunt Selma. So I whipped this one up. I added some Ranger liquid pearls to the rose patterned paper. I cut 3 pieces of the double sided cs in 2 inch squares then added a little glue runner and  piece of twine for the wick, rolled them into candles. Tied them together in a bundle with more twine and voila, birthday candles. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co's everything amazing set. I think the sentiment fits Aunt Selma to a T.

DD50

Dynamic Duos Challenge #50 - Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride.
For my card I used a Spellbinders Embossibilities folder. Inked up the inside with Calypso Coral. Then ran it through my Cuttlebug. The butterfly and sentiment are from Unity Stamps SOTW club - Real Happiness Shared. I added some Ranger pearls and some buttons from SU and Mossy Made.

Great color combo for those pastel lovers.

JFF Denim Woodgrain

It's a birthday card and although there are some stamped flowers on the denim woodgrain I think it works as a birthday card for a guy or a gal.

I first drug Adirondack Earthtones STONEWASHED ink pad over Craft cs. I used my heat gun and dried the ink. Then I drug Whisper White ink pad over the Stonewashed. Dried it with the heat gun. Then I inked up my WoodGrain EF with Crumb Cake and placed my cs inside and ran it through my Big Shot. Then I stamped SU Quin-Essential Flower randomly all over the cs. Added a piece of Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon. My stamped image is from SU Crazy for Cupcakes. I stamped the image in SU Soft Suede, then I colored with Copics. Voila!

MOJO281

MOJO MONDAY @ Verve #281 - I chose some very festive colors and dsp for my card today. Loved the colors in the dsp so I ran with them on my cupcakes and sentiment. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. I also spotted Libby Hickson's blog where she used a stick pin through the thread on her button so, Libbykins, I borrowed your idea.

Hope you all are warm, safe and having a very happy and color filled day!

CTD226

This is Color Throw Down Challenge #226 entry.

I had a hard time trying to figure out how to photograph this card. I tried it in a plate stand but I didn't like it. So I laid it flat and I still don't like it but it was a better shot than the other so, what you see is what you get. The photo, however, doesn't do the card justice. I find I feel that way a lot about my shots. I NEED a better lens, better light, or maybe just a better eye behind the camera. This card was stamped using Stampin' Up! God's Beauty. It's a retired set but it still has relevance in my opinion. I didn't use a sentiment because I haven't decided yet, what occassion I will use this card for. I think it would work for Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother Day, Sympathy, Anniversary or even a birthday. I used Stampin' Up! Labels Collection Framelits to cut the card base and the image.

Happy Birthday

Everything Eleanor - I really LOVE this Stampin' Up! stamp set. I've stayed in the purple/violet family using Rich Razzleberry, Condord Crush and Orchid Opulence. Orange and Yellow pearl paints from Ranger. For my sentiment; I stamped the background border in Concord Crush, then without re-inking I stamped it again. Then I used Concord Crush to stamp Happy Birthday. Added to pearls, then craft cut.

FMS60 MORE

I have 2 male birthdays coming up early in December and they are father and son. So I decided to use my Stampin' Up! sets : A Cardinal Christmas and Le Jardin Botanique for my image and Beautiful Birthday for my sentiment. I am sooo excited I got my Spellbinders dies to work perfectly together on the windows and my Copic Markers really brought the beauty out in these two beautiful birds!
As you can see the cards are similar but quite different. I used the Freshly Made Sketch #60 to layout my cards. I am not sure they will let me have 2 entries in the drawing this week but once these were made I just had to share them.

Visit Freshly Made and check out the challenge for yourselves.
Below is the sketch.

C4C & Freshly Made

Crazy 4 Challenges#149 - All White

These challenges always fascinate me. I love an all white card. I chose to play with my dies and cut some intricate patterns. My stamps are from Stampin' Up! Language of Friendship (both sentiment and the little bird). Check out the beautiful creations the DT has on display at

This card is entered in the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches #47. It's a nice sketch. I seem to have a hard time with their theme of "Fresh" though. I think I always overdo. I have to learn less is more. Anyhoo, here's my card and below it is the sketch.

SPT15

SoftPencil Tuesday Week #15. This week we are featuring some new digitals of Sunny. I chose Sunny on a Cupcake for my card. Sunny's so cute and very versatile as far as color goes. I chose to leave her white and just color in the pinks of her ears. The image was colored with SU! markers. I punched holes in my cupcake frosting and layered a piece of striped cardstock behind so my sprinkles would look colorful. The sentiment is from SU!

Won't you visit us at SoftPencil Studios this week to see some cute and fun creations and find out what Sunny is up to? Just "HOP" (pun intended) on over to SoftPencil Studios and get an eye full.

CR84FN51

CR84FN Challenge #51 color palette is Pink, Peach & Light Blue. Below is my card.

Here is a closeup of the sentiment.

I used products from Cupcards to Go kits and stamped the sentiment from SU Crazy for Cupcakes.
These days my favorite embellishments to add to my cards are stick pins (which my hubs shops for me when he visits antique shops looking for radios to restore) and twine!
I also used the sketch from CupCards To Go and  Jen's SFYTT.

Thanks for looking.

Inspirational Card Sketches

Inspirational Card Sketches Challenge #154 and the cloud pattern from Van Laar Designs played rather well together. Or at least I think so. LOL

I printed the cloud and then flipped it. Sponged some Pool Party ink around the edges. Printed and cut another cloud on dsp for my shadow effect. I punched a large scalloped circle out of dsp and stamped and drew lines on it to respresent my sun. The hot air balloon is a flower petal punched from Build a Blossom punch. I added some twine for the ropes and a tiny square for the basket. The sentiment reads, The sky's the limit. Inside sentiment is Happy Birthday, wishing you a wonderful day.
