Play Date with Deb 6-12

I recently had another play date with my gal pal Deb and below are the cards we made. The 1st one below is a stamp set from Art Impressions of an English Cottage - L3496. Deb used my stamps to stamp the scenes. Then we each colored them differently using the same color palette. This one is mine.

The card below was stamped using the Stampin' Up! Retired Hostess set Simply Sketched . I stamped in Ranger Archival Black then colored with Copic markers. Using framelits from Stampin' Up! cut the image and then a matte from dsp. Added from ribbon and glittery chipboard.

For the card below, Deb had some dsp and a die cut swirly corner. I stamps more swirls with versa mark and used some embossing powder in purple to match. Stamped the little dragonfly and popped him up with dimensionals. Added some rhinestones.

We always have great fun on our play dates. Looking forwatd to our next time together.

ColourQ205

COLOURQ #205 -

My stamps are Close to My Heart Classy Doily Flair (B1424), Stampin' Up! Papaya Collage (126612) and Pursuit of Happiness (121970).
I have to say this color combo did not appeal to me right away. In fact it wasn't until my card was complete that I decided I liked the color combo. Just sayin', don't poo poo something until you've given it your best shot. Think outside you the box - as everyone seems to be saying these days. I did and I liked it. So may you.

Lavinia7

Lavinia Challenge #7 -- Add a Flower
I chose one of the fairies watering her garden for my image. It's a digital image and I printed it onto glossy photo paper and colored with my Copics. I'm so pleased with the way she turned out. When I first looked at the image I didn't know what I was going to do. Then I started coloring the fairy and the rest just fell into place. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! and when my coloring was complete I added some Ranger pearl paints to it.

I have only just found Lavinia stamps. But I think I will be a "frequent flyer". Pun intended. If you'd like to play along with Lavinia's challenge you can find it on her blog HERE. If you'd like to purchase some of her lovely whimsical stamps you can do that HERE.

COLORQ204

Well, a funny thing happened. I made a card for the ColorQ Challenge #203. However, by the time I got my post all written up and ready to publish, #203 was closed. So, I immediately got to work on my card for ColorQ challenge #204 and I am posting it NOW! I don't want to delay and miss another deadline. Besides that I love my card so much I can not wait to SHARE IT! So here ya go.
I used stamps from Chocolate Baroque and the sentiment is from Stampin' Up! I colored the flowers with my Tombow Blender pen and my Stampin' Up! ink pads: Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Concord Crush and Lucky Limeade. All the flowers were stamped in distress ink color Black Soot. To each O in my sentiment I added a SU tiny pearl. Some Signo White gel pen here and there added some highlights.
Here's a closeup of a couple of the flowers. This set from Chocolate Baroque is #UA5SP0422 Fancy Flowers. There are 12 different flowers in the set! I only used 5 on my card.
I LOVE these stamps as there is so much detail and they are so easy to color whether you used you ink pads and blender pen or go straight marker to paper or even use your Copics these stamps WILL NOT disappoint!

Ok now back to the challenge at ColorQ 204, I used all of the colors in the challenge and they all seemlessly go well together. Those brilliant gals! If you love this color combo and think you can make it work then go on over to COLORQ and try your hand. Even if you are not sure about the colors, give it a try anyway. I think you'll like the outcome.

TPP159

Today I am playing along with  The Paper Players challenge #159. Below is my card for the challenge. I chose the "Black Magic" technique for my card. The more I try this technique the more I fall in love with it. It's basically stamping your image in WHITE ink onto BLACK cs. Then when the ink dries you use your color pencils to color the image. Then you come back with a white Signo Gel pen and highlight. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeazy!

For my card I chose Close to My Heart's Treasures stamp set. I used the largest dandelion flower and the straight stem along side of the sentiment stamp in the collection. The butterfly is from Stampin' Up! Best of Butterflies which is one of their anniversary stamp sets. I colored with my PrismaColor Pencils. I invested in their 132 ct pencil set and I just adore coloring with them. They work perfectly for this technique.
Go ahead and give the "Black Magic" a try. I know you will love it as much as I.

Here's the challenge at The Paper Players this week.

SNS117

A NEW challenge for me Sketch N Stash challenge #117. So the sketch is on their blog. It's a pretty sketch and fairly simple to work with. I used my brayer and Pool Party, Marina Mist and Gumball Green inks to brayer my Whisper White cs. Ranger Adirondak Pitch Black ink on my tree and to distress the edges of my image. I used my Lucky Limeade marker to dab some color to the tree's branches. The dsp is from Stampin' Up! as well as the little silver florettes. I am so pleased with the way this one turned out. Hope you like it too and will pop on over to SNS and play along with the challenge.

Just playing around with my Water Droplets stamp from Designs by Ryn and my shimmer mist from Stampin' Up! and Shimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.

1. Using Tim Holtz distress ink pads I inked up my acrylic block. Worn Lipstick, Broken China, Faded Jeans, and Dusty Concord.
2. Spritz various mists (very wet). Not enough, redo. SU! Marina Mist, TA Viva Pink
3. Stamp the droplets onto the dried cs with TH Black Soot distress ink.
4. Added highlights with White Signo Gel Pen.
5. Wooden turtle from Pink Paislee. Gesso then, Donna Salazar Designs Mix'd Media inks: Denim Jean and Peridot.
6. Sponge Denim Jean ink all around the perimeter.
7. Same inks as #5 on the fern.
8. SU! pearls and flowers.
9. Adhere stamped image, pearls, turtle, flowers and fern.

I have to admit, I've had this stamp for a while now. I just hadn't come across a background that I wanted to stamp it on. Alas, you go to the old drawing board and come up with your own. Voila!

All done!

Dynamic Duos #51 - daffodil delight and baja breeze. Also entering this one in the CASology challenge to use hexagons.

I really love my honey comb ef from Stampin' Up! I think it works on so many levels. Who says it has to be bees all the time? Not me! I went with some chipboard stickers from Pink Paislee and My Minds Eye. I incorporated my build a bird punch. Clean And Simple baby! That's what it's all about!

DD48

Today I felt well enough to play. So here's a little something for the Dynamic Duos Challenge using light blue and deep orange color combo. The stamps are an old set from Stampin' Up! The dsp is also Stampin' Up! Cardstock is American Crafts. The bling is Cloud 9. Die is from Spellbinders. I used the Top Note die to cut the main panel. The image was colored with Copics.

I have to say, at first I didn't think I was going to like this color combo. But in the end it "worked" for me!

PP134

The Paper Players Challenge #134.

I went out of the box on this one. I created my own background from a piece of scrap dsp.
I saw this technique on Pinterest. I found it HERE. Basically, what you need is a patterned paper and an embossing folder, some Versa Mark and some clear embossing powder, a dauber and some black re-inker.

Run your dsp through your Big Shot machine in the embossing folder. Then lightly drag your Versa Mark over the raised areas. Sprinkle with embossing powder, dust away any embossing powder that falls into the valleys. Then heat. Repeat this process about 3 or 4 times. Then with a dauber and some black ink daub the black ink into the valleys, until they are completely covered. Then take a paper towel and rub ink off any ink that may have gotten onto the raised areas. It's a resist process and I am now "in love" with it!

So anyhoo, this is my entry for this week's episode of The Paper Players Challenge.

Stamping Challenges7

Stamping Challenges #7 - really cute sketch and I just wanted to play with the color palette of black, white, yellow and green. To stamp I used Stampin' Up! Bliss and Creative Elements stamp sets. Inks were Basic Black and Pear Pizzaz with some Wild Wasabi. I added some Ranger Pearls.

Love the way this one turned out. I really liked the sketch too and will probably use it again in the future.

Butterfly Effect_Swallowtails

Today I want to introduce you to the Swallowtail Stamp from Stampin' Up! W129213

From the moment I saw this stamp in the catalog I knew I just had to have it!
So I am going to talk to you today about how I created each of the following butterflies. Please bare with me, I have a new camera and I am still trying to learn how to get the best shots.
The first image below is of two different colored butterflies.
The butterfly on the left was stamped in Basic Black and colored with my Stampin' Up! Markers in Island Indigo, Marina Mist and Pool Party. Then I went back and highlighted some of the details with a blue glitter gel pen. The butterfly on the right was stamped the same way but I used Pumpkin Pie and Summer Starfruit markers. hit the details with a gold glitter gel pen. There bodies were colored green and hit with a yellow green glitter gel pen.

The butterfly below was stamped in Archiver's Jet Black Ink on glossy white paper. I colored this one with Markers as well. I tried to use my blender pen but I let the ink sit too long on the glossy paper and I could not move it around the way I would have liked to. So I used Frost White Shimmer Paint with a wet paint brush and covered the entire butterfly.

This butterfly was stamped with Versa Mark ink. I have mixed together copper, Wild Wasabi and Silver ep. and heat embossed my butterfly. Then I used Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink on daubers and smooshed the ink around.

Finally for this butterfly I used the same ep mixture and heat embossed. Then I smooshed, Pretty In Pink, Pink Passion and Ballet Blue ink around.
I hope you gain some inspiration from my creations. I'd love to see what you do with the Swallowtail

Special Thanks to Sandy MacIver for inspiring me.
