Happy Birthday Kaley

Recently my cousin, Pat asked me to create a card for her granddaughter Kaley. Pat told me Kaley likes horses and the color green. She also stated that Kaley was turning 17. So, as I pondered what I would create for Kaley's 17th birthday card, the wheels began to turn. I knew I wanted to wow both Pat and Kaley. So I immediately decided to stamp a scene. So I pulled out my mountain scene stamp from Stampscapes and stamped onto glossy cardstock (photo paper) with Memento Black. Then I added some trees from Stampscapes and Stampin' Up! The Mare and colt from Stampabilities was stamped onto a separate piece of glossy cardstock then cut out. Using the Top Note Die from Stampin' Up! I created a window. I colored the images with my Stampin' Up! markers and a dauber. Added highlights with a white gel pen. The dotted Ranger Liquid Pearls to make the flowers. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! The flowers are Petaloo. The card is interactive in that when you pull and push the side tabs the mare and the colt come together and the mare kisses the colts head.

This card was great fun creating. A labor of love.

Today's card is entered in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #190. 

For my card I chose Barn Door Red Distress Spray Stain from Tim Holtz. I stamped the cake from There She Goes - Make A Wish set in Staz-On Black. Then using a fine tip paint brush and a little bleach I was able to bleach out some of the red to make it pink. The sentiment is from Close to My Heart - D1375 Treasures set. 

I used SU! Spring Flowers EF. A little washi, a little twine, a hat pin with added beads and Voila!

Happy Bird-day

Today's card was created with the Craft Your Passion challenge #251 in mind -- Anything Goes.

I recently purchased the chalk board cs from SU! and the 3 chalk ink pads that coordinate. I stamped the Tiered Birdcage from Stampendous! with the Yellow Citrus chalk ink. Then I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Added a jeweled flower from Jodie Lee Designs at Prima and a little banner from October Afternoon's Cakewalk Little Flyers. I matted the chalk board cs on a piece of craft cs then onto a piece of Coastal Cabana then onto my tangerine card base. With some white craft ink I smudged with a dauber just to give it that chalk smudged look. The sentiment is handwritten.

Green Monochromatic

Found this beauty created by Marion Vagg on Pinterest. So then I created this.

What a beautifully fun, creative and simple technique. 

Here's how I did it!

I Stamped the lovely Fancy Flower from Chocolate Baroque in Versa Mark. Heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then using Copic marker #G07 Nile Green I flicked in the areas where I thought it would be darker. Then I stamped the butterfly from SU! set Nature Walk and added the dark green. I matted my image on SU! Whisper White cs. Then I mounted a piece of the same lime green cs to a matte of SU! Whisper White and ran it through my Big Shot inside the Spring Flowers ef from SU! A little bit of ribbon and bling from Making Memories and all that's left is to stamp Happy Birthday inside and this one is D-O-N-E!

This week, Dynamic Duos is celebrating their 1 Year Anniversary! Congratulations ladies on your continued success. I enjoy playing Dynamic Duos because the color combos are always a challenge for me. However, I love Poppy Parade and Lucky Limeade! Green is my favorite color and I just think these two colors complement each other so well. My card was created using DCWV dsp and Stampin' Up! Stamps as well as Stampin' Up! ribbon, ink, die and punch.

SoftPencil Tuesday #9

ENJOY LIFE one cupcake at a time! That's the birthday wish Ratiny and his mom are sending your way on SoftPencil Tuesday this week. Ok, so you say today isn't your birthday. But couldn't the sentiment still ring true? I think so, and if in doubt we could always give it a try, right? Who doesn't love cupcakes???

Anyway this is all about the digital stamp. This is Ratiny and his mom. I printed the image on watercolor paper. I like it better for coloring as this way I can choose the medium I want to play with: ink pads, watercolors, or in this case gel pens. These are all glittery gel pens that a friend gave me and I simply love to color with them. I hope you'll hope over to SoftPencil's page and check out the beauties of the rest of the fabulous DT. This card was created using the ColorThrowDown #153 challenge - Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Pool Party and White. Looking at my card now, I realize I forgot to use white. Too late though, I am done and I am not changing a thing about it!

The crochet lace looks chocolate in the photo but it actually is olive colored. This is what happens when you try to photograph a card at night by the light of a lamp.

SOFTPENCIL TUESDAY - Charmy on a Cupcake

happy birthday - TSTC56 & CCT162

happy birthday - Twisted Sketches Twisted Card Challenge #56 - yellow. For my card I used Bashful Blue cardstock and a scrap from some decorative paper and a scrap piece of vellum. Since the challenge was to use the sketch and incorporate yellow I added 2 layers of So Saffron border punched, one on top of the other. Then I added a piece of So Saffron grosgrain ribbon and tied a bow. The stamp is from SU Perfect Punches (although I didn't perfectly punch mine). I added a little clear crystal I colored with SU marker in Pink Passion. I smudged a little SU Marina Mist ink around the edges of my scalloped sentiment.
Cute Card Thursday Challenge #162 is to use another sketch or create your own. I used the Twisted Card Sketch for this challenge. It's just a CAS style I wanted to play with it.

Everything Stampin' Up! but the dragonfly brad. This card was made using Silke's sketch from Crazy4Challenges #77. I just love the Ice Cream Parlor dps with the Happy Birthday Stamp from Afterthoughts Hostess set and the balloons from Crazy for Cupcakes set. I stamped them and then I used my Mahogany Vintage Ink Stop to add some shadows. The pink and yellow cs was embossed using the Petals A Plenty embossing folder.

New Sheriff in Town - CSCC95 - High Noon

Happy Birthday to the New Sheriff in Town! Today's Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge is the movie High Noon. The story of a sheriff who stands alone against a criminal who vows to kill him. Not the town, not even the beautiful Grace Kelly his love will stand up and support him. My card has a lighter theme. I think it's perfect for a young man who's coming of age, "the new sheriff in town" so to speak.

I used some red plaid dp to make my western style shirt and I used a piece of red cardstock to make the bandana in the pocket with my SU set Wanted stamps. The star is a piece of rhinestone studded jewelry. It may sound feminine but it looks great as a sheriff's badge. The button is an old Levi's button.

Happy Birthday, Human - CardSketchesByZacksNana Trish's Sunday Sketches#17 and Picture Perfect Creations - CraftyChallenges #26 - colors: Pacific Point, Poppy Parade, and Whisper White. The image is from SU. I colored with Copics and American Crafts markers. As you can see by Trish's sketch I tweaked it some. I added the geometrics on bottom right to fill the white blank spaces a little (my card is for my friend Sue's grandson Westin, so I kept it simple but cute). The silver stickers are from Colorbok.

happy birthday to you - Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge88 - Best In Show - challenge requirement this week, create an accordion paper medallion fold. I made mine a huge flower.
