Curtain Call May 1

Firstly, let me wish all the moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day!

Below is my card for the Curtain Call May 1 challenge.

My card was created using the Sweet Floral stamp from Stampin' Up! I stamped the image with Versa Mark and used Pan Pastels to smudge the colors. On top I place a die cut in shiny gold. I stamped the butterfly and colored it with my ColourArts Silks acrylic paints. Then went over it with my Wink of Stella. I love this clean and simple card!
If I'd have left the sentiment off, this would have been a perfect Mother's Day card!
Hope you have a blessed Mother's Day.

Pan Pastels and Versa Mark Ink

Using the Sweet Florals and Swallowtail stamps from Stampin' Up!

On the first project I used the Sweet Florals stamp. I stamped with Versa Mark on Whisper White cardstock. Then I used the Pan Pastels and the sponges and tools that came with them to dab and smudge colors onto my stamped image. The Versa Mark grabs the pastels. I added some color pencil lines to get a little more detail.

I used the Swallowtail stamp and the Versa Mark and Pan Pastels same way as above. Then I used my black gel pen to identify the Swallowtail's body.

I am sure I will need some kind of fixative or acrylic spray to set the pastels. But I am enjoying this technique so much. It's very relaxing.

JFF

Hi There!

Well, I had a few evenings to play this week, just by my lonesome.
So I perused Pinterest to get some ideas and I came up with these cards.

This one was for my monochromatic board on Pinterest. This was all done in Stampin' Up! Hunter Green.

This was a sort of challenge proposed to me by my dear friend Debbie Segler

The card above was stamped with Versa Mark, then dusted with Perfect Pearls. Lovely.

This card was stamped using the same stamps and Versa Mark. Only this time I used embossing powder and heat embossed.

So I like both versions. However, if you use Perfect Pearls you need to use some sort of sealer so that when you pick up your card and you stick your thumb on the image you don't come away with half of the powder.
NOTE**** For both of these cards the stamping was done on SU! Vellum.

JFF

Playing around with my Brushos last night and I came up with this. I got really lucky when the ink dripped down the right hand side of the card. It formed a perfect shadow of a tree. I then used my white gel pen to high light the trunk and branches. I love the sentiment. It is stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed in White embossing powder.

MUSE116

Muse Challenge #116

The sample card inspired me by the colors and the layout. I chose to sprinkle Brusho onto my cs and spritz with water to get the multiple colors.I found that if I sprinkled the yellow then the leaf green and finally the turquoise I got a similar gradation in color as the Muse sample. I felt the chalkboard cs would be a close representation of the circle element on the Muse sample.
I have been experimenting a lot lately with Brushos, Bistre and Irredescent Creative Mediums. I love the surprises I've had with each element. Today is the first time I have used the Brushos and Creative Medium together. I am pretty content with the turn out. Oh and lets not forget those cardboard stencils from Faber Castell!

The products used to create this card:

SU! Very Vanilla and Chalk Board CS
Unity Stamp Co set Everything Wonderful
Versa Mark Ink
Ranger Seafoam White EP
Imagine Crafts Creative Medium Turquoise Irredescent
Faber Castell Stencil
ColourCraft Brusho Paint Crystals Yellow, Leaf Green and Turquoise
SU! Punches 2 3/8" Scallop Circle & Blossom

Freshly Made 183

Using the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches I created the card above.

I don't have a professional set up for photographing my card so this image does not do this card justice. The image is stamped in Versa Mark ink onto Always Artichoke cs. Then using Perfect Pearls in powder form, I took a small paint brush, picked up a little of the powder with the bristles and in a circular motion applied the powder to the Versa Mark ink. Its a really fun technique and like Forrest Gump's mother always said,
It's like a box of chocolates... You never know what you're going to get."

Below is the sketch for this week at Freshly Made Sketches it is #183.

More Bister

Today, I used Bister with a stamped image and at mask.
To begin, I stamped with flower onto cs using Versa Mark. Then heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then I punched a circle from another piece of cs and used it as a mask over my stamped flower. Then I sprinkled Red and Mahogany colored Bister on my piece. Spritzed with a little water and watched the magic happen. When it was dry, I used yellow and pink ink pads and sponges to work in the color on the flower. This one is now ready to make a card.
YouTube has several video tutorials on Bister. You just have to type in Bister into the search.

Green Monochromatic

Found this beauty created by Marion Vagg on Pinterest. So then I created this.

What a beautifully fun, creative and simple technique.
Here's how I did it!
I Stamped the lovely Fancy Flower from Chocolate Baroque in Versa Mark. Heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then using Copic marker #G07 Nile Green I flicked in the areas where I thought it would be darker. Then I stamped the butterfly from SU! set Nature Walk and added the dark green. I matted my image on SU! Whisper White cs. Then I mounted a piece of the same lime green cs to a matte of SU! Whisper White and ran it through my Big Shot inside the Spring Flowers ef from SU! A little bit of ribbon and bling from Making Memories and all that's left is to stamp Happy Birthday inside and this one is D-O-N-E!

Hope you enjoyed this card. I thank Marion Vagg for her inspiration on Pinterest.

Christmas is passed

I sure hope this Christmas was a blessing for you. Mine truly was. We got to spend the holidays with our family. It was so wonderful. We had such a great visit with my parents, sister and our children and grandson. Time flew by of course. But we made the best of it.

My hubs gave me a Light Pad for Christmas. Here I used a deep purple cardstock and some Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Powder in Desert Moon Turquoise. I love Lindy's eb powders because they all have an iridescence to them. The photo was taken using my Light Pad. It was all totally an experiment. BUT, I love it!

What did you get for Christmas? Was there 1 special gift that you like most? Or were they each a great gift?

Thanks for peeping in today.

I wish you a very Happy New Year 2015!
May we all be blessed with health, wealth and happiness!

Christmas Card Challenge 42

Christmas Card Challenge #42 - Music. Stamp is from Chocolate Baroque. It's stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed with Ranger Seafoam White embossing powder. I added a yellow rhinestone for the Eastern Star. The doily came from a local restaurant. I just cut it in half to make it fit my card. DSP is from Glitz Love You Madly paper pack.
