TPP199

The Paper Players Challenge #199 - For my card I chose the Land of the Free stamp from Stampin' Up! I haven't used it very much since I purchased it. But when I saw the color combo this week I just had to go for it!

I started with Whisper White base. Then I cut stripes from Real Red. I punched the stand for my flag out of Night of Navy with the 1" circle punch and then cut it in half. The pole is from Silver Shimmer Paper and the little stars are from my stash of embellishments.

I went with a patriotic theme for my card. But red, white and blue works for any occassion, any time of the year.

Paper Players 165

This week The Paper Players Challenge is Tic Tac Toe.
If you scroll down some you will see the tic tac toe board. For my card I chose right across the middle --
Patterned Paper, Embossing & Any Shade of Blue. I also through in some pearls from the middle bottom.

The patterned papers are from Stampin' Up! The blue cs is from Close to My Heart.

Below you can see the pearls a little better.

My stamps are from Chocolate Baroque. Love their stamps!!!
The scene stamp was stamped in Versa Mark onto the blue cs and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Same thing for the sentiment. Yes I am in full swing on Christmas card making. I am so excited for cooler weather.
I have a Christmas/Winter card swap going on my FaceBook so if you'd like to join in the swap just (e-mail me) and I'll add you to the swap.

TPP159

Today I am playing along with  The Paper Players challenge #159. Below is my card for the challenge. I chose the "Black Magic" technique for my card. The more I try this technique the more I fall in love with it. It's basically stamping your image in WHITE ink onto BLACK cs. Then when the ink dries you use your color pencils to color the image. Then you come back with a white Signo Gel pen and highlight. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeazy!

For my card I chose Close to My Heart's Treasures stamp set. I used the largest dandelion flower and the straight stem along side of the sentiment stamp in the collection. The butterfly is from Stampin' Up! Best of Butterflies which is one of their anniversary stamp sets. I colored with my PrismaColor Pencils. I invested in their 132 ct pencil set and I just adore coloring with them. They work perfectly for this technique.
Go ahead and give the "Black Magic" a try. I know you will love it as much as I.

Here's the challenge at The Paper Players this week.

One Layer--The Paper Players Challenge #142

I got up feeling better than I have in months! That said, I made this card on Weds. when my gal pal Deb came to visit. But It was lacking something. I had just stamped the image and added the punched leaves. It was flat and quite frankly "bleh". So this morning, feeling all chipper I decided to add some Ranger Liquid Pearls. I am lovin' it NOW!

So, my thought for you is, if ever you create something and you are not completely happy with it; WALK AWAY. Leave it. Go do something else. Then when you are of a fresh mind, go back and see what you can do to make it an "I LOVE IT" project.

Hope today you have a little "Spring" in your step!

Paper Players #136 and Little Tangles #8 - Paper Players is a color combo - Regal Rose, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Early Espresso. Little Tangles Challenge is "Anything Goes". For my card I chose to use Stampin' Up! products from my markers to may cardstock. Even my piercing pattern and tools. The only two things on my card that are not SU are the dsp and the lime green cardstock.

Love this color palette and the chance to throw my own LO out there was fun too!

The Paper Players have us "in stitches" this week! LOL That's the theme LeAnne chose for the challenge this week. Lucky for me, I won some blog candy from HippieAud a while back and included in the candy was Spellbinders embossabilities Sewing Elements. So fun to work with! I used the dress form and the sewing machine from the set. My stamps are from Flourishes. Hubs bought three packages of various buttons from a garage sale last summer. I know my sentiment is a little obscure but I thought "MADE" could imply sewing.

Hope you like my card.

The Paper Players Challenge #134.

I went out of the box on this one. I created my own background from a piece of scrap dsp.
I saw this technique on Pinterest. I found it HERE. Basically, what you need is a patterned paper and an embossing folder, some Versa Mark and some clear embossing powder, a dauber and some black re-inker.

Run your dsp through your Big Shot machine in the embossing folder. Then lightly drag your Versa Mark over the raised areas. Sprinkle with embossing powder, dust away any embossing powder that falls into the valleys. Then heat. Repeat this process about 3 or 4 times. Then with a dauber and some black ink daub the black ink into the valleys, until they are completely covered. Then take a paper towel and rub ink off any ink that may have gotten onto the raised areas. It's a resist process and I am now "in love" with it!

So anyhoo, this is my entry for this week's episode of The Paper Players Challenge.

The Paper Players Challenge #129 - Clean & Simple. Got it!
01/24/2013 @ 9:45 p.m. My sweet friend Mary Beth went to join her husband, Dave with our Heavenly Father. R. I. P.
I have a sweet friend, Mary Beth, who fell and broke her wrist. I wanted to make her a get well card and this challenge made that pretty easy for me to do. So using Stampin' Up! On the Grow (123077) which is retired to make my card. I inked up my stamp with Versa Mark then inked it again in Soft Suede and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Now you may ask me why? Well, the Versa Mark helps hold the embossing powder on and the colored ink outlines the stamped image so that when I use my markers or crayons or color pencils to color, the color stays where I put it. A little Stampin' Up! Summer Starfruit ribbon and it's a done deal.

Spellbinders dies, Copics markers and DCWV Rustic & Shimmer packs were also used in creating this card.

Merry, Merry Christmas

The Paper Players Challenge #119, such a lovely sketch! Their DT has created some beautiful things for your eyes this week.

Do you ever OVER THINK a design? I do it a lot! And I hate that I do but sometimes I just can't seem to hold back. This time I went with less is more. I had pulled out about 4 different dsp for this project when I sat back and looked at it and thought to myself,
"WOW, that's awfully busy!" That's when I stepped away and looked at the sketch again and saw it in this simpler design. I LOVE IT! Hubs even said it's a nice color palette. :O)

Now everything you see except the embossing folder on the banner is Stampin' Up! product. Please feel free to ask any questions. If you want to buy supplies for this card please check out my shop at www.bettystampstx.stampinup.net Also make sure you check my side bar for something special from Stampin' Up!

The Paper Players Challenge #110 - use the sketch.

Very CAS simple sketch. For my card I decided to use some NEW Stampin' Up! Products from the Holiday Catalog. I stamped the ornaments from Ornament Keepsakes #128051 (C) #128048 (W) in Gumball Green and Real Red. Then I used the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Die to cut them out. I added some mini brads and some silver gel pen to dress them up a bit. The sentiment was stamped using Merry & Type #122552 (C) #122550 (W). I added a little bling with the Rhinestones.

MOJO Monday 255 & TPP109

MOJO MONDAY #255 & The Paper Players #109 (paper piecing).

I think this MOJO sketch is very MOJO-rific! I used Stampin' Up! dsp to piece my tree and birdie, to stick with the theme of The Paper Players challenge. I liked the effect of the pattern on the tree as it made it look like garland. I added some stickles to make more garland and some snow. I stickled the ornaments as well. I added stickles ot my little stamped Santa hat too. Merry Merry Christmas to you!
