JFF58 Caged Bird

Image
So this week I won an Ebay sale for Tim Holtz Caged Bird Die.I fell in love with a project I saw on someone's blog. However I am not going to show you that project today. Still working with the die I cut the cage from silver metal. Then I painted it with two coats of Ranger Patina in Antique Copper, letting it dry between coats. You can see the first coat going on below.

I cut the little bird and it's wing from 2 different dsp with the same pattern. I distressed them a little bit with Ranger Distress Ink in Walnut Stain. Added a little green rhinestone for an eye. Crystal Effects on the wing for some added dimension.
Above is the completed card. As you can see I was so excited with the finished project I couldn't even wait for the Crystal Effects to dry. :O) The Dogwood branch and blossoms are from my friend's die. I mounted everything on Bashful Blue cs and distressed the edges. Then matted with Island Indigo.

Best Dad Ever

Image
This is my dad's Father's Day card. I can show it here and on FB because Dad doesn't do the Internet. At 84 soon to be 85 in August, we are so lucky to still have him with us. He went through by pass surgery about his 80th birthday. They said he had 5 blockages then. He's over come that medical issue. Dad is originally from Louisiana, that's why I chose to make this scene scape card for this Father's Day. He and Mom live in Texas now with my sis. So this card will bring Dad back to his roots so to speak.
Regardless, we hope Dad has a very Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day 2013 to ALL the Dads out there!!!

Doodling Henna

Image
This is MY version of what I saw on  the 'Mir'acle Art Inspiration blog. Since I could not find a tutorial for the design I just free hand drew my hand then doodles in the lines.

I started my project by brayering Rich Razzleberry, then Calypso Coral, ending with Daffodil Delight. Then I just started drawing a hand. Once the hand was drawn I doodled.

I'm off now for my vacay. See yall next week!

This week, Dynamic Duos is celebrating their 1 Year Anniversary! Congratulations ladies on your continued success. I enjoy playing Dynamic Duos because the color combos are always a challenge for me. However, I love Poppy Parade and Lucky Limeade! Green is my favorite color and I just think these two colors complement each other so well. My card was created using DCWV dsp and Stampin' Up! Stamps as well as Stampin' Up! ribbon, ink, die and punch.
Stamps : Stampin' Up! Beautiful Birthday, Betsy's Blossoms, Everything Eleanor

CASEStudy #140 - Maile Belles. Learned a new technique last week and figured I'd use it for this CASE. The technique is called Black Magic. Stamping on black cs with white in of a solid image. Then heating the ink dry. Then using colored pencils coloring over the white ink. I love this! It has the feel of tole painting.

If you love challenges like I do, head on over to the CASEStudy blog and join in on the fun!
If you're interested in trying the Black Magic Technique click HERE. Thanks to Eileen!

Dynamic Duos #51 - daffodil delight and baja breeze. Also entering this one in the CASology challenge to use hexagons.

I really love my honey comb ef from Stampin' Up! I think it works on so many levels. Who says it has to be bees all the time? Not me! I went with some chipboard stickers from Pink Paislee and My Minds Eye. I incorporated my build a bird punch. Clean And Simple baby! That's what it's all about!

Catered Crop

Catered Crop - Make an Impression. I used a Stampin' Up! EF then I painted in the design with Ranger Pearls. I think it takes the "impression" to a whole new level.

What a fun challenge! Totally enjoyed it! If you want to play along too go to Catered Crop and join in!

. MoJoMonday #291 - What a fabby sketch! I really like this one!!!
I used scraps from my stash to create this card. Love using up little bits and pieces of leftovers.

The image is from Stampin' Up! Serene Silhouettes. I used a Rubber Stamp Paint Box with rainbow colors to stamp my image on Whisper White cs. I wanted it to look like grass and sky but I stamped it wonky. In the end I like it! I also had a 6 inch piece of rainbow colored twine that I cut and taped behind my cardstock then tied a little knot with what was leftover. A couple of punches and some bird tail cuts and this one was fini'!

Dynamic Duos Challenge #50 - Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride.
For my card I used a Spellbinders Embossibilities folder. Inked up the inside with Calypso Coral. Then ran it through my Cuttlebug. The butterfly and sentiment are from Unity Stamps SOTW club - Real Happiness Shared. I added some Ranger pearls and some buttons from SU and Mossy Made.

Great color combo for those pastel lovers.
