NOEL - SFYTT

NOEL - SketchForYouToTry from i {heart} 2 stamp. My Penny Black stamp, Noel, was stamped in Versa Mark then I heat embossed some Zing. My base was a recycled piece from a swap card. Ribbons are from Keep In Touch kits. These lovely brads were made by me using my 'NEW' ChatterBox Easy Brad Maker starter kit. The snowflakes inset into my brads are little scraps of an Anna Griffin white and wilver glitter dp.

CUTTLEBUG CHALLENGE #84

Hi There:
Well, this week one of our members suggested to me that since we have so many members, as a ploy to get more members to play in the challenges I would offer up some of my digi images for free. So I decided this is what I will do.
Below are (2) of my images. They are watermarked, however, if you sign up to play and send me a request as to which image you'd like to work with this week I will e-mail the image (without watermark) directly to you. Then you go into your Word program and resize the image and print. You can color with a computer program, markers, color pencils, watercolor pencils, crayons, whatever.

Rules for this challenge:

1.You must use your Cuttlebug on some portion of the project.
2. You must use one of my digital images ( pick one or both of the images below, let me know which you want and I can e-mail it to you).
3. You must use the color combo: green, brown, teal, pink and white
4. You must tag your photo : pcpcuttlebug
5. Post your creation here or provide a link to your project here so we can see it.

birthday wishes - pcpcuttlebug#83

birthday wishes - PaperCraftPlanet Cuttlebug-ers Challenge #83 - emboss with chipboard. Below is a little slide show of what I did to create this card.
My Cuttlebug sandwich A plate, B plate, chipboard, cardstock, tan mat, and B plate. Then I ran it through my 'bug'.

This is the a pic of the imprint that was left on my tan mat after I embossed the white cardstock. (Not to worry it's not permanent).

Then I took a dauber and smudged black ink on the peaks and valleys.

I put it through my 'bug' with the Top Note die and cut the embossed image and a piece of black cardstock. I trimmed around the embossed piece. Then I matted it onto the black. I matted a pieces of grey, yellow and black behind that. I used the star and heart chipboard pieces as embellishments with a stamped butterfly and a rhinestone flower.

If you enjoy using your bug please play along with our PCP CUTTLEBUG-ERS Challenges. If you do play along please use the tag: pcpcuttlebug

Thank you - CCC11

Thank you - CraftyCalendarChallenge #11 sponsored by Prairie Fairy Designs. The challenge was to use their sketch and the theme 'around the world'. I think my card has a tropical feel to it and the flowers looked like hibiscus to me. So I went to Hawaii. :O)
DEETS:
To make my card, I cut a piece of white cardstock at 3 7/8 x 4 1/2 inches. Then I punched a 2 5/16 inch circle and used it for my moon.  I brayered yo yo yellow over the entire piece of white cardstock. Then I placed the moon and brayered some grey and then very lightly with some black. Then I stamped the image in black. I sponged black in a semi circle across the bottom of my card then I pounced black all around the edges. I matted the finished image on yo yo yellow, grey and black and then I attached it to a piece of grey card. I stamped a little branch of greay on a piece of white cardstock and then I stamped Thank you in black. I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I punched the sentiment out and attached it to a piece of yo yo yellow and two pieces of black cardstock. I added a little piece of decorative trim and my flowers with silver brad inserts. Stamps are from Stampin' Up! Fresh Cuts set.
I think my NEW favorite color combo is yellow, grey and black. :O)

SoftPencil New Releases!!! AND Simon Says Make A Gift

Deets on this project are lower in the post...

Hello, how are you? I hope you´re very well :O)

This week is a non posting week for the DT but, Elizabeth has asked us post on our blogs about the new Halloween digi-stamps? Just released five spooky designs that are available in her shop and her Etsy shop along with the five Halloween digi-stamps that were released last year. We hope you like them and use them on your projects!

Here is a little sample of what can be done with SoftPencil's images.

To begin: My black cardstock was cut to 6.75 x 3.25 inches. Then I scored and folded at 3.25 & 3.50 inches. I punched a couple of holes in between those folds so my thread could go through. I cut an orange piece of cardstock 1/8 inch smaller all around. Then I cut my base cardstock fro each page 3 x 3 inches. All the images come front SoftPencil already colored ( :O)  I used various dies to cut my images out. I used stickers from Creative Imaginations. I cut little pieces of dp frp, My Mind's Eye's BOO! to YOU! collection.  Then I added some odds and ends I had in my Fall/Hallween/Thanksgiving stash.
The Knock Knock joke came off the Internet: Knock Knock! Knock Knock! These words were printed off my computer using the Beyond Wonderland Font.

The sticker on page 2 says, "Who's there?"

                                                                                        Page 3, "Ben".

Page 5, "Ben who?"

Page 6 you have to push the little tab up, "Ben waiting for Halloween all year!"

Page 7 is one of another of SoftPencil's digis, Happy Halloween. I added a 3-D trick or treat sack with some faux candy inside.
Hope you enjoyed my little Halloween book. This is a gift for my grandson, Zack. Think he'll like it???

SoftPencil also has a sweet little Halloween freebie for you to play with HERE.

This gift book was created and entered in the Simon Says make a gift challenge.
Their sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp.

HOWDY! - LTXTS7 & LTXTS7a

Howdy! - Libby's Texas Tues-Step. I know I am hung up on horses. But I saw this image in a recent movie and thought it was Texas and would make a terrific Tues-Step card. So there you have my reasoning. Next week I promise I'll do something different. :O)
Now if you're new to Texas Tues-Step then let me clue you in...
Texas Tues-Step is a group of cardmakers from Texas; living there now, lived there once, or whose heart resides in Texas who every 1st and 3rd Tuesday create and post Texas themed cards on their blogs. Be sure to check out the rest of Trail Boss Libby's Posse. You can find their links in my sidebar.

Deets on my card: I brayered basic black and night of navy on the top and bottom of my white cardstock. Then I inked up my horse stamp and stamped off then onto my cardstock 3 times. Then I inked it up again and stamped directly on the cardstock 3 times. I smudged a little basic black ink over the lower portion of the moon. I stamped the branches from SU Embrace Life. Then I colored the leaves in with my navy American Crafts Stamp Marker. I stamped Howdy in white ink on my navy cardstock.

Ok so I couldn't resist! Deadbeat Mark sent me this TEXAS stamp as a Thank You and I just had to use it ( Thank YOU Mark!). The little lasso Cowboy is from The Cat's Pajamas. In an earlier post I showed a little tutorial on creating your own embossing tools for use with your Cuttlebug. The background paper here is from that tutorial. See, when I think of Texas I think of the Old West and all things, dirty and dusty. So distressing comes in to play. So I colored the stars in the background paper with my PermaPague markers. I stamped TEXAS in chocolate brown, but what you can't see in the picture is the letters have little lines down the centers. I colored in those lines with my red PermaPague marker. My little cowboy was colored almost completely with the PermaPague markers - silver, metalic blue, red. I used my Copic marker #E71 for his hat and vest. Then I used #YR00 for his face. The star brad is from Creative Imaginations.

Happy Birthday, Human - CSBZNTSS17 & PPC-CC26

Happy Birthday, Human - CardSketchesByZacksNana Trish's Sunday Sketches#17 and Picture Perfect Creations - CraftyChallenges #26 - colors: Pacific Point, Poppy Parade, and Whisper White. The image is from SU. I colored with Copics and American Crafts markers. As you can see by Trish's sketch I tweaked it some. I added the geometrics on bottom right to fill the white blank spaces a little (my card is for my friend Sue's grandson Westin, so I kept it simple but cute). The silver stickers are from Colorbok.
Thanks Trish for some great inspiration this week and I think I may be using this sketch again! Love it!

Lucky Stars! a tutorial...

Lucky Stars - a tutoiral...
Given the recent rage of creating your own embossing folders for use with your Cuttlebug. Here's something relatively simple I created using just PaintShoPro and my printer. In PSP I just clicked on new and started a new image (for my purposes I used 8.5 x 11 inches). I clicked on tools and used the shapes tool with a predesigned star image. I then chose the print multiples option so I could resize the star. The 1st star image I placed was 2.5 x 2.5 inches. Then I placed new stars in 1/2 inch increments until I had 5 stars on my 8.5 x 11 inch base. Then I hit print. They were printed out on a heavy weight (thick) cardstock. Then I cut them all out including the centers.
Then to the Cuttlebug I went. My sandwich was A plate, B plate, stars, cardstock to be embossed, tan matte, B plate, Tim Holtz Grunge Board. I ran this sandwich through and Voila I had star embossed cardstock. I used some chocolate Close to my Heart distressing ink to show the pattern. Then I colored with my PermaPague copper marker.
I hope my little tutorial helps you. If you try my technique I'd sure love to hear about you results.

Hello Kitty - PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS#82

Hello Kitty - PaperCraftPlanet Cuttlebug-ers Challenge #82 -  So here is the official challenge post from PCP:
Hidee Ho Neighbors!

Hope everyone is doing well on this fine day! It's Sunday here in the states and in north Texas it's hotter than:

It's so hot the hens are layin' hard-boiled eggs.
It's been hotter'n a goat's butt in a pepper patch.
It's hotter than a stolen tamale.
It's so hot,the chickens have to use potholders to pull the worms out of the ground.
Hotter than a two dollar pistol at an all night shoot out.
Hotter than hell's door hinges.

So is it hot enough for you?

On to the challenge...
I am thinking since it's sooo hot here in the U.S. we could go with a fall themed card. So drag out your black cats and make a card using a black cat and some black, orange and purple on your cards. Just remember to use your 'bug' in some way. That could mean embossing, cutting, etc.

Your tag is always going to be: pcpcuttlebug

For my card I used a yellow orange cardstock to stamp my cat on. Then I added a black and white ribbon and a felt flower to embellish my card. The embossed purple cardstock was a RAK. Cats, purple, orange and black don't always mean Halloween. I hope that my card reveals that.

Thanks for joining me this week and I am sooo looking forward to something eery and cool in this summer heat.

For my card I worked with 2 separate images from Ward's Digis (1) Stripe Girl and (2) Slug Bug. I colored my image with Copics and Spicas. The dp is another scrap from that Crate Paper I used on the previous card (this time I did NOT distress). Brads are from Kaiser.

Love Me Tender - C4C50

Love Me Tender - Crazy4Challenges #50 - Elvis week! Ok, if you use an Elvis stamp (I don't have one) you get double points... My turkey is a vintage image from VintageHolidayCrafts. He REALLY catches your eye! The image was printed 3 times and cute out, added foam adhesives and mounted one on top of the other. There is no hat on the top image.

Since it is Elvis week I used sheet music dp from the My Minds Eye collection Lost & Found. I also used some music note tape from Tim Holtz. Everything was torn and distressed with Close To My Heart distress ink in Chocolate. The green dp is part of a huge mushroom top from Crate Paper's Little Sprout } Stuffed collection.  I am thinking of making a set of these to send to my family members for Thanksgiving. I would only have to make 5 more. But I am not sure I have the patience to duplicate... umm anybody know the word for multiples of 5? Anyhoo, hope you enjoy.
I am an Elvis fan. I love his music, his movies and that fateful day in August 1977 I remember exactly where I was, and what I was doing and that I bawled my eyes out when I heard the news.
If you too are a TRUE died in the wool Elvis fan go to Crazy4Challenges #50 and play along. Won't it be fun to see all the different Elvis creations?!

Timeless Wonder - OAC26

Timeless Wonder - Oh! Alice #26 - Sizing things up. "We are sizing up a GREAT sketch by JEN and the main panel just HAPPENS to be THREE. INCHES. TALL. :) Now, of course you don't have to stick to this if your image won't fit, but we didn't want to anger Mr. Caterpillar by saying that Three inches wasn't a respectable height..." Jessica aka MadHatter.
My card has a very masculine feel to it. I really like the way it turned out. If you do too, please leave a peep in the comments. Thanks.

Deets:
Graphic45 - dp (I am LOVIN' all their new DP!)
Crystal Effects on all the watch faces
JustRite Stamps - sentiment

Celebrate - JPDC12 - Theloni0us Monk

Celebrate - Jazzy's Paper Designs Challenge #12 - Thelonious Monk. When I saw this CD cover, I instantly saw a sketch and I saw masculine. I can only hope my card conveys that to you as well.

A little about Mr. Monk - Thelonious Sphere Monk (October 10, 1917 – February 17, 1982) was an American jazz pianist and composer considered "one of the giants of American music". Monk had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "Epistrophy", "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser" and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second most recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington, which is particularly remarkable as Ellington composed over 1,000 songs while Monk wrote about 70.

Often regarded as a founder of bebop, Monk's playing later evolved away from that style. His compositions and improvisations are full of dissonant harmonies and angular melodic twists, and are consistent with Monk's unorthodox approach to the piano, which combined a highly percussive attack with abrupt, dramatic use of silences and hesitations.

Monk's manner was idiosyncratic. Visually, he was renowned for his distinctive style in suits, hats and sunglasses. He was also noted for the fact that at times, while the other musicians in the band continued playing, he would stop, stand up from the keyboard and dance for a few moments before returning to the piano. One of his regular dances consisted of continuously turning counterclockwise, which has drawn comparisons to ring-shout and Sufi whirling.

He is one of only five jazz musicians to be featured on the cover of Time (the other four being Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Wynton Marsalis, and Dave Brubeck). (Borrowed from Wikipedia)

As always is the case here, you don't have to love Jazz, you don't even have to like Jazz to play along. You could simply groove on the color combo or even the layout of the card. Whatever inspires you!
Don't forget to check out the creations of my fellow DT members ( links can be found in my side bar).

Ladybug on Flower - SoftPencil

Ladybug on Flower - another SoftPencil design. Elizabeth has really outdone herself with this one. I just adore this sweet little image. The smiling ladybug just makes you smile too. I printed the image 5 times and colored them with Copics lipstick red and black and American Crafts mustard, leaf and Stampin' Up! real red markers. I matted my image on red cardstock from Bazzill and then on some kiwi vellum. The dp is from American Crafts. I added a little piece of red satin ribbon to the stem of the flower on the card and popped it up on foam adhesives and called this project done. I have no sentiment on my card yet and this giftie has no recipient yet.
Please join me and the other design team members (check their links in my side bar) this week and use SoftPencil images to make some super cute cards, altered items or scrapbook pages. AND be sure to check out the NEW Halloween digis Elizabeth has just added to her shop. AND she is offering up a terrific FREE Christmas digi.

Hi Baby - MOJO151 & PPC-CC25

Hi Baby - Mojo Monday #151  & Picture Perfect Creations Crafty Challenge#25 - so saffron, pink pirouette, and perfect plum. The image is a digi from Baby Bud Designs. It's colored with Copics. I added the little buttons to the wheels on the carriage. I just had to add a little green as there is a vine with flower in the image. Otherwise I think I stayed pretty true to the color combo. I stuck as close to the MOJO sketch as possible. The only thing that is off is my sentiment but I didn't want to put anything really big on the card as it is a welcome baby type card.
I used the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder and then I swiped the Regal Rose ink pad from Encore! Metallics over for some dimension on the swirls.

NOEL - a PCP 2 fer - PCPCOLOR78 & PCPSK080710

NOEL - PaperCraftPlanet Color challenge #78 - natural ivory, old oive, real red, chocolate chip AND PaperCraftPlanet Sketch Challenge 080710. This card was created using strictly scrap items. The card base is an old wedding announcement blank.  I rubbed some chocolate chip ink around the edges for distressing. Santa is one ornament of about 1/2 doz. my friend gave me. Noel stamp is one from Penny Black that I won in a blog candy give away last year. Cardstock is just scrap pieces I had lying around. Olive ribbon is a scrap from an old kit.
It's Sunday evening and hubs is out in the garage restoring radios and I was bored. So I came in my craft room/office and searched PaperCraftPlanet for some challenges I could play with. I found these two, which I have played along in before. Just been a while. So I gave them a whirl and decided to match them up colors and sketch.
