GOD writes the GOSPEL

My dear Canadian friend, Marion Evans stamped me a few of these sunflowers to play with and today I did just that. I used my Copics and some of my Stampin' Up! markers to do the coloring. I'm sorry you can't see the sentiment too well but it says, "GOD writes the GOSPEL not in the BIBLE alone, but on TREES and FLOWERS and CLOUDS and STARS. ~Martin Luther. I love this saying. For me, it exemplifies Spring.

I added dried watermelon seeds for my sunflower centers and adhered them with Crystal Effects.
Hope you like it!

This card was really fun to make. I used a variety of stamps from two different sets. I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
iSpy Sketches: use their sketch

Cupcake Craft Challenges: the Sound of Music to incorporate music into the design. I chose the song Beyond the Sea for my theme.

Chicks Rule

4 Crafty Chicks Challenge - Chicks Rule! - Gotcha covered!!!
I just flew (pun intended) by the seat of my britches on this one. I just took a piece of 12x12 cs and cut it down to 11 x 4. Then I scored at 1 3/4", 5 `/2", 6 5/16" and 7 3/16". It makes the cutest little purse/treat holder.

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS 136

Hello And Welcome PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS!

I've been racking my brain to try to bring some new challenges to the table. So Thursday night and Friday, I stayed over at my friend, Deb's house. We played all night and all day!!!
So I was telling her I needed some new ideas and she asked me if I'd ever marbled. I told her I had done some marbling in the past ( way back). However, the more she talked, the more I realized we weren't speaking of the same technique. So that brings us to Challenge #136 - Marbling the Deb Segler way.

She said to use a marble and an old ice tray. Since I didn't have either I used an old acrylic brad package and a round bead. So either way, here's how you go:
1. In the container (ice tray or whatever) drops several drops of re - inker. I used Calypso Coral, Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Lucky Limeade.
2. Drop in your marble or bead.
3. Roll the marble or bead around in the ink.
4. Cut 1 piece of white cardstock 4" x 5.25".
5. Place the cardstock in a clean used meat tray or I used one half of my stamp cleaner witht he rough stuff taken out.
6. Drop the marble or bead onto the cardstock and keep moving the tray around rolling the marble/bead on the cardstock.
7. Keep up with process until you have the color as saturated as you like.
8. Clean the marble/bead.
9. If using an ice tray drop another color into another section of the tray.
10. Drop in the marble/bead and repeat steps 6 - 9. My suggestion is not to use more than 4 colors as it will muddy up the colors.

Now when I had completed the marbling process, my cardstock was still a little too white. So I spritzed it with a little bit of clear water. I gently blew on a little puddle and moved it around until I liked what I saw. Then I used my heat tool to dry and set the ink.

Now this is your background paper/cardstock. I put my peice through my "bug" with an embossing folder, matted it on a coordinating paper, added some embellies and ribbon. Voila!

Wanna see???

Well here ya go!

If you find this technique too labor intense just get some dsp and emboss it and upload your photo. But if you try this technique, I'd LOVE to see your creations!

Please tag your photos: pcpcuttlebug, pcpcuttlebug136, pcpcuttlebugers

Thanks and HAVE FUN!

ColourQ

ColourQ127 -- this is my first time playing along with the ColourQ. I just really played because the colors spoke to me - Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery and White. I think part of the reason it spoke to me was because I had this cute little paper stack with these awesome colors featured on every sheet. So I used my Stampin' Up! punches and punched 3 branches with the Bird Builder punch. Using the same punch I punched the little birds and their feathers. Then with the Cupcake Builder punch I used the frosting part of the cupcake for my clouds. Added a couple of pearls and a little Early Espresso ink to make the eyes. Stamped my sentiment and called it a day. Now I am off to bed. Night folks!

Inspirational Card Sketches

Inspirational Card Sketches Challenge #154 and the cloud pattern from Van Laar Designs played rather well together. Or at least I think so. LOL

I printed the cloud and then flipped it. Sponged some Pool Party ink around the edges. Printed and cut another cloud on dsp for my shadow effect. I punched a large scalloped circle out of dsp and stamped and drew lines on it to respresent my sun. The hot air balloon is a flower petal punched from Build a Blossom punch. I added some twine for the ropes and a tiny square for the basket. The sentiment reads, The sky's the limit. Inside sentiment is Happy Birthday, wishing you a wonderful day.

Sugar Creek Hollow

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge #1 TRASH TO TREASURE --
They asked us to take something that would normally be headed for your garbage can or your recycling bin and transform it into a vintage, shabby chic or primitive treasure. They were also hoping that we'd make use of our scraps in this challenge but that shouldn't be considered our trash item.
So here we go!
The first thing I found was these torn and wrinkled pieces of packing tissue.

Then I came across this little Take Out Box (yes it was unused but I never could figure out what to make with them).

But I think I remedied that situation. Happy Easter was born from a couple of cupcake picks (leftovers from a birthday). A paper doily (picked up at a Mexican restaurant) from under a bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup. Some lace and ribbons scraps, a piece of  12 x 12 decorative paper, some ribbon rosettes, bead trim and Voila! A Happy Easter basket I can display on my dining table!
Oh, and if you are wondering where the tissue went, it's stuffed down in the bottom of the take out box and the picks were just stuck down into it.

Twisted LEAP

Ok, sometimes my Twisted Sketches DT assignments are just too stinkin' FUN! That's exactly how I felt this week when creating this little jewel! All of the letters were computer generated and colored in with my markers. I have to say, this is a really terrific sketch. I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw it and the theme for this challenge. Please go check out the rest of the DT's creations. There are a slew of very talented ladies on the TS Challenges DTs. They RAWK!

Lily Pad KLPPC

This is my entry for Kathy's Lily Pad Palette Challenge this week. At first, I thought I wasn't going to attempt this color combo; palest pink, Crumb Cake, and Tan. Sort of Shabby Chic, or at least that's the way I interpreted them. Eveything on this card is from my stash except the ink, the hat pin and the stamp. The button, flower, ribbon and beads all are things I had lying around.
I am REALLY diggin' these Hat Pins from Stampin' Up!

Photo A Day w/FatMumSlim

I recently stubbled across Fat Mum Slim. She's a young mother in Australia. I was intrigued by her blog and started sniffing around until I came across a post entitled A Photo A Day. After parusing a few of her photos I decided to try to play along. I don't know if I can keep it up every day but I want to try. I am not very good at photography though so what I see is what  you get. :o)

The topic for March 1 is UP. So this is what I see when I look up from my computer. Yes the fan blades are hand-painted by ME! This is my craft/computer room and this is what is above my head while I am creating.

March 2nd - Fruit
Kitchen counter. If we don't cover the bananas then we soon see fruit flies.
