CTD226

This is Color Throw Down Challenge #226 entry.

I had a hard time trying to figure out how to photograph this card. I tried it in a plate stand but I didn't like it. So I laid it flat and I still don't like it but it was a better shot than the other so, what you see is what you get. The photo, however, doesn't do the card justice. I find I feel that way a lot about my shots. I NEED a better lens, better light, or maybe just a better eye behind the camera. This card was stamped using Stampin' Up! God's Beauty. It's a retired set but it still has relevance in my opinion. I didn't use a sentiment because I haven't decided yet, what occassion I will use this card for. I think it would work for Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother Day, Sympathy, Anniversary or even a birthday. I used Stampin' Up! Labels Collection Framelits to cut the card base and the image.

FM70

Freshly Made Sketch Challenge #70.

Here's my take on the sketch...

To make my card, I found this flower I had stamped and colored at my friend's house. It was hiding in my stash. I fussy cut it and mounted it with dimensionals onto a piece of Calypso Coral cs. I used a Spellbinders die from A-2 Fancy Ribbon Threader. My sentiment is from a retired hostess set from Stampin' Up! Because I Care. The fabric brad is also Stampin' Up! The floral print cs is DCWV glitter page from the Rustic stack. I colored my flower with Stampin' Up! markers.

Be sure and check out the lovely projects created by the Freshly Made design team.

MOJO MONDAY 277

Hello! Welcome back.
Today's card was created using the sketch over at Verve's MoJo Monday Challenge #277. Really cute sketch this week. I love this little Geisha girl. I purchased her several years ago and every now and then I have to bring her out and play with her. Trouble is, I don't remember where I purchased her from.
I am hoping, you get the feel from the background of a Shoji screen. The stamp I used for that is called Quatrefold and it is from Stampabilities.

CASE-ing Anne Kristine Holt

Sizzix Blogs - Anne Kristine Holt --

Today when I saw her post, my jaw dropped! So I set myself up to CASE her creation. Now Anne's is a tag and envelope. Mine is just a card. Did I say, "just"? Well, it's too beautiful a project to announce is at simply "just" anything. You be the judge.
Here is my card

Below I am showing off the lovely Stampin' Up! charms I've added to my project.

Below I am highlighting the lovely bird and charms along with the sweet fabric roses.

To begin my project I took Very Vanilla cs and spritzed it with alcohol mixed with Marina Mist and Island Indigo ink and some Frost White shimmer paint. Then I used a paint brush dipped in my inks and tapped all around the cs. I then cut that piece of cs down to 3 1/2" x 5 1/4". I distressed with edges with some Soft Suede ink. Then I used the 2nd to largest SU Labels Collection Framelit and cut the music dsp. Then I stamped with butterfly from SU Strength & Hope set (if you have a butterfly die, USE IT) and craft cut it out of the center of my music paper. I distressed the inner and outer edges of the music paper with more Soft Suede.

My base card blank is Very Vanilla and I distressed it as well with the same Soft Suede ink.

Bird was punched from the spritzed paper using SU Bird Builder punch and the leaves were punched from SU Blossom Builder punch. I put a piece of the Co'ordniations Early Espresso through my Big Shot with the Woodgrain EF, then I fussy cut it into a branch. The little blue flowers are NEW to Stampin' Up! They are item #126869 pg 5 in the new Seasonal Mini catty. They come in white. I used my Spritzer with the inks and spritzed til I had desired coverage. Love em!

The ribbons are from my stash.

Day 7 Season of Love

Season of Love Day 7 - Apology. I know I skipped a few days. Not to worry, I will get to them. I just really wanted to try this one first.

For my card I chose the dress form stamp from Jodie Lee Designs - Item #950248.
Sentiments are computer generated.
My thread spools were created using the Round Tab punch from Stampin' Up! Then I just wrapped twine around it.

Other supplies : Spellbinders die, Ranger distress ink, Stampin' Up! buttons and brads.

PP129

The Paper Players Challenge #129 - Clean & Simple. Got it!
01/24/2013 @ 9:45 p.m. My sweet friend Mary Beth went to join her husband, Dave with our Heavenly Father. R. I. P.
I have a sweet friend, Mary Beth, who fell and broke her wrist. I wanted to make her a get well card and this challenge made that pretty easy for me to do. So using Stampin' Up! On the Grow (123077) which is retired to make my card. I inked up my stamp with Versa Mark then inked it again in Soft Suede and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Now you may ask me why? Well, the Versa Mark helps hold the embossing powder on and the colored ink outlines the stamped image so that when I use my markers or crayons or color pencils to color, the color stays where I put it. A little Stampin' Up! Summer Starfruit ribbon and it's a done deal.

Spellbinders dies, Copics markers and DCWV Rustic & Shimmer packs were also used in creating this card.

Day 2 Season of Love

Day 2 - Season of Love Class theme is Love.
With Love stamp is from Stampin' Up! Hand - Penned Holidays and the Fleur De Lis is a border stamp from Stampabilities Fleur De Lis Border (MR1025).

I inked the border stamp with Stampin' Up! - Only Orange, Lovely Lilac, Pink Passion and Ballet Blue. With
Love is inked with Gumball Green.

I was a little intimidated with this one as I can never get my stamping in a straight line. But the grid paper really helps with this technique.

Day 1 Bonus Season of Love

Day 1 of Season of Love class, BONUS, chalkboard technique. I didn't have any stamps I felt fit the "chalkboard" style so I went with this Hero Arts (K5421) Small Metal Flourish stamp and the sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Path of Life stamp set. I took the chalkboard technique one step further and stamped with Versa Mark and embossed with Ranger Seafoam White embossing powder. I used my Stampin' Up! Blossom Builder Punch and added some vines. I really enjoyed creating this and I will have to use the technique again.

Day 1 Season of Love

Hello Yall!

I have to brag a little bit. I won a class at Cindy Blancett Coutts Designs Season of Love!!! So today I am showing off my project for Week 1.

The theme for week 1 is ENCOURAGEMENT.

I have been a card maker/paper crafter since 1986 when I purchased my first card making program for my pc. But if you follow my blog you'll know that since the holidays my MOJO has gone on hiatus. Well, even I need some inspiration and "encouragement" if you will to get me back on track. So this class is helping me with that. I don't usually stamp the insides of my cards until I have picked a recipient and and ready to send, that leaves me the option of an any occasion card. But Cindy challenged us to complete the card and I am thrilled with my creation!

I don't own a lot of sentiment stamps so I REALLY drew from my stash.

Supplies:
Stamps : Stampin' Up! Serene Silhouettes, Hope Happens and There She Goes - Dance
Cardstock - Stampin' Up! Whisper White, American Crafts
DSP - DCWV
Inks - Stampin' Up! Pink Passion and Basic Black, Colorbox Olive Pastel
Brad: Stampin' Up! Summer Smooches Designer Fabric

Die-Cuts: Spellbinders Scallop Squares
Tools: Stampin' Up! Big Shot and Postage Stamp Punch
Technique: Die-cutting
Size: 4-1/4 sq.

You make me STEAMY

Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge #180
Unity Stamp of the Week - You make me steamy.

I stamped my image on patterned paper. Stamped the steam part of the stamp on some Real Red cs. Then stamped it again on the maroon cs. Then stamped just the lid portion on some Very Vanilla cs. I paper pieced the entire cup on to Real Red die cut cs.

I added some red gel glitter pen to the little hearts in the steam.

A heart brad some dsp and border punched shimmer cs, Stampin' Up! Gumball Green ribbon and the sentiment and this one is complete. Oh and please don't forget the Ranger Pearls!

Stuck in the mud

"when I am stuck in the mud, struggling with something, rather than just sit there accepting it, I need to start exploring, start searching for solutions, new possibilities. God made me creative and God made you creative. Now the question is, what new possibility does God have for you? Time to explore.." Mark Brown

So today I chose to think like Mark and I'm going to explore. Seems my mojo has gone on hiatus. So I will explore and when I think I have figured it out, I will explore some more!!!

How about you? Need some inspiration today? Mojo on hiatus?

Explore craft magazines, explore craft web sites, explore card making challenges, explore other crafty bloggers. EXPLORE!

That is all. I am off now to discover the possibilites.

First Post of 2013

Play Date with my friend Deb.

As you can see from the photo we strayed from winter and went directly into spring. It just felt too chilly in the house so we thought we'd warm things up a bit.

We had a fun day and although we didn't get many cards made we enjoyed the fellowship we shared.

Hope you like the cards I have for you today and maybe they'll inspire you to create something Spring-y!

The NEW Stampin' Up! Mini is now available and you can shop from it until May 31, 2013.
