BIG DAY!!!

My Big Shot is finally HERE!!! YAY!
I purchsed my Big Shot last week and I have been impatiently waiting! It's here now and I can't decide what I want to do first. BUT! I purchased some beautiful Stampin' Up! Fabrics (Springtime Vintage) so that may be the route I take!

In the meantime, I wanted to play along with Wee Memories challenge #40 (Anything Goes) this week so I made this cute little owl card. Now there are some products used that aren't Stampin' Up! but I did use Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White cs.
I used my Top Note die on the SU dp and a swirlie ef on the Cherry Cobbler tag. Then I kind of fudged with the cherry ribbon. I just thought it was fun and went along with the color combo. The stamps are from There She Goes and stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink. The tag dies are from Szzix Tim Holtz Alterations.
I'm off to play some more! Yawl have a nice evening!

Happy Birthday - CTD126 & C4C71

Happy Birthday - I love this color combo presented this week by The Color Throw Down ladies. This week it was Danielle who tossed these beauties at us: Early Espresso, Kiwi Kiss, Marina Mist and Old Olive. They just work sooo well together. This card could go feminine or masculine. As I don't often make masculine cards I think I'll keep this one for one of my male family members. The dp, cs, stamps and inks are all from Stampin' Up!

This card was created using the Sketch at Crazy4Challenges. It was a terrific sketch and it really enhances the color combo!

****NOTE: right now and through the 31st of March Stampin' Up! is bringing us Sale-A-Bration!!! Spend $50 in merchandise before shipping and earn yourself a FREE set of your choice (valued at $15.00 or less).
What to know more just e-mail me.

Thanks enough - MFTWSC#4

I just can't thank you enough! - My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #4.
I used my Shapabilities pendant to cut my medallion. Then I punched the scallop circle. I stamped my sentiment from Stampin' Up! set Say it with Scallops in Marina Mist. The medallion was cut from Stampin' Up! dp. The Whisper White was embossed using the Stampin' Up! Elegant Lines embossing folder.
I added some tourquoise rhinestones and some ribbon.

Nature Walk - JFF

This card was created - Just Fo Fun! using the new set Nature Walk #121997 ($18.95). It's in the Occasions Mini Catalog (Jan. 4 - April 30). The stamps used are all from this set; there are a total of 7 stamps in this set, including a birdcage! The textured cardstock is Stampin' Up! Cajun Craze. The dp on the lower section of the card is Stampin Up! Botanical Gazette #121783 ($9.95 FOR 12 SHEETS OF DOUBLE SIDED CS) which I distressed with the Vintage Ink Spot in Tea Stain.  The note paper at the top is from Pink Paislee. I added some twine and a black button to embellish. The bird was colored with Stampin' Up! markers in More Mustard, Daffodil Delight, and Marina Mist. I added a little pale green pearl for the eye and colored in a little Basic Black dot.
Hope you like my card. If you are interested in any of the Stampin' Up! products used in this creation, please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks.

Winter in Blue - PaperCraftStar#30 Scraplifting Jan Del Bone

Winter in Blue was created for PaperCraftChallenges#30 challenge to scraplift one of the DT member's creations. I chose this card by Jan Del Bone. I liked Jan's monochrome simple card, she used kraft, I used Pacific Point. I stamped Lovely as a Tree with Whisper White ink then I heat embossed with some Bridal embossing powder which has a little iridescence in it. This card also works for my PaperCraftPlanet Cuttlebug-ers #100 challenge.

my friend - FS138

my friend - Friday Sketchers#138.
This is a gatefold card, however that wasn't part of the sketch challenge. I just had the Cherry Cobbler cs piece already cut and folded for another project and decided this sketch worked well for a gatefold card. So to begin my finished card front measures 5.5 x 5.5 inches. I cut the Basic Black cs (2) @ 2.5 x 5.25 inches. Then I cut (2) red dots cs @ 1 5/8 x 5.25 inches. Then I used the largest of the pinked circles Nesties and cut of Cherry Cobbler. Then I cut the black and white damask with the second to largest Octogon Nestie. Then I cut the Cherry Cobbler tag and the Damask tag from the second and third smallest Nesties. Then I punched the sentiment pieces with a 2 inch scallop oval punch in Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. Stamps used are from Nature Walk and Perfect Punches. I stamped the butterfly in Cherry Cobbler and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I added some Basic Black with my marker and dotted with a couple rhinestones on the wing. Then sentiment was stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Cherry Cobbler. I added a few more rhinestones and some ribbon and called it complete!

Soul - LTXTS & TSTC42

Bread feeds the body, indeed, but flowers feed the soul. - Libby's Texas Tues - Step & Twisted Sketches Twisted Cards #42. Long about spring time in Texas these red poppies just "pop" up everywhere! I love all the wildflowers that we have in Texas. The poppies just seem to reach out at me this week. Please visit the rest of the POSSE's blogs and leave some love. You can find their links below and in the side bar.

My poppies are were stamped in Basic Black and colored with my blender pen using Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, and Pumpkin Pie. I started with the lightest color first working my way in towards the flowers' centers. Then on the stems and leaves I colored with Pear Pizzazz first and then I used Old Olive in the creases of the leaves and around the edges. Once my coloring was complete, added Glossy Accents to all of the flowers.
The "TWIST" in the Twisted Sketches Challenge this week was to use die cuts. Well, it may be hard to tell but the small scalled green border and the yellow pinked border are both die cut stickers. The lacey scalloped is a border punch.
The sentiment as well as the poppies are from There She Goes. Buttons and twine are from my stash.

Love - MOJO174

Love - Verve's Mojo Monday Challenge #174. I stamped my Stampin' Up! Wings of Friendship bird in clear Versa Mark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I brayered over first with Rose Romance, then Real Red and finally with Cherry Cobbler. Then I used my largest Nestie scalloped oval and cut the image, after which I daubed around the edges with Cherry Cobbler. I used the Stampin' Up! Elegant Bouquet embossing folder to emboss and then I cut it using my Top Notes die. I added ribbons, glitter stickers and rhinestones for some added pizzazz!

Thanks - C4C70

Crazy 4 Challenges #70 with a twist: This week's challenge is to create a card or project that incorporates a "thank you" sentiment. When you're done creating the card, give it to someone. . . just because. . .

Thanks is for my neighbors who took care of Seamus and brought us homemade Chicken Pot Pie upon my release from the hospital. Thanks goes out to Mike & Brenda Williams for their wonderful kindness and their delicious pot pie!

More playing with punches...

My first and only creation since surgery. As you can see it didn't require too much brain power, energy or supplies to create this little cutie. The dp is from Stampin' Up! Deck the Halls collection. The sentiment is from Artistic Etchings stamp set which is also from Stampin' Up! I simply punched eight ovals and glued them by 2s to make the hearts. Then I adhered them to my Whisper White cardstock with dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Where's the line to see Jesus?

A dear friend sent this link to me in e-mail. Both my hubs and I found the words to this song so profound we cried. I was compelled to share it with you all. Below the video is the story behind the song, revealing the only REAL and TRUE meaning of Christmas. Merry Christmas to us all and may God bless us every one! NOTE*** This will remain up top until the Epiphany on January 6, 2011. Thanks for scrolling down to see newer posts.

ABOUT THE SONG:
While at the mall a couple of years ago, my then four year old nephew, Spencer, saw kids lined up to see Santa Claus. Having been taught as a toddler that Christmas is the holiday that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, he asked his mom, "where's the line to see Jesus"? My sister mentioned this to my dad, who immediately became inspired and jotted words down to a song in just a few minutes. After putting music to the words, and doing a quick recording at home, he received a great response from friends. He sent the song off to Nashville without much response, except for a Christian song writer who suggested adding a bridge at the end of the first chorus. My dad then asked if I wanted to record the song to see what we could do with it. I listened to the song, made a few changes to the words to make it flow better, and we headed to Shock City Studios. It was at the studio where Chris, owner and producer, rewrote the 2nd verse and part of the chorus... with goosebumps and emotions high, we were all hopeful and felt like we had something special. The demo was recorded in just under 2 hours and sent off again to Nashville... still no response. Then 2 weeks before Christmas last year, my cousins Greg and Robbie decided to do a video to see what we could accomplish on YouTube. The first day we had 3000 hits and it soared from there. We received e-mails, phone calls, Facebook messages from people all over asking for the music, CD's, iTunes, anything... we had nothin'. After a couple of meetings with Chris following the amazing response, we got serious. We headed back into the studio this past spring... this time with guitars, drums, bass, pianos, choirs... the real deal.... and here we are today. Getting iTunes set up, a website put together, and loving that thousands upon thousands of Christians have come together... remembering the true meaning of Christmas. Out of the mouths of babes come profound truths that many adults can not understand. Hopefully Spencer's observation will cause people all over to reflect on the love of Jesus, and that one day we will all stand in line to see Him. We are most thankful to our Heavenly Father to have this chance to share our music with you. Merry Christmas everyone.

I think I'm on a roll!!!

Another magazine inspired creation. So simple, so pretty! Stamp you sentiment FIRST!
Then just punch ovals from 4 pastel colors of cardstock; Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Bashful Blue and Almost Amethyst and emboss with various embossing folders. Layer each color two yellow in the back one centered on top; follow this procedure for each color. Add some twine to matching buttons and I adhered my with my Tombow glue.
Easy, peasy, lemon, squeezy!

More fun with PUNCHES!!!

Who says you have to always center your punches? Sometimes, just sometimes offset is prettier!
I had this Damask sticker lying around and I had already adhered it to the basic black cardstock. So I decided to dig it out of my stash and create something with it.
Sorry, I can't remember who makes it. BUT if you have some pink ink and a lovely stamp you could probably accomplish this with no trouble.
Back to the punches; the theme of this post...
I used a 2 inch scalloped oval punch (Blushing Bride) and a 2 x 1 3/8 inch oval punch (Whisper White). I placed the oval punched WW at the very top of the scalloped oval.  Then I punched with my slotted punch and ran my ribbon. With the WW oval high like it is, I could stamp my sentiment below.

Get creative with your punches. Remember, nothing is etched in stone somewhere that says, "punches should always be centered". Hope you'll try this.
Have a terrific day!

Think outside of the box!!!! - CTD#123

Ever have an "AHA" moment? Well, that's what happened to me today. Although I have used this tip before with my punches, when this card was in the creative process I had a few "AHA"s. You see it started out as a CASE of a card I saw in a magazine. Then it morphed into what you see here. Often times when I get going in my creative flow, I will have to stop midstream because I don't have a color cardstock or a designer paper to go with what I am working on. This time it was punches. Sometimes I get soooo frustrated because I don't have a die or a punch to fit whatever it is I am working on. Sooo the old cranium looks the situation over and kicks into overdrive. I take a punch and/or die and cut one half of my piece then I flip that piece around, carely lining things up and cut again. Below you can see the products I used. Next to it you can read how and where I used each product.

1. I used the die to cut the Always Artichoke matte for my accent piece (pink floral). Then I used the same die to cut the pink accent piece.
2. I used the punch on the left and cut my sentiment but it was too large for my pink matte. So I used the punch on the far right to cut the rounded edges on my sentiment.
3. I punched my solid pink matte for my sentiment with the yellow punch in the top middle.
Below is a close up of my sentiment.
Now, next time you run into this problem you'll more easily be able to solve it. I HOPE! :O)

This card was created using the color combo for ColorThrowDown#123 - This week Kristin threw Always, Artichoke, Baja Breeze and Cameo Coral at us. She used a sweater vest as her inspiration. Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it!
My colors may not be exact but they are pretty darn close. Give the challenge a try! I know you'll enjoy working with this color palette and try to "think outside the box" with your punches and dies.

just a note - ICS96 & PPC-CC

Ok, you may recognize this lovely little birdie. I think it's my new favorite stamp. Wings of Friendship is a RETIRED Stampin' Up! set. I stamped in Early Espresso and heat embossed. Then I used my ink pads in Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, and Always Artichoke with my aqua painter to color the image. I stamped the single flower from the same set in Only Orange then colored with the Tangerine Tango. The sheet music dp as is the flourish dp in the back. The ribbon dp is the flip side of the sheet music. I had some little punched tags and I stamped just a note from the All Year Cheer III set, then I distressed it with some Early Espresso ink.
This card was created using the color combo from Picture Perfect Creations - Color Combo#44 - Tempting Turquoise, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip (didn't have any so I used Early Espresso instead), and Tangerine Tango. It was designed using Inspirational Card Sketch#96. Both were interesting challenges for me. The colors, at first didn't look like they would play well together. Guess I was wrong. The sketch presented some problems when it came to punching the Acanthus Leaf border. But I think I worked it all out.

Winter Friendship Stocking - CCC5

Winter - Your friendship means the world to me. - Christmas Card Challenge #5  Guess what!? I totally forgot to do some embossing. So I guess I'll have to try this again tomorrow and do one with some embossing on it. Anywhooo - This card was created using Bashful Blue, Kraft, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Pacific Point cardstock from Stampin' Up!
I drew and cut out the stocking on a piece of scrap cardstock. Then I temporarily adhered it to a 12 x 6 inch piece of Bashful Blue and cut around it. The finished stocking will fit in a 4.25 x 5.5 inch envelope. I cut little heal and toe stitch lines of the Kraft and adhered them. I used a couple of border punches on the blue and kraft cardstock. I punched the owls with the Two Step Owl Extra Large punch (#118074 $16.95) using the Pacific Point and Kraft cs as well as 2 hearts punched in Cherry Cobbler. The sentiment and flourishes were stamped with Crumb Cake using the (#114308 this was a Level 2 hostess set in the 2009-2010 catalog). I just love the little owls and made their googley eyes so they were looking at each other. :O)

Happy New Baby - Crazy 4 Challenges #68 - Celebrate Something! = My niece is expecting her first child in April, a boy, Jackson Walter. I made this card. I had to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig to put the birdie in the stroller as they are two separate stamps from the same Stampin' Up! set # 113500 Fun & Fast Notes. I matted with some Early Espresso cs. Added 2 buttons tied together with twine. DONE!!!
