A word of encouragment - CSWZNJuly2010

CardSketchesWithZacksNana - July 2010 sketch and my example.
I made my card in a tri-fold format. I used my Top Note die in my Cuttlebug to make the flap on the left front. Cardstock is from Bazzill and dp is from Basic Grey and DCWV. The candy jar is one of Zack'sNana's digital image. I colored with Spica and silver roller gel pens. Brad is from Kaiser. The sentiment is also one made up by me. If you'd like a challenge every month and enjoy swapping your creations then beat a path over to my cardgroup on yahoo and sign up! My friend Trish Davey also creates Sunday Sketches just for fun.

Hi! - CandCC01 & WSC06232010

Hi! I love you for who you are. This card was created for 2 challenges - Claudia & Company's 1st challenge using their sketch and My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club's challenge to use cork or felt on your project (I matted my image on deep red felt). I stsmped Ella twice; once on dp and once on white cardstock. Then I paper pieced her dress and her hair bow. I used the same paper to make a tropical looking flower (dp is a RAK). Ella is colored with American Crafts Stamp markers and Close To My Heart markers ( can you see I painted her toe nails a deep red?!). The dp is from Basic Grey. Ribbon is from May Arts and the brad is from Kaiser.
Hope you enjoyed peeping at this one! It was a joy to create!!!

thinking of you - ICS72 & CTD99

thinking of you - Inspirational Card Sketches #72 and Color Throw Down #99 - cream, chocolate and turquoise. These colors really worked well with this sketch and each other. I started with a base of cream and added turquoise and chocolate mattes. I didn't have any dp with these colors so I made my own by cutting strips of chocolate, turquoise and cream. I adhered them to the chocolate cs with my Elmer's Glue Stick. I used some ribbon over cs stock as one of the elements of the sketch.
I used my aqua painter and my tempting turquoise to paint the hat and the water in my image. The image is from Stampin' Up! summer by the sea and the sentiment is also Stampin' Up! always in my thoughts. Ribbon and stick pin are from CupCardsToGo kits.
The Inspirational Card Sketch is sponsored by Debra ICSDT  this week challenge with this yummy candy below, it includes:
26 sheets of 6"x6" paper
30 ribbon roses
1 pack doodlebugs clear stamps
Thank you so much Debra.

Hoppy Hello - DDCC

Hoppy Hello - Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge theme is Summertime! This little froggie is a Daisy Doodles digital image (RIBBIT) and I colored him using American Crafts STAMP Markers and Copics. I printed the image twice and colored his body first. Then I cut around his head and applied on top of the base image using foam adhesives. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday. The metal embellishment is from Making Memories.
I tore pieces of white cardstock and used my SU distressing tool to roll the tops. The too are attached with foam adhesives as it the grass at the bottom for more of a 3D effect.

Embossing with the Cuttlebug & Tim Holtz GrungeBoard

As some of you may know already, I post the challenges on PCP Cuttlebug-ers. Tonight I was scouring the web looking for some new techniques that we could play with in the group. I stumbled across a technique at

Indigo Inklings that I just had to try. However, I did not have all the elements she used to create her card. So, as we crafters do, I set out to create my own. I used Tim Holtz grungeboard. Pretty much in the same manner as I did for my version of Beate's wrist band. I cut it with my scissors to a desired shape. Then using my sandwich of A plate, C plate, a piece of cardstock shim, my card, the embossing folder and the TH grungeboard. Below are some photos of how I did it. The finished card is a white version. I hope you enjoy. And if you try this, please come back and leave me a comment so I can visit your blog and see what lovely thing you have created.
the card in the sandwich
the cardstock shim on top
card after it was run through the Cuttlebug
same technique using with cardstock
I used my Scor Pal to score for placement of my rub on sentiment.

Watermelon - No! --- CSCC85

Watermelon - No! Cake!!! - Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #85 - State Fair - pennant. Ok I 'fudged' this one a bit. I made cake. Watermelon cake in the shape of a pennant! I hope it qualifies. If not, well... let me eat cake!!! :O)
I love this movie! State Fair is such a fun, charming musical! And dare I say it? Pat Boone and Bobby Darrin in the 1962 version were pretty darn HAWT! Ann Margaret was such a beauty too! Of course with this challenge we are featuring the 1945 version. STILL, a winner in my book. If you haven't seen this movie, shame on you! But not to worry, grab the DVD, pop some corn, or make a cake and grab the kiddoes and the hubs and gather round the boob tube and take a break from the heat with some good old fashion family time and an excellent movie!
DEETS on my CAKE:
I used one layer of white cake mix adding a small box of instant pudding to the mix. Then followed the directions on the box for the batter. I baked at 325 degrees in a dark pan. When my cake was totally cool, I cut the layer in half. Then I the half into 3 equal sized wedges. I layered one on top of the other using Cream Cheese frosting in between the layers. I then mixed green food color into some of the white frosting to make my green for the rind. spatula-d it on. Then I mixed some red into the more white frosting and make the edible part of the watermelon. My seeds are chocolate covered raisins. Of course this is a wedge of watermelon and everyone knows if you look down onto a piece of watermelon sliced like this, it has that pennant shape. Ok, I am off to have my cake and eat it too!

HAPPINESS - PCPCUTTLEBUG76

HAPPINESS - PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS Challenge #76 - double embossing. Hey yall! I have a pretty easy challenge for yall again this week. I have double embossed with the second embossing on an angle. I ran my cardstock through my bug in the Fleur De Lis eb with about an inch of the cardstock and folder hanging off the B plate at the bottom. I stopped cranking when I reached the end of the lower left hand corner of the folder. I removed the cardstock from that folder and placed one of the floral borders on the cardstock at the same angle. When I removed the cardstock from the folder I trimmed the very bottom portions of the design to remove the negative areas of cardstock.
Gosh I hope you can understand this description. My mushroom is one of my own digis and if you'd like to play with it you can purchase it through my etsy shop. I colored it with Paint Shop Pro. My popsicle stick is from a CupCardsToGo as are my flowers, ribbon, and brads. The yellow flower was white. I pounced some SU summer sun on both the front and the back of the flower. Then using a flower branch from SU set Fresh Cuts and my ruby red pad I stamped the branches on the now yellow flower. The HAPPINESS stamp is from a Card Kit Of The Month kit and I stamped it onto the stick and added some embossing powder and heat embossed it.

from the heart, thank you - CWC009

simply said from the heart, thank you - CAS - tastic Wednesday Challenge #009 - colors blue, yellow and neutral. My cardstock is Bazzill circle embossed testure. The neutral dp is from Sassafras, I loved the scalloped edging but it was on the wrong side for my purpose. So I cut the dp to fit my card with and then I scored along the edge of the scallops and folded it backwards so it showed on the right side for me. I tucked my satin ribbon under the scalloped flap and adhered it down. I added the three blue pearls from Zva. My image is from Stampin' Up! the Simply Said collection. I used my aqua painter and colored the flowers with Night of Navy and Summer Sun.

Isaiah 61:3 - MTSC79

Isaiah 61:3 Give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, a garment of praise, for the spirit of heaviness. Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #79.
Cardstock is from Basic Grey All Natural collection. I love the colors in this collection and they work so well for a male card as well as for this sympathy card. The sentiment is from Verve. I stamped with Night of Navy. Then while the cardstock was still in the die I sponged some mellow moss around the edge. That green was too bright for the rest of the color palette so I sponged some close to cocoa on top. The dp is matted on a nice rice charcoal cardstock from American Crafts.

Howdy - Color Throw Down #98; blush blossom (pale pink), chocolate chip, and mellow moss. The horses are one stamp I repeated to get 3. That stamp is from Stampin' Up! the WANTED collection. The sentiment is a Deadbeat stamp. The dust is also a stamp from Stampin' Up! the itty bitty backgrounds. I added some smudging to make it look a little more like the dust was flying. I added a brad and button and Voila! Easy, peasy, lemon squeazy!
I also entered this card in the Everybody Art Challenge #96, where we have to use green and pink.

for you - Stampin' Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge #35 - tempting turquoise, cameo coral, green galore, garden green and whisper white. Well, Stacey has picked some yummy colors for us this week! These really were fun for me because I LOVE green! My flowers were stamped and embossed, then I colored them with my Copics. I did not have one of the greens in cardstock so I just rubbed my ink pad on whisper white cs and used that little piece to matte my sentiment. Wedding Favor or Blessings Box - CSCC84

Wedding Favor or Blessing Box - Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #84 use some blue - Father of the Bride. This Father of the Bride is the Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Martin Short, Kimberly Williams Paisley version. My inspiration from the movie was Martin Short as Franck Eggelhoffer at his weddign planning studio. He sits the bride and her parents down and hands them a book of cake designs. He opens the book and says, "This is caak, is a varee popoolar caak."
I think these would be perfect take aways for a wedding shower or the wedding reception. They consist of an 8 1/2 by 11 inch piece of double sided cardstock or dp. You score & fold the long side at 2 1/2 and 6 inches. Then you turn 1/4 turn and score and fold at 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 inches ( video tutorial by Angie). I used a little bull nose clip to hold my box shut while I tied on my ribbon. My image is a ZacksNana's Creative Imagination original digi. It's colored with Copics. If you'd like one just drop me an e-mail and I get one right to you.

So have a little piece of 'caak' and get creative.

Lily - If friends were flowers, I'd pick you! TMS50

This is Lily from SoftPencil Designs. Isn't she just, ummm, yummy! :O)
I certainly think so! I used Lily and a sentiment from a RAK to create this double sided stair step card. This was a new type of card design for me and I really enjoyed the creating of it. It came together in about 45 minutes. But I have to confess, Lily was already printed out and waiting for ink.
I used Bazzill and American Crafts cardstock for my card. I also used a bit of Basic Grey dp. The pink pearls are from Zva and the pink flowers were a RAK. Lily was colored using Copics. She's a joy to color as this image took only 7 colors! That includes the shading colors.

THIS CARD WAS CREATED FOR AND ENTERED IN THE TUESDAY MORNING SKETCHES CHALLENGE #50.
Now if you want to make this double sided stair step card Dawn has a terrific video tutorial HERE. And if you simply can't resist LILY, you can purchase her from SoftPencil HERE.
AND if you want to join the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches you can go HERE.

In Order to Eliminate Spamming in My Comments

In Order to Eliminate Spamming in My Comments _ So Sorry but I will have to go back to those darn pesky verification codes when you comment. Seems like every day I am getting 3 or 4 Spammers posting comments to my blog to go try out some Canadian drugs or help someone in a foreign country collect on some US funds. I am sure you all know what I am talking about. Please don't let the verification coding prevent YOU from posting a comment if you like what I do.
I promise as soon as the SPAMMERS get tired of them and stop trying to post comments I will remove the verification code thing.

Thanks & T%dles Peeps,
