What a day!!!

Today was Mike's and my 33rd anniversary! What a day! He was supposed to take Zackary to the Train Museum. But low and behold the Train Museum closes for Christmas through the New Year. So he took him to Reed Elementary to play on his Scooter his mom gave him for Christmas. When they got back we went to Gattitown in Frisco! Oh it's been a long time since I was able to get out and walk and play with my children and my grandson and Mike. It was soooo much fun! :O)
After we stuffed ourselves with salad and pizza we went to the games room and we all had a turn at playing a game with Zackary and/or riding a ride. I loved the looks Mike was flashing Zack on the bumper cars!!! We won about 5 prizes and then it was about 6:15 p.m. and time to head out. We drove to McKinney and went to the Cinemark and watched Tangled in 3D! Such a cute movie and ok, it was a little romantic. :O)

When we got home Zack and I created this card. My friend Deb gave me some beautiful retired SU papers and we played with them and some SU cardstock, punches and stamps! Hope you like it. It's Zack's 1st OFFICIAL card creation!

Zack punched to oval and the tag. He colored the bird and cage. He picked the ribbons and where to put them. He ran the cardstock through the machine to emboss the floral pattern. I stamped Happy Easter and he is writing a sentiment inside and I had to draw a little boy hunting Easter eggs. He's going to give this card to his mom for Easter. (well probably before that). Heeheeheee
He and his mom are heading back home to College Station on Friday. But he's been here since Christmas might and we've had a total ball!!!

Follow your heart - CPS96

CardPatterns Sketch#96 - follow your heart. Just having some fun with retired dps from Stampin' Up! and some fun stamps. To get the pretty lacey frame around my heart I used a border punch and then I cut a slit between the flowers and crimped and taped the paper around the edges.

Home for Christmas - CCC2011-3 Travel

This week the Christmas Card Challenge#3 is holiday travel. Although the sentiment says, "I'll be home for Christmas" it's only partially true. Well, I will be at my physical home, but our family won't be making the trek to Louisiana to be with my parents for Christmas and my grandson, Zack will be spending this Chirstmas with his dad. So we won't have him with us until Dec. 26th. So my {heart} will be away from home this Christmas.
This is two of Ward's digis clipped together to make one image. I love this VW bug and the little lady all dressed up for the holidays just seemed to work together perfectly. I added the Cherry Cobbler cs embossed in the Elegant Lines ef. The sentiment is computer generated by me. Image is colored with Stampin' Up! markers and some glitter pens as well as a little Signo White Gel to add some highlights.

Hello my friend - TSTC038

Hello my friend - Twisted Sketches Twisted Cards #038. This week's twist is "Chipboard" - any how, any way!
So I used my chipboard flower, swirlies and tag. The sentiment is a Stampin' Up! stamp from Perfect Punches set #120516. I wrote in the word Hello with my SU Real Red and Basic Black markers. The stamp was inked with Cherry Cobbler. I roughed up the surface of the tag with my emory board and then used my SU Embossing Buddy to be sure the ink would stay on. I added a lovely beaded brad and some yellow ribbon and it was D-O-N-E! :O)

I just found Twisted Sketches today on my fellow Texan friend Stephanie Castro's blog. Steph got me the gig as the post-er for PCP Cuttlebug-ers challenges. She on dt at the Christmas Card Challenges and I've been know to play along with Unscripted Sketches of which Steph is on yet another dt. She's a very talented crafty lady!

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS Challenge #96 lace & pearls

Since I was supposed to have surgery this past week, the ladies who normally play along with my PCPCuttlebug-ers challenges have been taking turns posting new challenges. This past Sunday Jeanette Hedben created the challenge - use lace and pearls. If you'd like to play along just click HERE.

Here's mine! I used the Ornamental Iron ef (my lace) and some dps from Stampin' Up! run through the bug with the Top Note die. These are very CAS. I had to come up with a quick gift for my grandson, Zack's teacher for Christmas. I made a total of 8 cards. I cut the pieces of dp in half after I ran them through with the Top Note. I didn't have purple and red pearls so I used rhinestones. But I used copper on the orange and pink on the pink.
Great challenge Jeanette.

If you'd like to make some of these please e-mail me and I will send you a supply list and you can shop my Stampin' Up! site for the products used.
These were created in a Stampin' Up! class I attended last week.

Strictly Ornamental - CASED from Suzonne Sterling of Urban Comfort

I CASED this card from Suzonne Sterling of Urban Comfort. Suzonne is a very talented young mother who writes and creates in New Orleans, LA. Suzonne has inspired me in so many ways with soo many of her recipes, crafts and decorating ideas. Right now she is featuring 3 easy scrap Christmas cards she made using ideas she gathered from one of the 25 ideas featured in the December issue of Family Circle. She's also showcasing some beautiful silver holiday decorations on her BLOG. This card couldn't get more simple - I punched a cirlce 2 5/6" in diameter. Then I punched a small square and cut one side with my deckled scissors. I added a sweet sentiment sticker and some silver twine with red rhinestones and VOILA!

Joy - CCC2011#1

Joy to the World, the Lord has come!!! - Christmas Card Challenges 2011 #1 - Monochromatic. I tried, honestly I did. But there was just too many distractions to keep it mono. I got pretty darned close though, I think. My card is made up of reds, pinks and white with some silver thrown in for glitz-y measure!
Where to begin with the deets???
Cardstock - Stampin' Up! Cherry Cobbler, Blushing Bride, Whisper White
DP - Stampin' Up! paper pack 6 X 6 In Colors
Stamps - Stampin' Up! Joy is from Delightful Decorations (stamp set)

I used the Top Note die to cut the Cherry Cobbler cardstock into a frame for my DPs. I used three patterns in the pink set to create the piece to go inside the frame (you can't see them all but there are 3). Then I punched the Acanthus leaf in Cherry Cobbler and Blushing Bride to frame my image and I wove the leaves together to give it that laced together effect. I colored the image and added some ribbon and silver rhinestones. Voila!

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel! - weeM34

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

O come, O come, Emmanuel,

And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.

Refrain
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel

O come, Thou Wisdom from on high,
Who orderest all things mightily;
To us the path of knowledge show,
And teach us in her ways to go.

Refrain

O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny;
From depths of hell Thy people save,
And give them victory over the grave.

Refrain

O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death’s dark shadows put to flight.

Refrain

O come, Thou Key of David, come,
And open wide our heavenly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.

Refrain

O come, O come, great Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes on Sinai’s height
In ancient times once gave the law
In cloud and majesty and awe.

Refrain

O come, Thou Root of Jesse’s tree,
An ensign of Thy people be;
Before Thee rulers silent fall;
All peoples on Thy mercy call.

Refrain

O come, Desire of nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind;
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease,
And be Thyself our King of Peace.

Refrain

This is my "NEW" favorite Christmas song, esp. when sung by Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland. I only wish she'd have done the entire song. She has pared it down to only a couple of verses. Still, I think it is one of her best performances. You can listen and watch the video HERE.

Poinsettia - C4C66

Poinsettia - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Crazy4Challenges #66 using Cindy's sketch.
Ok I pulled out a lot of scraps and stuff from my stash. Poinsettia stamp is one from a couple years ago (it is not SU). The dp is a little scrap from a set I bought last year or maybe longer. The card came in a kit about a year ago. It actually is a tri-fold card with an oval window. I simply adhered one solid side to the back of the oval and made that my card face. Then with my Top Note die I cut the two pieces of dp and my Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Added some of the yummy Tensil Trim #120994, for the ribbon effect. It's a little difficult to see (aged look), but I stamped "Blessed" sentiment from Grateful Greetings set #116511 in bashful blue on my Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I stamped the poinsettias in Cherry Cobbler #119669 then I stamped the overlay in Bashful Blue #105209 and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I used the Round Tab Extra Large punch #119864 to attach my sentiment from Grateful Greetings #116511. This one may not sound like it but it is very CAS. If you're interested in any of the Stampin' Up! products used in my creations you can shop with my HERE. Thanks!!!

Merry Christmas - TESC134 - I'm late....

Yeah I am late again. But the sketch from Taylored Expressions caught my eye and I wanted to try stamping this beautiful bird and branch from Stampin' Up! collection Always #113620. Their are 11 stamps in the set and it sells for $28.95. I love this stamp set and have used it for a variety of card themes. But I just love the little bird in REAL RED and the branch in OLD OLIVE. I stamped the bird twice and cut one out and popped it up on top of the other one. Then I stamped the branch so it looks like the bird is perched on it. I also stamped with branch randomly on Whisper White for the background. Cardstock is REAL RED, WHISPER WHITE and OLD OLIVE. Ink is REAL RED and OLD OLIVE.

Wishing you warmth on a cold day - KJHC

Wam Wishes - Kraft Journal Holiday Challenge.
         The Challenge Details -
Create a holiday inspired project, card, tag, layout or altered art featuring the use of kraft cardstock. Enter as many times as you like with as many projects as you wish, just make sure they feature kraft cardstock. Every project you enter gives you more chances to win! Deadline to enter --- December 18, 2010 at 6:00 AM Eastern Time.

My creation features kraft cardstock and some dp from Stampin' Up! Deck the Halls Collection. It's a gift for my grandson, Zackary's teacher.The can can be new and filled with coffee or you can make a hot cocoa mix and place inside. Or you can simply fill the tin with candy (maybe they could be peppermint balls the teacher can give out as rewards to the children for good behavior). It doesn't matter what you place inside, it's the thougth that counts.
I stamped a little coffee mug and some holly and berries along with a few snowflakes. I think the sentiment really works for this type of gift.
