Deck the Halls Paper Tree - weeM29

My Paper Tree was created using Stampin' Up! decorative papers - Deck the Halls. It was created for the Wee Memories Challenge #29 - Free For All!
The cardstock base is SU Real Red. The red background dp and the branches of my tree are all from the SU Deck the Halls collection. You may be able to see, I punched the small ovals out with the punch on the left (samples on the bottom right folded in half). After I folded the ovals in half I used my 2 - Way Glue and glued the ends together. Then I started at the top with one and then 3.75" below that I started the bottom branches. The is no rhyme or reason to my placement. If you try this don't worry, no 2 trees look exactly alike in nature either. My tree is comprised of 42 ovals folded in half. You can see when I got to the second row from the very top I cut the ovals to resemble the upsweep of a tree. My trunk is a .75" piece of brown grosgrain ribbon. I added a piece of 1/8" wide Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon to the bottom portion of my card. I ramdomly placed the tiny perals.
I hope you like my little Tree.

Birthday - C4C61

All things Stampin' Up! - dp, cs, stamps.
This card is for the Crazy4Challenges challenge this week #61. We had to use Silke's sketch. I don't usually well with equal sized pieced patterns. But this one didn't give me a headache so I guess I was good to go.
I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

FYI, you may have noticed the Scavenger Hunt is down. I removed it for lack of interest. But secretly I've been waiting for my counter to get to 30,000 and the person who posted a comment as my 30,000th visitor is Peggy Toole!!!  Peggy will be getting a little surprise in the mail in a couple of weeks (takes forever to get mail across the border into Canada). :O)
I'd like to Thank EVERYONE who visits my blog, and esp. those of you who visit and post comments. Your feed back is appreciated more than you could possibly know. Thanks and Congrats to Peggy!  THIS WOULD BE AN OOPS! I rolled over 29,000. But that's alright Peggy will still get her goodies! :O) Boy, getting old is h e double hockey sticks!

Jazzy's Paper Designs Challenge #15

This is the CD cover I used as my inspiration piece.

Just For You! _ Jazzy's Paper Designs Challenge #15. This week Jazzy said we could go to bluenote.com and pick a CD. I chose Norah Jones - It's Not Too Late. I loved the color combo and the really graphic design of her dress. Hope I did a good job of represent'n .
Bio - (born Geethali Norah Jones Shankar; March 30, 1979) is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, keyboardist, guitarist, and actress. In 2002, she launched her solo music career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album Come Away With Me, which was certified a diamond album in 2002, selling over 20 million copies. The record earned Jones five Grammy Awards, including the Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist. Her subsequent studio albums, Feels like Home, released in 2004, Not Too Late, released in 2007 and her 2009 release The Fall, all gained Platinum status after selling over a million copies and were generally well received by critics. Warm Winter Wishes - CCEE1043

Warm Winter Wishes - Cheers & Challenges Eclectic Ensemble Challenge #1043 - CAS

At first sight you may think, This is not clean and simple. Well, it really is!!!
I will define my steps.
1. Whisper White cardstock cut to 4 x 5" and brayered with SU Marina Mist.
2. Punch 6 circles in varying sizes out of post it notes on the end where the adhesives are located.
3. Place the 6 circles in snow people patterns.
4. Tear a scrap piece of paper to use as a matte.
5. Brayer SU Ballet Blue then Night of Navy over the entire piece.
6. Flip the scrap around to cover the top portion of your piece.
7. Brayer Night of Navy on the bottom.
8. Move the scrap around and brayer in different spots SU Marina Mist.
9. Remove circles and scrap.
10. Punch tiny holes for eyes, and buttons out of scrap paper. Dauber SU Early Espresso.
11. Cut tiny carrots out of scrap paper and sponge them in place with SU Pumpkin Pie.
12. Draw stick arms with SU Early Espresso marker.
13. Add details to snowpeople with white Signo Gel pen.
14. Sponge Night of Navy all around edges of cardstock.
!5. Punch corner mattes and assemble with silver brads.

PaperCraft Star #19. The challenge was to use their inspiration photo. I stamped the swirling leaves pattern first in SU Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie. Then I stamped the three leaves each in one of the three colors. Then I added those little swirlie chipboard pieces and colored them with SU markers.
I felt the inspiration piece screamed fall. So I ran with that. I was trying to follow the layout in the inspiration piece with my layout and placement of my stamped images. I would have liked to add some wire spirals but I could not find my craft wire.

Ring in the New Year! - 4CCC9

This card was created for this weeks 4CraftyChicksChallenge#9 - Roll with the punches! I punched 1/2" circles on all four corners of very vanilla cs. Then I matted that with some Cherry Cobbler. Then I matted that with some of the decorative papers from the Deck the Halls collection. The bells are also from that paper collection and they have been paper pieced and raised on dimensionals. I punched the three flowers out of the Cherry Cobbler cs and the rest of the petals were punched from either side of the decorative paper. I added the baubles at the end because I felt those circle holes needed a little something. I sponged Crumb Cake ink all arounf the edges to age my card.
All elements Stampin' Up! except the sentiment, baubles and embossing powder.
If you have any questions about any of the products I've used on this card, just leave me a comment and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. But even if you have no questions, just tell me what you think. Feedback is my nourishment to my creativity! :O) Have a Great Day!

thankful thoughts of you - CTD116

Another card using the ColorThrowDown combo! Red Riding Hood Red, hmm I don't have my cardstock labeled so I am hoping this is Red Riding Hood Red or a close facsimili thereof. :O)
At first I kept saying, I really don't think these colors go together. But after I started playing with them, I realized, I could, as Tim Gunn says, "Make it work!" And I think I did! :O)
This card is very simply done and you could crank out several of these at one sitting if you were of a mind to. The RRR cardstock is cut 5 x 5" square. It's run through with an embossing folder. I have several Stampin' Up! ef on order. Maybe next week I can show them off. But for now I used another brand. You'll have to run it through once and then take it out, move the ef over a little (trying to line up the pattern) and put it back through again.
The Certainly Celery cs is 3.5 x 3.5" square. The very vanilla cs is 3 3/8" square.

After all is said and done, I may add a 5.25" border of very vanilla on the back as a matte. It looks like it needs that extra border to set off the RRR.

What I learned today...

Hi There!
Well, it was Stampin' Up! Holiday Hoopla & Downline Metting tonight at my up line Sharon Armstrong's house. Dee Yates taught us how to color with our blender pens and markers! This was sooo much fun! I didn't even finish my bag at the meeting. I took it home and I finished literally minutes ago.

What Dee told us: She uses Staz-On inks for stamping images when using a blender brush because Staz-On won't bleed when you start to color the image. She also taught us that when using a blender you can vary the darkness and lightness of the ink; example in small photo, I went darker on some of the berries and lighter on others. Makes them look a little more realistic.
When you begin to stamp your paper sack, you will want to add a piece of cardboard or chipboard inside the bag, just incase the ink bleeds through to the otherside. I didn't have any problems with that.
Dee used Early Espresso to stamp the images. Then she colored the berries and poinsettias with Cherry Cobbler. The leaves she colored with Always Artichoke (I didn't have Always Artichoke, so I "blended with Glorious Green and Old Olive) on my pine boughs and my holly leaves. The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.
I think I will stuff this little bag with goodies for my grandson Zackary's teacher Ms. Pate for her Christmas pressie.
Thanks DEE! And Thanks Sharon! It was a fun evening!!!

Season's Greetings - MTSC97

Season's Greetings - Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #97. This is a very bice sketch. Quite fun to work with. I think I might have to use it again to make more Christmas cards. you may notice I have moved on from Halloween to Christmas without stopping for Thanksgiving. :O)
Sorry, although Fall/Autumn is my favorite season, I very quickly tire of Halloween. I could move right along to Thanksgiving but for some reason I don't send very many Thanksgiving cards. I do however sent a butt load of Christmas cards, somewhere around 75, I think.
I attended another Stampin' Up! card making class tonight. No Christmas cards though. We did make beautiful navy and white just because cards, and some really cute marina mist, chocolate chip and white cards, and some Grateful bookmark cards in pear pizzaz, cajun craze, more mustard and early espresso. For the last card which was wish Big we used river rock, early espresso, peach parfait, concord crush and pear pizzaz. Too much fun!
I don't have picture of them yet, but when I do I will post them in their own post with the title Stampin' Up! Card Class - Monday.

Happy Chanukah - 4CCC8

Happy Chanukah - 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #8 - use their sketch. I used the last of my Chanukah stickers on this. But this Blueberry Crisp doubled sided dp from Stampin' Up! really accents this image. I added some grey cardstock with some shiney blue cs and the printed ribbon just brought it all together. To make the ribbin in the center I cut a piece of the dp 1/8 x 6". Then I cut another piece approx. 2" wide and punched my decorative border. Then I layered the border piece behind the white ribbon and the narrow 1/8" wide piece on top. I punched two little squares of the dp and flanked them either side of my menorrah.

Merry Christmas - CCC47

Hi There:
This card was created using my friend, Trish's sketch for my sketch group on Yahoo. I created this card for the challenge at Christmas Card Challenges Week #47. The challenge of course was to make a Christmas card, but somewhere on the card we had to use flower(s).
I mixed some older Stampin' Up! products with some newer ones. I think I did a pretty good job of following Trish's sketch.

The challenge this week it to use a tag on your Christmas themed cards. I stamped my image on a piece of whisper white cardstock and cut with a tag die. Then I placed a piece of cherry cobbler cardstock on two dies and cut a frame.

I added silver gel pen to the M & C. Then I went over all the letters with a glaze pen. I tea stained the edges of the whisper white matte.

Merry Christmas - FS125

Merry Christmas - Friday Sketchers Challenge #125. I looked at the sketch and thought, NO WAY! Then I remembered the dp I used on my Card House and thought, I have enough scraps leftover from that project to make this sketch into a beautiful card. Was I wrong? :O)
My base cardstock is Cherry Cobbler and the first layer of dp is from Stampin' Up! I used some LOC stencils to add that "little something extra". Then I layered all the dp elements for the sketch. The tag is from the same dp collection and I stamped an LOC reindeer in Cherry Cobbler on it. The sentiment is also from the dp collection.
I die cut the Top Note die into a piece of swirlie white. Then I cut two pieces off the ends and matted them behind the tag.

How I spent my afternoon...

This is how I spent my afternoon...
I was waiting for my friend Sue to show up. She's just had a NEW grandbaby, Jaxston Cooper Pierson. Well, she said she'd get here before 4 p.m. BUT she got hung up at the hospital. I can't say I blame her. But when I realized she wasn't coming I started working on this little project. This is a card house. You'll see in the second photo that you put dividers inside and then you can store cards in it. I used this cardstock with a wintry theme but it really looks like it could just sit out year round. Don't you think???

Here's the inside view, showing you the dividers for your cards. I thought this would be a cute way to save your incoming Christmas cards. Or you could even store extra blank cards for those last minute cards you have to reply to.

All cardstock is dp except the windows and doors (yes, I even added windows and doors to the back, but I forgot to photograph them). They are printed out on white cardstock and then I colored them with markers.

Thanks for looking...

This image is adorable. I used chalks and markers to color. I added some age to Michu's and Ratiny's bandages with chalk. Then I used markers and colored the rest of the image. I cut it out using a label die and then I cut the bottom off at the ground. Then I die cut one label die in SU Basic Grey and cut it in half. Then I layered one half on top of the other. I used SU Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie as mattes. The sentiment is computer generated and created by me.

Always & Cottage Garden

Always & Cottage Garden are Stampin' Up! stamp sets. I received these beautiful sets in my Stampin' Up! shipment today and I just could not wait to get them inky!
Firstly, I wanted to demonstrate to you how easy with just a few Stampin' Up! products you could create these lovely cards. I used Designer Series Paper from the Patterns Stack Brights (#117155). This is a color collection of double sided paper. For my card I used both sides of the designer paper alternating the accents on the two cards.
Secondly, I used two sets of stamps Always (#113620) and Cottage Garden (#117068) . For the card on the left I used the Always set. For the card on the right I used the Cottage Garden set.
Thirdly, I used Stampin' Up! Markers to ink up my stamps for stamping my images and sentiments. The two colors used are Brilliant Blue and Marina Mist.
Fourthly, I added a ribbon from Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla.
So now you see how easy it is to make a card using just a minimum of products and you still can turn out  lovely creations.
