Foxy Reflection ( Doggie Reflection)

Michelle Zindorf (I AM NOT)! But today in midst of a cold/allergy funk she managed to create a stunning little fox reflected in a pond. Above is my 'far from perfect' take on her image. You can see Michelle's FOXY REFLECTION HERE.
Now there are several things wrong with my card - 1) My sky is too dark. Michelle, remember I had that problem in class too. 2) I didn't have a small doggie. Nor did I have one that was an open detailed image like Michelle's fox. 3) My grass and water lines don't match up. I'll just pass that off as a bit of shore line between. :O) 4) My branches... you figure that one out.

All that said, I really do like it! :O)

Smile (Spring theme)- EBAC84

Smile (Spring theme) - Everybody Art Challenge#84 make a spring themed card. Well, when I think of Spring, I think April showers bring May flowers. So I am hoping my little bear will bring on lots of lovely bluebonnets in my neck of the woods this spring! He's from WinkWinkInk and I printed him out in the already colored version (PSSSSST! PSSST! He's FREE for a limited time!).
After I printed him 3 times I cut him into three layers. First I cut the entire image from the background and added some dimensionals on back and layered it on the first image. Then I cut just the body without his boots, legs and pond and layered that on. Below is a side view.
Next I used my CB and nesties and cut 2 tags of one size in orange pp and one in the deckled rectangle in black and one of the larger tags in black. Then it was just a matter of layering and adhering it all together.
I used my Fiskars corner punch on all 4 corners of the pp. Ribbons and chipboard are from a Keep In Touch kit. The green bits (flowers) behind my image are from Bazzill's Just the Edges cardstock strips. I thought they looked a little like froggie prints so I added them.

SoftPencil's Challenges @ PCP

SoftPencil's Challenges @ PaperCraft Planet. I think I may have screwed up on this one. I used a digital image, unfortunately it was not one of SoftPencil's. This is one of a set of free images from CocoaStudioDesigns. Anyway, if Elizabeth tells me it does not qualify for the challenge it would be another option for Stacey's CCCCA23. :O)
SoftPencil challenges us this week to use ribbons and bow. Well, I REALLY love this ribbon. Unfortunately, I only had about 8 inches of it left. So no 'real' bow here. I used a 4.5 inch piece to go across my card. The I punched holes in my image cardstock and ran 1 piece through one side at a time and tied a knot, then I taped it down on the back. Moved across to the other side and did the same thing. So I have 3 little scraps of ribbon on this card. Now my lovely ribbon is all gone. :O(

Hope you like the card I created. Come join SoftPencil's challenge. I'd love to see what you come up with.

Pretty in Pink - SSCCCCA23

Pretty in Pink - Stampin' Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge #23 - pretty in pink, whisper white, basic black and kraft. The flowers are a two sided stamp that was a gift many years ago. When I saw Stacey's challenge I knew I wanted to do flowers. Then the search was on for the right size, style and shape. I stumbled on this stamp way back in the back of my stamp drawer and when I saw it I simply said, "AHA!"
So I stamped it three times on whisper white in Fresco -Vatican Wine. Then I flipped the stamp over and inked up the outline in Encore! Ultimate Metallice Satin Rose. Then I used my Zing glitter embossing powder in pink and heat embossed the outline rose.
I used my newly learned technique of brayer-ing on the whisper white cardstock starting with Color Box Pink Pastel, then Color Box Rouge and finally lightly over the top with Fresco Vatican Wine. The label-esq stamp is from Stampin' Up and I stamped it in Stampabilites Black. My arrows were hand cut.

Piling Up - Belated Happy Birthday - ICS60

Piling up... Belated Happy Birthday - Inspirational Card Sketchs #60. This is a belated birthday card for my brother in law, Big Joe. His birthday was March 13. I am sooo behind and like the card says, things just keep "piling up" on me. :O)
The sentiment on the inside says :
Belated Happy Birthday!
Sorry this is so late but,
things kept piling up on me.

Hope it was a great day anyway!

Cardstock - patterned and plain are from a RAK. The little flourish corners were purchased one line a LONG time ago and I just kept hoarding them. Thought they'd add a little sumpin' sumpin' to this card. My pile of chickies is from Stretch N' Bubbles. I colored the image with my Progresso Koh I Noor woodless color pencils.

Excuse me, Are you Jesus?

Reflection: deets at the bottom of this post... 'Excuse me, Are you Jesus?
A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago . They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner. In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding... ALL BUT ONE !!! He paused, took a deep breath, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned..

He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the terminal floor.

He was glad he did.

The 16 year old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying, tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her, no one stopping and no one to care for her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised; these he set aside in another basket.

When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl, 'Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you okay?'
She nodded through her tears. He continued on with, 'I hope we didn't spoil your day too badly.'

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called out to him, 'Mister.......' He paused and turned to look back into those blind eyes. She continued, 'Are you Jesus?'
He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about in his soul: 'Are you Jesus?'

Do people mistake you for Jesus? That's our Destiny, is it not? To be so much like Jesus that people cannot tell the difference as we live and interact with a world that is blind to His love, life and grace. If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would.

Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church.
It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.

You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked you and me up on a hill called Calvary and paid in full for our damaged fruit.

Please share this... Sometimes we just take things for granted, when we really need to be sharing what we know..

Thanks
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. TOO MANY CHRISTIANS ARE NO LONGER FISHERS OF MEN BUT KEEPERS OF THE AQUARIUM.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reflection - I felt this cross and sentiment went well with the season and the story above.
DEETS: I used my Spellbinders Shapeablilities - Cross Collection to die cut the cross. Then while it was still in the die I embossed the cross. Still in the die I added some ink and some gold glitter embossing powder and heat set. Loved the way it turned out, btw. All solid colored cardstock is Stampin' Up! The pattern cardstock navy/black (DCWV - Mocha paper pad) brown (Basic Grey - Granola paper pad I sponged with some Fresco ink - Tuscan Earth) I matted on top of each other then popped up on dimensionals.
A NEW LOVE AFFAIR.... JUST received this e-mail
A love note from Amber @ AmberInk.com
"My mom just called and we were both like "Isn't Betty great?" We are fans ;)
Thank you so much for your support. It makes me high.
My very favorite part of this "I own my own store" thing, that I'm starting to get the hang of, is seeing what everyone dreams up. It isn't ever something that I could imagine and it's so exciting to see how my art ends and other people's art starts. If you ever get a chance, we LOVE seeing what you make with Amber Ink.
xoxo,
Amber
Because you're brilliant, not patient. "
Piece of Cake! - SSCCCCA21 - With a Treat!
Piece of Cake! Happy Birthday - Stampin' Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge Act21. For Stacey's color challenge the colors are: Always Artichoke, Barely Banana, Certainly Celery & Whisper White. I was going for the tutorial at SCS by Jane but I don't have the dies she used so I just made my own box.
Side view:
Here's the treat!
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
Friend - Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #64.You know, I always try to keep it simple. But sometimes even I get frustrated with myself because my cards look too cluttered. But with this one, I simply didn't care! I love the birdhouses and I layered the bee hive 3D style. I punched the floral border which is a little hard to see. Still, I'm lovin' this card! PP, charm, and cream cs are all from RAKs. The image is from Dottie's World I think. It's been forever since I downloaded it so I am not sure. Brads are from Basic Grey's Granola collection. Orange cabuchon is from JoAnns. Stumpin' Up! Top Note die. The cream cardstock came with this lovely wave cut into it already. In fact, this is 1 of a set of 8.
