SoftPencil - Rainy Cloud

Today at SoftPencil Designs we are featuring the image - Rainy Cloud. It's super duper cute and oh so easy to color. I used markers and my Signo gel pen as well as the Spica tourquoise. I printed the image twice then cut around the clouds to make a matte so I could daub some Sky Blue ink on the bottoms of the clouds. My sentiment was handwritten (as if you couldn't tell by my lopsided writing) and it is written on a piece of cardstock that was punched using the NEW Stampin' Up! Triple Layer Doily Punch. All cardstock, dsp and ribbon are from Stampin' Up! too.
My card is a gate fold and I even decorated the inside! Check out all the other DT creations by clicking on their links in my right side bar under SoftPencil Design Team. Be sure to join us next week when we announce the new images for June!!!

PCPCUTTLEBUG-ERS & COLORTHROWDOWN

Hi There! I know it's been a little while since I posted but I've had a house full! My parents are here, my nephew was here for a week and my daughter and grandson arrived on Friday night. So needless to say, I haven't had any crafting time. But while everyone was out doing their own thing, today I got to do MY OWN THING! :O)
This card was created using the ColorThrowDown Challenge #143 - pink pirouette, so saffron, old olive and a few optional colors. I was able to incorporate them all into my creation. Hope you like it.
This is also my challenge for this week's PCPCuttlebug-ers#114 challenge HERE.

Hanging on a Star - SoftPencil

This week SoftPencil Designs is featuring the image Hanging on a Star. Isn't it too stinkin' cute!
I used my Stampin' Up! Watercolor Crayons to color the image. Sorry my picture is so dark but it is nasty out and I couldn't get a brighter shot. I used Stampin' Up! dsp from the In Colors collection. Also there is some SU Baha Breeze ribbon and cardstock.
Please check out the creations by the rest of the DT. You will find their links in my side bar.

dream - CTD142

ColorThrowDown #142 - basic black, lime green, and basic grey. I adore this color combo! The gals at Color Throw Down were playing with my emotions on this one. Green is my FAVORITE color and the black and the grey just compliment it well. Lime green, yummm-o! I stamped the Stampin' Up! Medallion in Versa Mark on my lime green cardstock. Then I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. It's there it's just very faint and I love that about it. Then I matted the basic grey and the basic black behind it. Added a border punch for the ribbon effect and then stamped my sentiment and punched it out with the Decorative Label punch from Stampin' Up!

JFF - Trish's Sunday Sketch for my group

Sail Away! That's the name of this lovely stamp from Stampin' Up! and every time I look at it an old Christopher Cross song comes to my mind:
It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
Deets:

Graduation Day - TTT/SP

Top TipTuesday challenge this week, we the design team for SoftPencil Designs are using SP images and creating a card with the theme "For the Kids". My card was created for my Goddaughter Britni who is graduating this month. I used Stampin' Up! products to create the Mortar board (gift card holder) and SoftPencil's little girl graduate is free standing. She just pops inside the card.
Above you can see the flap of the Mortar board is closed. To the left it is opened showing you the graduates name card and the pocket for a gift card. It also holds the sentiment and a place to leave a msg. (white cs). Elements added to the card are from Britni's graduation card.
Much simpler but you can see you can make it match your graduate's school colors.

Just a fun photo here of my love, Seamus Bobby McGee.
He's aking me to stop making cards and "puleeeze play wit me!"

Have a terrific day!

"Hello everyone! how are you today? I´m so happy to share with you a new anniversary of Softpencil! yes, May is Softpencil anniversary month and we´re going to celebrate it! but before I´ll tell you a little story...
Softpencil was born as the brand/name of my Etsy shop when I started selling my illustrations online on May 2008. One year later I started designing digital stamps so it became the brand of my new venture. And on May 2010 I had the idea of creating a line of characters and offering them on different products so Softpencil Studios was born and launched on the past March 8!

These three years where amazing for me! I´ve known wonderful people who became my friends from around the world, I´ve developed a new style and created my characters, I´ve learnt about managing my online business and on my personal life... I´ve just bought a new house! for all these things I want to say to every of my customers-friends-fans THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!"

Since it's her anniversary SoftPencil is giving you a chance to win a $10 voucher to the Softpencil shop!

PCP Cuttlebug-ers #112

Hello Again!
Although I post a new challenge every weekend on PaperCraftPlanet Cuttlebug-ers Group, I sometimes forget to post those challenges here on my own blog. Let's face it, I lead a pretty hectic life. But I try and some days that's all I can do. Know what I mean?
So today for Challenge #112 we are using dies, border punches and stickers. I used 2 dies, 2 border punch and 3 stickers. You can use as many of each as you choose but you must have at least 1 of each on your project. Please use tags: pcpcuttlebug, pcpcuttlebug112
If you'd like to link your project to us at PCP please click here and enter your info. Thanks.

I have several dies from different companies. But being a Stampin' Up! demo I can not reveal those other guys. :O) So if you have a question you can e-mail me and I'll try to get you the info. you need. All cardstock and dsp are from Stampin' Up! as well as the stickers and ribbons used in the decorative process.

CCCBC58 - by the sea

My card uses stamps & dsp from the NEW Stampin' Up! Summer Mini. I am posting this card to the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog challenge #58 with the theme of 'by the sea'.

I stamped images from The Open Sea set #123032 onto kraft cardstock in Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I smudge Chocolate Chip ink all around the edges and on the surface. I cut DSP from the collection Nautical Expedition #122343 and punched a border.
On a piece of Confetti White cs I stamped the sailing ship from Sail Away #123013. I smudged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink and then I added a little Soft Sky ink to the water area. I threaded some of the red and white striped twine through a needle and then sewed on the ropes that hold up the sails. Rubbed a little more Chocolate Chip on that. Then I added a button and my sentiment, which reads "If God were not Willing to Forgive Sin, Heaven would be Empty."-- German Proverb

Hope - PCS45

For the challenge at PaperCraft Star there is a picture we had to use for inspiration. You can see the inspiration photo HERE. And you can play along with the PaperCraft Star challenge HERE.
For my card I used the new DSP from Stampin' Up! the Beyond the Garden collection #122342. This is two sided paper so I used both sides. The Whisper White cs was embossed with the Framed Tulips folder #121809. The butterfly is from Stampin' Up! Strength & Hope stamp set #123660 stamped with Pink Pirouette Craft ink. The letter H with the word HOPE was stamped in Rose Romance Classic ink. The entire butterfly was spritzed with Stampin' Up! Champagne Mist #116806. The Stampin' Up! grosgrain ribbon is Rose Red.

a happy hello - 4CC37

For this 4CraftyChicks challenge I decided to flip the stair step card and make it stand at 5.5" tall by 4.125" wide. It was a bit of a challenge at first but I sussed it out. The base of my card is SU Confetti White. Then I just started layering sticker from the Simply Scrappin' Kit Playful Polka Dots collection #122346 from Stampin' Up! There are some beautiful colors and the stickers layer quite well to put together flowers. The theme this week at the Crafty Chicks is "Spring has Sprung". Well, I ask you, what says spring more that a bunch of flowers???

Dimensions for the TALL stair step:
11" x 4.125"
Place your cs the 4.125" side against the side of your scoring tool. Then score across at 1", 2", 3 1/4", 4 1/4", 8 1/2"
Place your cs in your cutting tool with the 4.125" side facing you. Start at 1" and cut to 8 1/2".
Accordian fold on your score lines. Decorate your card and Voila!

Tues Steppin' on a Wednesday - CTD141

I was s'posed to post this yesterday but of course as par for me I forgot. So here it is! This is my Texas Tuesday - Tues Steppin' card and I used the colors from ColorThrowDown #141 to create it. The colors are Stampin' Up! So Saffron, Rose Red, Aqua (which in my case is Bermuda Bay).
I stamped and heat embossed the So Saffron with SU set Wanted in Daffodil Delight ink. The tag stamp (from Co-TT Design Team Member Deadbeat Mark) was stamped in Rose Red then heat embossed. Using my daubers and making mattes for the ground, The Alamo, the state and the sky; in a circular motion I smudged the various inks. I colored the Alamo itself with the Stampin' Write Blush Blossom marker. Then I highlighted the stucco with Cajun Craze. I distressed the edges and daubed on some Early Espresso ink to the edges. The Alamo is raised up with SU Dimensionals. I added the So Saffron Grosgrain ribbon with a decorative metal brad.

tangy hello - TSTC

tangy hello - Twisted Sketches Twisted Cards Challenge #58. The challenge is Laugh. well this card makes me happy and I guess in my mind that constitutes "laugh". All DSP & CS is from Stampin' Up! I've used Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango. Even the names of these colors makes me want to laugh. The DSP is called Beyond the Garden #122342 and it is lovely and full of flowers!!! If I'd had the Fabulous Flowers Set #123027 I would have used the sentiment "the earth laughs in flowers". Wouldn't that have just been perfect?! Instead my card just says, "hello". I added some buttons from the Ice Cream Parlor #123529 with the Seam Tape in Rose Red #121884. And last but not least, my friend Elizabeth of SoftPencil Designs put a tutorial on her blog that was created by one of my fellow SoftPencil Design Team members Cat for making these pinwheels. She made it look soooo simple I had to give it a try. Guess what! It is really simple!

faith with a flourish

This card just makes me smile! I love GREEN (any shade)! The sketch is the one we are playing with at CardPatterns Sketches this week. I love the sketch but the colors I used just sing to me!!! I hope you enjoy looking at this as much as I did creating it.
DSP - Stampin' Up! Paisley Petals
Cardstock - Stampin' Up! Pear Pizzaz, Very Vanilla
Flower Die - Stampin' Up! Bigz L Fun Flowers
Ribbon - Stampin' Up! Pear PIzzaz Striped Grosgrain and Certainly Celery Seam Tape
Stamps - Stampin' Up! Bliss, Medallion
Punchs - Stampin' Up! Boho Blossoms
Inks - Stampin' Up! Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Basic Black, Versa Mark, & Daffodil Delight
The Medallion was stamped on the Paisley Petal dsp with Versa Mark ink. Then I heat embossed with Stampin' Up! White embossign powder.
To make the flower petals I randomly stamped the Bliss flourish in Old Olive and Always Artichoke on Very Vanilla cs. Then I ran it through The Big Shot with the Fun Flowers Die. I cut several of the small flower petals to stack my flower. Then I ran a piece of Certainly Celery through The Big Shot to cut one of the middle sized flower petals. I then sponged Pear Pizzaz ink on the petals of the middle sized flower petals. I cut it to make my leaves. I punched Boho Blossoms to create the flower center. I punched a little Boho Blossom from a scrap piece of yellow and added a Stampin' Up! Crystal I colored with my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Marker.

May Flowers - C4C86

May Flowers is the theme for Crazy4Challenges #86. This week it's make a floral card for May flowers. I chose to use some DSP and cardstock to create my little pinwheel flowers. These petal are halves of a 1" circle punch. It's all the same 2 sided dsp. I added a 1/2" circle punch in yellow. I hope you enjoyed seeing my creation for this challenge. It sure was fun to create. I've been really punch drunk the last few days. Stampin' Up! demos. have been teaching me how to use my punches for creating more than just the shapes they were meant for.

Old Fashioned Christmas - ICS113 & CCC22

Old Fashioned Christmas - I posted this card to 2 challenges - Inspirational Card Sketches #113 and Christmas Card Challenge #22. I must say, the troop at ICS sure did give me a challenge this week! This sketch, although it creates a beautiful pattern it is a challenge to cut all the pieces to fit. Still it was F U N! The Christmas Card Challenge was to use metal. I think I took a little artistic license with this one in that my "ribbon" accents are gold and I used a gold ink on the bells in my main image. I just wanted to say, that beautiful ribbon rose at the bottom right hand corner was HANDMADE by ME!!! I am so proud of that little accent. My SU pal, Deb Segler and I went to a SU retreat this past weekend and Amy (her last name excapes me ATM) showed us how to make these. She only showed us one time and today I made my first one!
Hope you enjoy my card and I hope the CCC folks can appreciate my take on the "metal" challenge. :O)

everyday adventure - TSTC#57

Twisted Sketches Twisted Cards sketch #57. Loved the simplicity of this sketch and it sure turns out a very pretty card design too. I stated with Cajun Craze cardstock cut at 4 1/4" by 11" scored and folded at 5.5". I cut a piece of Stampin' Up! In Colors dsp at 1 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" long. Ran that through my Big shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. I used a die and cut the scallop border out of Early Espresso cs. I stamped the sentiment from On the Grow stamp set and punched with the Modern Label XL punch and mounted it with Dimensionals. The sentiment and the hearts were punched out of So Saffron. I added a little clear heart button from Bitty Buttons #118761. The ribbon is also So Saffron.

true friend - MOJO189

If you saw my card entry for MOJO188 you're probably thinking they are quite similar. Well, you'd be right in that vein of thought. However, I didn't realize it myself until just when I went to upload it to my blog. I used some of the same papers and cardstock. But this is a brand new card using MOJO MONDAY sketch challenge #189. This was so much fun for me. I love the Stampin' Up! stamps I used which come in the Bliss set (from the Sale A Brations catalog) and the sentiment is from the Perfect Punches set #120516. They were stamped in Night of NavyI punched the border with the Stampin' Up! Eyelet Border punch #119853. The white matte with the words and swirlies is stamped with the Vintage Vogue jumbo wheel #117693 in Marina Mist ink. Cardstock used: Marina Mist and Certainly Celery. The punches I used: 1 3/4" Scalloped Circle #119854 & Oval Lg. #119855 (1 3/4" x 7/8"). The little key is one of the charms from Trinket Keys #121892.

happy father's day - JFF - worst critic

Sometimes, I can be my own worst critic. But once this card was completed, I just kept thinking I could have done a better job with the sun in the upper right hand corner. I like everything else about this card, but that one corner just chaps my hide! Have you ever seen a straight line of distinction between the sun and the blue of the sky? No! Neither have I. But what's done is done. I will have to chalk that one up to experience and say, "I'll do better next time." Still I wanted to share. If you've ever had a dissappointment moment like mine I'd love to hear about it. Just leave me a comment. How did you handle it? Did you simply let it go like I did or did you start all over again from scratch. I'm just wondering, you know, inquiring minds want to know.
